Oh, the irony!

If Wentz is not moved, then he might be the most expensive backup in NFL history.

Of course, the justification for drafting Hurts in the first place was to obtain a low-cost backup QB.

You cannot make this stuff up.

I'm excited for the Saints game now but there is no denying this is a sad time for this team.

You're excited for what reason? If he wins it will be from running and teams not having film on him only to find out later that he was Fulgham gold. And there goes our precious high draft picks.

I could see it being bieniemy.

I would be shocked if they go back to the Reid coaching tree so soon.

We would have a starter on a rookie contract though!

In true Eagles fashion, the organization shitcans the most talented of Wentz, Roseman, and Pederson.

I think that they just decided to piss into the wind.... I think this is the deathknell for Roseman and Pederson... because they are in a position that won't end well.    They have Hurts going into his first professional start against the toughest opponent that they have left.  Meanwhile, they could have added more talent to this team in Round 2... for Wentz... or in Round 3... instead, they took Hurts and Taylor.   1 is a QB, that won't help the guy they just signed to a big deal... and the 2nd is a LB that can't get on the field, despite the LBs sucking.

I think Wentz, due to his contract, sticks around with the new front office and coaching staff... at least for a while.

People keep saying this is one of 32 openings so it’ll be attractive. You’re missing the point. I’m talking about the Eagles job compared to the other openings.

It’s not like I’m worried about the Eagles going into the 2021 season without a HC. I’m more worried about not landing the guy we want because our organization is a cluster F right now.

Howie goes... its attractive.

Howie stays... its the red-headed step-child.

Doug has already declared the season over when he named Hurts the starting QB, by his own words.

As for the other... many here believe that there's still potential in Wentz, and you don't.   So, let's let it all rest.   I think we can all agree that the combination of Doug and Wentz is likely irreparable at this point, and one and/or both will be gone next year.  I believe Wentz stays and Doug goes.   You feel the opposite.   No need to take it further.

That's fair enough.  And I haven't given up hope on Wentz either, btw.  I can see him getting better with a healthy offensive line, especially if he gets his mechanics corrected.   Whether that will happen here or with Doug or somewhere else, I have no idea.

If it's really the guy we want. Maybe we offer full control. But yes Howie is a detriment

Wentz is not going anywhere.  It is financially impossible.

If they get under the cap, he's tradable but have to be willing to take the dead cap hit that ends up saving them about $700k on the 2021 cap.   But, I see them using his cap hit as a way to dig out of the cap mess for 2021.

OK, season saved.

So they would not cut bait with Alshon Jeffrey, a locker room cancer who is shot because of 15 million, but the are gonna trade Carson and leave a 34 million dollar dead cap hit to save $ 890,000.

I'm not saying they would ever do that.  I was just repeating what someone else said about trading him because I didn't think it was even possible.

The 'they' is the issue.  Howie... no, he won't do it.   But, a new GM brought in, could (though I sincerely doubt it).

What would be your initial thought if he was traded to say, the Colts ??

Reich is about to make him an MVP candidate....

If it were another team... I'd laugh.   But, it's not...

Whatever you do dont trade Wentz to New England if Belichick turns him around and they run off more Super Bowls I would never forgive this franchise.  Any place else besides New England please.

I'm going to refrain from discussing it much in here because it's obviously a sensitive topic.  I'll keep most of it in the Wentz and/or Hurts thread from now on...as long as I'm not engaged in here about it.

I do not care if you talk about wentz. I’ve crushed wentz about mechanics earlier this season. Every week but maybe 2 have had him in the ugly section. I’ve also crushed multiple aspects about this team. But my issue with you is as soon as someone brings up things doug is failing at. You immediate defend him like he does nothing wrong and then eventually just don’t want to have the Convo so you say "it’s both”. My biggest problem with you is you go out of your way defending doug and act like you don’t.

If we do decide to move on from Wentz, I don’t think the contract is as prohibitive as the pundits are saying. The acquiring team will have to pay him a lot, but they can get out of his contract quite easily.

Indianapolis devoted $46M in cap space to Brissett and Rivers. You don’t think they’d pay up for Wentz? Reich would take him in a heartbeat.

Yes, but would they take Pederson or Roseman?

Well... if the Eagles sent Wentz to Dallas, and then they won a Super Bowl... that would be too much for me.   Or, for them to trade him away and win a Super Bowl anywhere, really...

People keep writing that as if they personally know Reich and what he thinks of the current state of Wentz.

I laid out the costs a day or two ago, its minimal, and its only a 1 year commitment, due to the Salary being guaranteed in 2021.  The rest would fall on the Eagles, so the new team could walk away for $25M to kick the tires on him.
