Is it even bad at all? Is there an example?

Actually the primary oppression of Christians in this country was that of Catholics by Protestants, and even then it was mostly class based, Lace Curtain Irish Catholics never experienced the prejudice faced by "Shanty" Irish, Italians, Poles and Mexicans. Mormons also faced intense prejudice, but I'll leave it to others whether they count as Christians.

Of course, one of the primary supporters of the separation of Church and State in the 1st amendment came from Baptists, partially b/c they didn't want to pay taxes to support the Anglican church (which became the Episcopalian Church, the religion of the Protestant ruling class).

Funny how things change, as the conservative Protestant churches have gained more economic and political power, they now feel constrained by the 1st Amendment, as it limits their ability to impose their beliefs on their fellow citizens.

The Founding Fathers (especially Jefferson and Madison) were well aware of the wars of religion that wracked Europe for hundreds of years after the Reformation, and wanted to avoid such conflict here by keeping government out of religion.

Carson might have to be converted from WR to CB for this week with all these CB injuries.

Schwartz would have him play man on Michael Thomas all over the field.

It'll be interesting to watch what they do with JJAW after this season.

Ertz is probably history, which explains why they're bringing in all these H-back projects (Wilson, Butler), though Perkins probably returns.

JJAW simply lacks the quickness to get separation as a WR, but he is a good blocker and if he added 5-10 lbs could be a H-back candidate. At H-back, he'd be matched against SS and LBs, and might be better able to separate - but he's have to show he can handle LBs in the run game.

Open your eyes. If you want to get into politics.

Rioters and looters not super spreaders

Christians holding services are.

Who is imposing their beliefs?

The reformation was caused by a corrupt Catholic church. Lumping them into a post about protestants shows a lack of understanding of history.

Jason Peters is really deluded about his abilities.  There was little interest in him this offseason, and coming off another yet another season ending injury, he assumes someone will sign him?   A sure fire HOFer, but he needs to let it go and accept that WW2 is over.  The world has moved on

ORRRR he's a genius.  He swindled the Eagles for what $8 million and he played 6 games?  He broke a toe for $8 million.  You can drop a brick on my foot for $8 million and I'll rehab for 4 months.

That is a bit simplistic. The reformation caught traction because of a variety of factors, including nationalism, property grabs, and wanting a cut of the religion business.

I'm starting to doubt that's true...

He can't get into the Hall of Fame for 5 years after he retires.  If he never actually retires, he'll never be eligible.

The Eagles are the sepia tinged team who keep looking at the old footage thinking the old JP is in there.  It's like a real life version of a Hallmark NFL movie

I think someone who has been as good as he is for as long as he has been finds it hard to admit he can't do it anymore

As to the imposition of beliefs, US currency brandishes the phrase, "In God WeTrust.”

As an atheist, that is an unwanted imposition of religious beliefs into my life.

He should watch the game film... but tell him it's a college kid and the Eagles want him to break down their tape for them, because they want to draft this kid in the first round.

Wow, always fun to come back to the blog after a couple hours when things have gone off the rails.  Good stuff, and oh yeah.................

Agree. He think he can keep up with the young guns, and while Andrew Whitworth is out there, he has committed to a different fitness regime. JP, sadly, keeps on doing the same offseason expecting it to work as it always did.  There is no way I could run cross country in the same way that I did at school unless I completely changed my lifestyle.  Turning up in running gear and looking the part won't work...

It was the year 1517 when the German monk Martin Luther pinned his 95 Theses to the door of his Catholic church, denouncing the Catholic sale of indulgences — pardons for sins — and questioning papal authority. That led to his excommunication and the start of the Protestant Reformation.

Yeah, Martin Luther was a ****, vicious Anti-Semite who sucked up to his aristocratic supporters and condemned peasants who revolted against oppression, very "Christian" of him. He wasn't an ascetic either, so his criticism of the Church's opulence was a bit hypocritical.

John Calvin was a far superior human being, though a depressing theology.

I didn’t mean that God was mythical.  I was myopically reacting to what seemed like an excuse to me.

My wife has a cousin who is a ne’erdowell.  Every time his family has a negative thing happen, he claims it is God’s plan rather than owning up for his own failures and striving to do better.  Fired for all sorts of justified reasons, it is God’s plan.   That’s blaming God and not taking responsibility. I would say mythical.   I have to wonder if Carson isn’t taking responsibility for his failure to address his issues.  He sure hasn’t fixed them.  My grandfather, a devout Lutheran, would say that God isn’t going to remove that rusty nut (after Dad or one of his brothers asked for divine intervention) so we are going to have to figure out how to do it. My meaning was more along the way my Grandpa meant.

No offense meant to you or others.

Fair enough. But I don't think that's the case with Wentz.

Of course not, I'd demand more to play LT.  Don't be silly.  I'm not a sucker.

I'll get runover at RG for $4M.  But, to get run around at LT, I'll require an additional payment.

Watch us hire someone worse than Howie Roseman.
