oh gee, I guess you don't have to pass 50 plus times to win. Cam Akers looked pretty Fing good to me last night.

You know that, and I know that, and now that Hurts is in Doug will know that.

Anyone notice the first pass play for Goff ??

He's playing much better, he gets beat but he has the athleticism to recover and is really long, Tra Thomas long - basically he's becoming Tra as a pass blocker and Peters as a run blocker (sheer power). The thing to watch is him blocking on the second level, that's amazing for a guy his size. And when he seals off the DE to the inside on run plays, sometimes he literally seals off the whole DL by pushing the DE into the DT.

That being said, he sets too high, can be bullrushed b/c of that, but is good at reestablishing his anchor. He's also improved by leaps and bounds in recognizing stunts, and remember, not only is he green as fresh cut wood, but he's had a revolving cast of LGs next to him. His footwork is inconsistent and sometimes he looks mechanical, like he's thinking about where he should set his feet rather than fluidly moving into his set - can't imagine why he'd still be thinking about technique at this point in his career. The other flaw is hands, he doesn't consistently punch, when he learns to do so, look for DEs to cry "no mas."

Posters are complaining about Mailata getting beat around the edge but if you look at the tape he usually is putting the rusher where he needs to be but Wentz is either unable or unwilling to step up because of the rush coming up the middle.

The team’s actions said he was bad and untrustworthy too.

True, but this season we've learned that this team will put old, washed talent over younger players. Gotta give Alshon, Peters, Gerry and Curry those snaps.

Agreed.

To be fair Gerry's not old

Just bad

I think Reagor's ceiling is more like a Steve Smith.  I am not convinced that Jefferson would look good in this offense.

McVay is a choker.

I'd love that for Reagor, obviously we all will. But I don't see it...

No point in arguing over Mailata.

I think he has a lot to work on and am neither satisfied nor ready to anoint him a bookend tackle for the next 8 years.

As an aside, I also think Reagor runs bad routes, is a disappointment this year, and has yet to show he's part of the solution at WR.

But I definitely believe that Mailata and Reagor are the 2 most important, most talented young building blocks on the entire team, both just ahead of Goedert.

As far as I am concerned, they are the only players on the whole team that might be building blocks.

Kelce's playing on one arm. If he had both i'd agree.

Kelce with 1 arm...............................................

Reagor's ceiling remains what everyone hoped when he was drafted...Steve Smith/Tyreek Hill.  I don't think he moves like those guys or has that kind of speed though.  That's an absolute ceiling that he probably won't hit.

More likely?  I hate to say it, but probably Percy Harvin.

Worst case remains Tavon Austin.

LOL 1 game is a choker.

What do you call Doug for the last 44 games lol

This year I would call Doug an idiot. Last year not so much

What bugs me the most is Reagor taking plays off (according to the video of the G.B. game). As a rookie especially where do you come off doing that? Again what are they looking at when they watch film. Are these guys getting corrected for stuff like this?

My question is was the speed that I saw during the Washington game a mirage? How about on the punt return? I don't think he's playing all out a lot of the time.

our Picks:
Round 1 Pick 6: JaMarr Chase, WR, LSU (A)
Round 2 Pick 18 (L.V.): Aidan Hutchinson, DE/OLB, Michigan (A)
Round 3 Pick 6: Caden Sterns, FS/SS, Texas (A+)
Round 3 Pick 17 (L.V.): Eric Stokes, CB, Georgia (A+)
Round 4 Pick 18 (L.V.): Ambry Thomas, CB, Michigan (A+)
Round 5 Pick 5: Ben Cleveland, C/OG, Georgia (A+)
Round 5 Pick 6: Ben Brown, OG, Mississippi (A+)
Round 6 Pick 6: LaBryan Ray, DT/DE, Alabama (A+)
Round 7 Pick 6: Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida (A+)

Reagor, Sanders, Hurts ..... bad coaching, bad coaching, bad coaching

Despite all this PFF and blog hype, I actually don't think Mailata is playing all that well.  To my eyes, it looks like he's consistently getting beaten around the edge.  I'm still excited about his future here, but I don't think he's playing as well as he's getting credit for.

Everyone knows what I think of PFF...  Mailata is working and getting better.  But, he's not arrived yet.   But, he's the best OL we have out there now that Kelce is playing with one arm.

We haven’t seen an Eagle play at a pro bowl level at any position in a bit; I think people forget what it looks like.

Whenever Lane is healthy, he's a pro bowl caliber RT, same with Brooks.

Mailata is probably 2 years away, but just the improvement this season, with no exhibition games, is amazing - it's easy to forget this is his third season of football in his LIFE. If he had come over and gone to college, red shirt freshman, and this would be his junior season, he might be the 1st pick in the draft. He's the same age as Driscoll, for example. Imagine Mailata in his second college season, it would be no contest against college DL.

One of howies strategies seems to be to pretty much avoid the SEC .....ya know the best conference in college football... so there goes Chase ....

I'll never see a response to this since I'm not bothering to read this thread anymore. At least not for a while. But I wanted to pop in briefly to make a point. After the Cowboys game, there was a discussion about whether a team is allowed to "kick off" after a safety. I said they could. Others said they can't. Well, I happened to see a video a few days ago which showed a kickoff after a safety. If I knew how to send video links (I'm computer incompetent), I'd do so. It's from the Jomboy Youtube video where a college team took an intentional safety late in the game because their longsnapper kept sailing the ball over the punter's head. They didn't want to risk giving up a cheap touchdown so  they had the quarterback just run back about thirty yards into the endzone. And then they kicked off (with a tee) from the twenty yard line. Now, is this just a college rule and not a pro rule? I don't know. But I KNEW I had seen teams kick off after safeties.

Also @In2football  Eagles 17 Saints 15. I have been planning all along to pick the Eagles in every one of their final four games, anticipating some sort of playoff push. With the decision they made the other day, I'm not really feeling that anymore. But what the hell, I'm gonna stick with my intended pick. And I went for "17" because that's where they've been dialed in of late. It would have been their fourth straight game with that number if Jake Elliott had made that late extra point.

Oh...and did anyone else sarcastically comment after the Reagor punt return for a touchdown that "Jefferson wouldn't have dropped that ball"?

Carry on.

Actually, he played fairly well last preseason at RT, before he was IR'd.

You can "kick off" in the NFL after a safety, you just can't use a tee.

After a safety is scored, the ball is put into play by a free kick. The team that was scored upon must kick the ball from their own 20-yard line and can punt, drop kick, or place kick the ball. In professional play, a kicking tee cannot be used – however, a tee can be used in high school or college football.
