Bengals would have to beat at least one of Dallas, Steelers, Texans, Ravens. Not sure who would win the tiebreaker if we finish with the same record as them.

Currently, the Eagles hold the tie breaker based on strength of schedule. The best outcome would be for the Bengals to beat the Cowboys and for the Cowboys to beat the Eagles.

This goes directly back to the offseason when i said it was an idiotic plan to not go get Anderson when his market price dropped. And just assuming they were good enough as draft evaluators and developers at the WR position to get it right in the draft. And have rookies along with desean who are unreliable week to week to have success if they were a true contender. Add on we are in a Fing pandemic with no offseason activities until training camp

I liked Anderson as well, to not get him and roll the dice with an aged Injury prone desean was dumb.

I always liked Robbie Anderson thought he would fit well here as a Z and the temple connection made it more appealing.

Not sure Howie settled for desean instead or actively targeted Desean over Robbie.

I was ok with Desean as a consolation prize to Robbie as the eagles needed a deep threat and figured Desean would be good for at least 12 games a year, it's turned into a disaster though.

There is nothing surprising about vets like Kelce/Cox supporting Wentz. They know him much better and have a ring because of him.

I prefaced my comments with IMO which if you did not know means in my opinion which I am allowed to have. I also said my opinion of the situation was based off of things I have read and the way I see the team respond when Carson isn’t playing. Is that ok? Can people not have opinions on a message board?  I did not say anything definitive or set in stone, I said in my opinion. I don’t see how that is pushing a "made up narrative.”

Not true.  Go back and look for yourself, if you need to. You claimed he was an a-hole at practice without citing it as your opinion, but claiming it as fact, something that you must have witnessed, because there's never been a single article that says that (at least none that I've seen, or heard of).  Unless you have one, you are just making up your own narrative.  So, where is the evidence of him acting like an a-hole at practice.   Please, take your time, but do support your assertion.   And if you do have one, please let it be one with NAMES, not anonymous sources.

With Cox and now Kelce especially Kelce speaking out in the media it tells me that Doug doesn't have the pulse of the locker room (at least the Vets in the locker room) and despite what he says the move to Hurts could be coming from outside influences (Howie and Lurie)  If the Hurts thing doens't work then Doug has lost the support of the Vets in the locker room and will be hard to gain that support back.

This is why I said that this moves signals that either Doug or Wentz will be gone next year if not both of them.

People keep saying this is one of 32 openings so it’ll be attractive. You’re missing the point. I’m talking about the Eagles job compared to the other openings.

It’s not like I’m worried about the Eagles going into the 2021 season without a HC. I’m more worried about not landing the guy we want because our organization is a cluster F right now

That is putting it nicely as well.

Bringing Desean back was Howie still dealing with his own demons with Chip Kelly.   He had to prove it was Chip and not him, that had Desean cut for no reason.  And rather than just sending Desean a fruit basket and getting a WR that can actually get on the field and stay on the field (Anderson), Howie had to deal with his own ego... trading for the aging Desean, then giving him a new contract, which then tied the Eagles' hands and forced them to rely on him again the following season after he couldn't stay healthy the first year after the trade.

It needs to be Howie and Doug.

Sounds like the kind of GM I want to hand the keys to.

DeSean was bad luck, no one expected him to play 16 games, but a guy who is a speed WR usually doesn't get hurt that easily (because they don't get a lot of contact), same luck they had with Wallace, sometimes the dice just come up snake eyes. I think the plan was for DeSean to start, and they'd gradually coach up and work in Reagor, when DeSean inevitably goes down mid-season, Reagor is ready to step in without a lot of pressure. Didn't quite work out that way, but that's not a crazy approach. And of course, with Ertz and Goedert, the expectation was they'd play a lot of 2 TE formations until the young WRs were ready to step up. Which meant Reagor, Hightower and Watkins don't see the field much the first half. If it's reasonable ex ante, don't judge it ex post.

Which is why I'd just give them a mulligan this year, the string of injuries was far past what any organization can prepare for, you can lose DeSean, you can lose Brooks, you'll have a few guys injured for short stretches, but losing 3 OL starters and two others for half the season, your top WR, your top TE, what team can overcome that? Doesn't mean I want Peddy back, I think he's been exposed the last couple years, he's a veterans (let 'em play) coach who is well liked but not feared enough and simply isn't a great offensive mind.

For Cox to call Wentz his best friend on the team says a lot about Wentz, b/c we're talking a black man from the Deep South and a white guy from the Dakotas, not exactly a hot bed of racial enlightenment. And a DT to boot, on a lot of teams, your defensive stars don't have much use for your highly paid QB.

And when Kelce is adamant about something, people should listen - the man doesn't have much of a filter, and certainly doesn't toe the company line - and at this point in his career, he could give a hoot about media reaction.

Afan defending Howie again. The Earth is back on its axis.

Not going to blame Howie on this one. And that answer doesn't even make sense. "I didn't care what the money was, but they didn't want to give me more money, so I wasn't respected."

Just now, austinfan said:

Can we just take a minute and focus on this part for a moment.   When bringing in a weapon for your QB, should you bring in a WR fully expecting that he won't be able to play all 16 games?   (This is referring to the idea of bringing him back in 2019, rather than 2020, when they had no choice.)

The idea that Wentz should be surrounded by aged WRs and just deal with it when they get hurts smacks of hubris in its own right.  They could have brought in Anderson, for not much more than they are paying Desean, including basically what they gave up for Golden Tate (another aging WR, that was a rental) and had a WR that was still in his prime... and had speed... and a guy who has missed 2 games in his entire career, not a guy who misses at least 2 games every year.

Bad Howie.

Nah, when DeSean is healthy he's still a top WR, and one the most dangerous deep threats in the NFL. No one expected 16 games a year, but 12 was reasonable. The two previous seasons, he started 13 and 10 games. This season he should have been able to buy time for Reagor, and if Ertz is healthy (16 and 15 starts the previous two seasons), then the Eagles are fine. You expect and plan for injuries but not most of your offense.

Hurts should start b/c there is no reason to get Wentz beat up now that the playoffs are basically out of reach (have to run the table and have the Giants/Wash lose at least 2 games). Hurts gets experience that would help him as a backup next year. Same reason they should play as many young players as possible.

It wasn't about the money, but the respect factor wasn't 'valued' at what he thought?   Um... what value other than money is he talking about?  Did he want a parking space with his name on it or something?

Your best ability is availability.  He does not have it, so he is not a top WR.

I never wanted Jackson back because of his age and that we'd only get a few games out of him. Him getting knocked out on that return wasn't his fault IMO. It was a dirty hit

I had no freaking clue that Ertz was going to pull a 'Jackson' during his contract year though. The effort he showed before he was hurt was bad

Even though Reagor is a rookie I was hoping he'd be able to jump right in since he's a 1st rounder

Who the F would have predicted that Doug wouldn't run the ball this season though? And the times we did run it finally we get Duce taking Sanders out a bunch of times and putting Scott, Clement, and now Howard in

It’s amazing that the Rams are able to win with Goff and Sean McVay adjusting what he really wants to do on offense. I feel that McVay is limited on his playbook with Jared Goff. I think there’s another element to those offense but he just can’t do because Goff is just limited and he has to tailor to that type of offense to fit Goff. I’m pretty positive part of the reason (besides the concussions) Brandin cooks was traded was because he didn’t find his cap value to be justified when they couldn’t use him the way to maximize him with Goff

I would be surprised if the Eagles had 253 yards after the catch for the entire season.  I wish I was kidding, but I don't wanna look it up.

Yup Kelces words speak volumes.

As for how Wentz and Cox are friends last I heard they are both avid hunters and go out and shoot stuff together.

Maybe they can take Howie with them...

He is, what we call in the biz, TOAST.
