The fact that the Eagles moved Peters and gave him more money to play LT over Mailata pretty much confirms they were right about Mailata...

Some of us thought Mailata should have started in game 1 despite his "bad training camp".

right now Mailata is the best player on the offense

Admittedly that bar is set pretty low.

I'm a bit of a Sanders critic and I think history will show that he wasn't worth a 2nd round pick, but I would argue that he is the best player on the offense right now.

Kelce may gain some points for being the one guy consistently in the lineup, for playing hurt, and for dealing with spare parts on either side of him, but he is getting pushed around.

You mean Dropsgalor 2 the Fumbler? No freaking way, not this year anyways.  I am a Sanders supporter and this year he fits right in with the rest of the skill position players.

But like @Asg 15 says the bar is low

Despite all this PFF and blog hype, I actually don't think Mailata is playing all that well.  To my eyes, it looks like he's consistently getting beaten around the edge.  I'm still excited about his future here, but I don't think he's playing as well as he's getting credit for.

oh gee, I guess you don't have to pass 50 plus times to win. Cam Akers looked pretty Fing good to me last night.

I really haven't isolated on him at all. It's really hard to when d lineman come free from all over the place (maybe an over exaggeration). But I don't think you can go wrong with Kelce so that's what I'm sticking with.

Sanders may improve though with Hurts at the helm because he (Hurts) will be a bigger threat to run and dumbarse Doug will call a lot more running plays now. So you may end up being right.

You know that, and I know that, and now that Hurts is in Doug will know that.

Sorry, but Reagor is not this nor will be. Let's just hope he can be a version of Agholor minus the confidence and drop issues. Regardless, thats bad value at 21, bad.

Well if you're only going to give him 10 touches a game he's not going to be worth it.

Kelce's playing on one arm. If he had both i'd agree.

I thnk the Dillard hate basically stems from two things, one the belief that all 1st rd picks should be instant stars, two his putrid performance at RT, a position he hardly practiced at and almost never played in college - and it takes time for OL to adjust from one side to the other (all movements are mirror image). Next year is the litmus test, with time to bulk up, adjust to NFL speed and perfect his technique, he should be an above average starting OT in his 3rd season. Of course, if Lane is healthy he may have to learn how to play LG.

Mailata got benched b/c he struggled for a couple games after a good start, Peters outplayed him for two games then fell apart, which lends credence to the turf toe excuse. Since Mailata returned to the lineup he raised his game a notch, which shows that for young players, at times it helps to sit on the bench and watch and absorb before returning to action.

I personally am loathe to give up on offensive lineman too early.   If there is any position where guys can develop and legitimately get better it's at O-line.

There is a very good article about the career arc of Eric Fisher.  He was considered a bust initially, and still might have been over drafted (the Chiefs should have taken Lane Johnson), but he has turned into at least a decent starting OT in the NFL.

Watch the Breaking the Birds videos on youtube.

That guy does a pretty good job of evaluation.

Based on nothing but hope.

He's playing much better, he gets beat but he has the athleticism to recover and is really long, Tra Thomas long - basically he's becoming Tra as a pass blocker and Peters as a run blocker (sheer power). The thing to watch is him blocking on the second level, that's amazing for a guy his size. And when he seals off the DE to the inside on run plays, sometimes he literally seals off the whole DL by pushing the DE into the DT.

That being said, he sets too high, can be bullrushed b/c of that, but is good at reestablishing his anchor. He's also improved by leaps and bounds in recognizing stunts, and remember, not only is he green as fresh cut wood, but he's had a revolving cast of LGs next to him. His footwork is inconsistent and sometimes he looks mechanical, like he's thinking about where he should set his feet rather than fluidly moving into his set - can't imagine why he'd still be thinking about technique at this point in his career. The other flaw is hands, he doesn't consistently punch, when he learns to do so, look for DEs to cry "no mas."

And the fact that he was basically as good as Vaiata in his second preseason game of his rookie season. It was pretty clear to anyone with a brain that he was going to be playing at a pro bowl level pretty quickly, and sure enough, that's where we are.

I think Reagor's ceiling is more like a Steve Smith.  I am not convinced that Jefferson would look good in this offense.

He’s playing at a pro bowl level?

We haven’t seen an Eagle play at a pro bowl level at any position in a bit; I think people forget what it looks like.

Good pre-season tape in 2018 & 2019. He also competing against the corpse of Jason Peters. But some beat reporters thought he was bad🤔

Yup.

PFF has him as one of the highest rated tackles. The film shows he's throwing around DEs like rag dolls. He hasn't given up a significant pressure or sack in his last two games.

That's what a pro bowl tackle looks like.

Right now he's playing on Lane Johnson level.

Don’t be obtuse. The team’s actions said he was bad and untrustworthy too. Fortunately he’s a gamer.Â
