I have no issue at all playing Hurts down the stretch because I separate the rest of 2020 from 2021 entirely.

If the coaching staff is let go -- and especially if Howie is let go -- everything on the personnel side starts fresh for 2021.

I've said before -- give Wentz an entire offseason program with OTA and training camp, let him work with a QB guru for the summer, and enter training camp in 2021 refreshed and he is still the presumptive starting QB next season.

Thats exactly what will happen because Dougs only chance is for Hurts to play very well.  Otherwise hes gone

Even Doug has had enough of Wentz

If true dont be surprised if there is more of an effort to get some balance and run the ball.

Its going to be hilarious to see how long this little trend lasts

I doubt it. Pederson is 100% pure fail.

I am just afraid that Hurts becomes a band-aid that Howie and Doug will say cures the team for next season.  Howie needs to go.  Doug needs to have a better staff.  Those 2 things should not be off the table because of Hurts' play.

The only way that happens is if Hurts looks like Mahomes these final four games and that won't happen.

I would have started Hurts but would have actually encouraged the usual soft and infuriating Doug answer of "Jalen is starting next week, but we'll see how it goes with both QB's."  That allows you to get a couple week look at Hurts, then go back to Wentz.

Of course, they can still do that and maybe that's how Doug will word it too.  But a report that "Jalen Hurts is his new starting quarterback" is unexpectedly final and decisive.

That really backs the Eagles into a corner.

He deserves 12 full games of aids football play like Wentz got.

Well there will definitely be more of an effort to run the ball, considering that our new QB cannot pass and is more comfortable running it.

Tough task. The Saints are very good on defense and particularly in the passing game. They have allowed the sixth-fewest yards, are tied for third in interceptions and have a very good pass rush (third in the league in sacks). Their defensive line in particular gets a lot of pressure.

Taking another look their run defense is very good too. First in the league in YPC at 3.3 yards and they are second in total rushing yards allowed at 913.

Why?  Because Wentz hurt your feelings?

Lol his coaching assistants will be back was final and decisive. Look what happened afterwards?

People are having a hard time understanding this. If they bench Wentz the rest of the season, it doesn't mean that he's still not their guy in 2021. Especially if they get a new coach and/or GM in here. That will be up to them, but odds are they will still view Wentz as their guy. I don't think this is the end of Wentz here at all.

I hope you're just being really obtuse on purpose now. The overall tone of the blog is clearly that Wentz has been awful, and going forward, he may not be the franchise QB he was envisioned to be. Some are certain that he's completely washed, some think a new city and new team could revitalize him, and some think a new coaching staff here could have a similar impact. Of that last group, most admit that it may not be enough and he might be finished in Philly. How you take away anything other than that.....

There are posters in this blog stating there is nothing wrong with Wentz' mechanics.  That has been the main topic of discussion today around here.

You know I wonder if Doug calls more run plays but Wentz audibles out of them to pass sometimes.

No because he is a rookie and Wentz isn’t and that scrub bust got 12 games

Hurts had to start or the entire roster would have revolted.

Playing the Saints as your 1st game though? Oh boy, that's ROUGH.

This also means we're likely going 2-2 to end the year.

He'll be lucky to make it through 4 games

He'll be running for his life and hes not ready, he doesn't have the tools to deal with this garbage offense or coaching

80% of Wentz apologists.

And I have a newsflash for you: If some of you take the time to dwell outside of this blog, you will see that the vast majority of the rest of the world sees exactly what I see, including most analysts, etc.

Dude, I listen to most nationwide radio than most of the blog combined.

For example, I live in Washington State, and the Tuesday after the Seahawks game, I was listening to the local guys, and they had one of their contributors on talking about what he saw with the Eagles.

His statement was " If I was going to talk about the Eagles problems in order, I would need a couple segments before I even got to Carson Wentz "

All my friends that are Hawks fans can not believe the inept offensive system we are running.  One texted me Sunday after the Hurts TD drive and said, I bet Carson Wentz would look that good against a prevent defense also.

Wentz is a crybaby. His feelings were hurt when they drafted Hurts. Grow a pair

I wonder if Wentz has started his last game as an Eagle.

A lot of people say because of his salary he has to start next season. That's asinine, there's no logic to that at all. It means they have to do everything in their power to try and fix him and get him right, but if they can't do that, then he doesn't have to start next season just because of the money he makes. If Hurts plays well, then at the very least they should be able to battle it out in camp.

It's a shame it has come to this.

Yeah, last place.

I think that's the only way we might see that happening.  Unfortunately, I am afraid that Lurie isn't objective enough to see it the same way.

Last week you were an expert on concussions and this week an expert on QB mechanics...very impressive...can't wait for next week.
