I used to think Doug may have been trying to sabotage Wentz by not calling enough runs/easy completions but that doesn’t make much sense because Carson has the control to change the play at the LOS plus Doug is way too nice a guy and too much of a yes man to do that to his qb regardless of their feelings toward eachother.

I refuse to believe Doug has not tried to simplify things for Carson for 12 freaking weeks and help him out and the dude just refuses to accept coaching and thinks he can do whatever he wants. He already says he doesn’t want to run rpo because "that’s Foles stuff” and has said in the past he doesn’t see his style of play changing. He says all the right things in the media but comes off as an A hole at practice and Doug is likely tired of coaching him at this point. Hurts (although very small sample size) and Foles accept coaching and that’s why we see them come in and have success immediately in areas where Carson looks unwatchable

Interesting take.

Would explain a lot.

Not saying I agree not saying I disagree.

So if they trade Wentz next year and Hurts is the starter.  Do we have to draft a backup in round 2 again?

Might want to be cautious and take a QB in the top 10 to backup hurts

Why is this team so GD afraid to hold players accountable and bench their worthless ass for bad play? Save me this "sore” BS. You pull Jason Peters one week because he’s "injured” except 1. His injury is never announced to the press box and 2. He’s never given an official game designation, which means he’s not injured. Then last week he’s pulled again because of "injury and a dislocated toe” but he’s STANDING on the sideline the whole time and having no medical attention. All this after you had to pay him more to be a liability at a more important position. And what on flat earth has Alshon done to have the same clout? Leak to media and get rewarded? Pathetic.

They were on the 2017 roster though.

These things tell me the coach is not making it easier for the QB.

The Eagles are tied for 1st in the NFL in yards per carry, the Eagles are 28th in carries, thoughts ??

Miles Sanders is arguably the best player on offense, he has not had 20 combined touches in his last 7 games, thoughts ??

Eagles have a 25:75 run pass ratio during the current 4 game losing streak, thoughts ??

Given all the articles/podcasts I've consumed, the consensus is that Howie is returning. That will make the board crash.

I don't like fans who are unable to discuss the issues at hand and just lump the blame on one player.  Care to discuss my points to you earlier ??

I'm ok with it as I truly believe some of the bad picks have Dougs name written all over it.

Howie should be canned for the contracts alone.

The fact it took us until week 13 to run a jet sweep with reagor when he did that at TCU with a bunch of success tells me this. I get he missed a couple weeks but even prior to that they never attempted it and then waited another 5 weeks when he came back to do it. That’s inexcusable i know for sure it’s not taking Kyle shanahan until week 13 to figure that out.. i also know miles sanders would actually be used not becoming a ghost in This offense with him.

I can't wait for a new coaching staff.

Okay I get this so are we just all conceding that Doug Pederson is a just a flat out idiot? He’s just a block head in a visor? He sees these numbers, understands them, and still says F THAT we have Carson freaking Wentz under center, WERE FINE THERE

Id like to give Doug the benefit of the doubt just a little. He just won a SB and it seems like whenever someone not named Wentz is running his offense things just feel more balanced and steady. Duce is assistant HC for crying out loud, I’m sure there’s a reason we we aren’t running more with a struggling QB and a top 5 run blocking O line and it comes down to 2 things:

A) Doug and his 29 offensive assistants are all idiots

B) The running plays get called and Carson is changing some of them to pass to help throw himself out of his struggles and show the world he’s still who we want him to be

which is more likely?

That's the consensus, but the consensus was also that Alshon Jeffery wouldn't be on the team or play a snap for the team this year. Also, I imagine they have no where near high enough sources to get an accurate read on the situation. All the guys they talk to probably have a boss named Howie Roseman.

Not sure what makes you think that. The Reagor pick falls right in line with the offseason theme on both sides of the ball. "Speed." Thats Roseman. And I know you said before Hurts was a Doug pick but if so I find it hard to believe he refused to play him for 12 weeks outside of one or two zero creative plays per game.

Ill find the article. Bleeding green? maybe. But essentially they went through the 2nd half of the browns game, and with research, Carson audibling into runs, and audlbling out of runs, they said doug call 3... THREE runs. FYI it was 40MPH winds and they were on pace for 230 rushing yards.

So Doug is really just an idiot then. Wow.

I will have to run some numbers about run pass ratio during 2017, and a comparison of Foles and Wentz.

2017 playoffs, it was a 45:55 run pass ratio, which was skewed in the Superbowl.  The two NFC playoff games it was 50:50

Yup. Been saying this every time after watching the all 22. The only young receiver who consistently runs good routes is Greg Ward. It’s a reason he gets open more than fulgham has the past couple weeks. Fulgham, Hightower and reagor all are good at times then other times you say that was a poor route.

And of course @toughfighter83 trolls a couple nonsense posts and then runs and hides when people bring facts for a real discussion.

This falls on Moorehead. His number one priority this season was get Jalen Reagor ready to play Week 1. He's had two injuries which complicates things but he should not be running lazy routes in Week 13 or dogging it on some plays not designed for him. Priority #2 was salvage JJAW. Failed. Maybe no one could salvage him but he's somehow regressed from last year. That's terrible coaching. Priority #3, work with Hightower/Watkins to be able to contribute with limited opportunities. Failed. Hightower is also running bad routes and having trouble tracking the ball. Watkins can't even get active. There's been nothing for him to hang his hat on besides Greg Ward is kind of the same as last year.

A) ..... I hardly even needed to read what B) was

Doug is trying to run an offensive scheme which is completely out of step with the personnel he has.  He’s been trying to run a downfield offense with an OL that can’t pass protect well enough

If Wentz was actually trying to freelance to the extent that you believe, or saying anything like "I’m not running those plays, those are Foles plays” — don’t you think a decent head coach would have pulled him by Week 6?  You’re putting too much stock into the ‘a person with knowledge of the situation’ or ‘people inside the building think’ type of stories

I wish we had the old emb cause i actually did that with the 2017, 2018 and half of the 2019 season last year. It has been progressively going the other way for over the past 3 years. Some of that is being behind. Some of it is just a lack of commitment in games

Actually, that's not really true, Foles did not look good except for two games. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

2017:  Foles, 3 starts, 56.4%, Y/A 5.3, rating 79.5, QBR 34.7, PO: 3 starts, 72.6%, Y/A 9.2, Rating 115.7

2018:  Foles, 5 starts, 72.3%, Y/A 7.2, rating 96.0, QBR 67.4, PO: 2 starts, 60.6%, Y/A 6.6, Rating  70.6

@Br3 I also saw that article.  But you don't need that article, you can see it in the box score.  One team stuck with the run, and there QB was not put in harms way, and also did not play very well.

In fairness none of those young guys had offseason team activities due to covid nor did he get to on field work with them until camp. Not every rookie WR is the same. Jefferson was ready day one to play and contribute. He was polished. Much easier transition. I never thought any of the 3 we drafted were ready day one and missing those team activities due to a pandemic hurt them.  It’s why i constantly said just drafting and expecting rookies to be consistent week to week was a foolish plan when you already had unreliable WR that you couldn’t rely to be on the field week in and week out
