He was cut yesterday morning

My apologies, I thought he was just kicked out of team hotel. If his play wasn’t bad enough ... do we still practice squad protect him because he has so much value.

I don’t see how this whole scenario is so difficult to figure out...

Sit Wentz down and just say he’s getting shutdown for the remainder of the season pending an emergency. Be real with him - it’s because he’s not playing well and he needs to clear his head. But assure him he will be the starting QB heading into the 2021 offseason.

I’m not ready to rule out Wentz as this franchise’s QB. Yes he has been horrible but it wasn’t that long ago that we saw a QB make throws that very few other QBs can make. He currently has no confidence and has to be burnt out.

If he’s playing even close to this poorly next season then it’ll be time to discuss other long term options.

Side note - I’d trade Hurts for whatever you could get for him this offseason.

The last thing the Eagles need going into an offseason is a genuine QB controversy...choosing Hurts at this point is hard to come back from

There is no such thing as a QB controversy inside a solid locker room with good leadership.

QB controversy is created by ESPN, Fox Sports 1, and other sports radio and talk shows.  None of those people make personnel decisions for the team; the coaches do — and only bad coaches and GMs allow public pressure to influence personnel decisions.

If Hurts plays well during these last 4 games, he becomes the solid #2 QB the Eagles needed when they drafted him.  He also could create a trade market for himself, for those who are all about draft picks.

If Wentz continues to struggle in 2021 then you have a game-tested backup QB to go to.  If Wentz doesn’t rebound during the 2021 season and keep the starting QB job, then the Eagles will likely have to eat the $25M for 2022 and trade him.  That time hasn’t come yet.

"extreme lack of talent" LOL!!!

I can name 12-15 teams that would kill for Ertz/DG/Sanders and a first round WR in Reagor.

A team with talent would at least be able to compete on talent alone. This team can't do anything. Yes they have an extreme lack of talent, especially young talent.

The Jets?

I guess we are no longer the "Gold Standard."

I will root for Hurts to do well, but man this Front Office is killing my want to be an Eagle fan.  Just one inept thing after another.

BTW Is Doug actively trying to get fired now?  Still playing guys like Alshon/JP, refusing to run the ball as examples?

I'm out!  Peace an love guys, I got very little interest in this team, until there is a cleaning out, Howie, Coaching staff etc.....

Yup in the mirror,  just a different shade of green

pretty sure you havent followed pro sports in the last 15 or so years

Superstars can demand trades whenever they want for why ever they want. yes. Wentz isnt playing like a superstar "right now" but he gets paid like one, ad hes played like one in the past.

Id bet bottom dollars Wentz walked into Howies office and said Doug/Hurts, or me.

Hopefully Lurie walks into Howie and Doug’s office and says GTFO

Right, I've just started following pro sports.....you got me.

Wentz can do whatever he wants.  If he wants to go to Lurie, Howie of whoever else and demand a trade, he has that right.

But him doing that right now.....he'd look like the biggest clown in sports and pretty much everyone would be laughing at him.

That leadership begins now....both players need to be sat down and need clarification. I already believe that Pederson has lost the locker room judging by the lack of discipline. Who is going to be the adult in the room to make things right?

Like I said this signals the end of Wentz or Doug in Philly.  There is no way around it.  If Wentz is a franchise QB then he will not want to play for Doug anymore.  And if Doug wants to control the locker room he can't go back to Wentz if Hurts struggles.  There is no way back from this at all.  One will be gone and if Hurts is awful it might be both.

The QB and Coach relationship here is broke and no coming back IMO.

I have no doubt Doug will sit down with both of them if he hasn’t already, and both are now well aware of the plan for the next 4 weeks

I have little doubt in early January there will be others making the coaching decisions for 2021

Why would Wentz want to come back to this ****show?

When has any team benched their franchise QB for the last 4 games of the season then went back to him the following year and succeeded?

Well run teams who have 27 year old QBs who have shown they can play at MVP level will stick with their QB through 1 year of struggles when clearly the rest of the cast along him are also playing like crap.

Make no mistake, Doug is only doing this now to try to save himself. If we somehow go 2-2 the rest of the way with Hurts and Doug stays we will have set our franchise back by at least 3 years.

You want to know what a leader sounds like. Listen to Mike Tomlin talk about his Wide Receivers today. Direct and to the point. Do better or you’ll be replaced.

I’m guessing they wouldn’t make it public right now. I’m also guessing it would happen in the off-season as wentz is a person that doesn’t seem like he would do something like that in the midst of the season and be a distraction.

Wentz's prospects for employment outside of the Eagles are orders of magnitude better than are those of Howie and Doug.

I'm not counting Doug going back to coaching high school as an employment opportunity in this context.

I agree with your 1st statement.  But him asking for a trade right now after playing like crap all year and now being benched.....he'd look stupid.

If Hurts plays well and it seems the Eagles are leaning towards going with him in 2021 then Wentz can wait till the season is over and ask for a trade.  Doing it right now, he'd get ripped apart by fans and media.

People are having a hard time understanding this. If they bench Wentz the rest of the season, it doesn't mean that he's still not their guy in 2021. Especially if they get a new coach and/or GM in here. That will be up to them, but odds are they will still view Wentz as their guy. I don't think this is the end of Wentz here at all.

If Wentz is benched for the rest of the season and a new HC comes in, it will be like Chip Kelly starting Vick in his first year here.

We all know it won't end well, but we'll pretend to be excited.

I agree.  But if he did ask then I'm sure somehow it would get leaked.

I do think they need to bring Sweat back.  Seumalo has been slightly above average but we have to remember that you can't have all-stars at every position.  He will be better with stability around him.

Seumalo's contract for being slightly above average is an absolute steal.  Honestly, his agent should probably be fired.  He's someone I would definitely NOT put on the trading block.

No we have none of it from Coaches. Though some players show it routinely,

When Drew Brees is ready to play again I’ll bet there is no controversy who the QB is. We can’t figure out who the F is gonna play Oline from week to week.

If there is a planned coaching change, then Pederson is the last person to be sitting them down and talking to them....

You are talking about the public announcement - I don't care about the timing of that.
