yup...as if people never heard of "step up in the pocket"...e45 with his negativity and incessant repetitiveness just gets really old after a short time...

Get over yourself and open up to critiques on young players.

Fair enough. But I don't think that's the case with Wentz.

The fact that his teammates have shown such support suggests he neither alienated them by being a prima donna QB or by being obnoxious about his faith.

Rather, I get the vibe that they're both perplexed and feel guilty about how they've let him down.

The fact that Wentz seems to sincerely support Hurts and is wiling to play scout QB (many would have sulked) I suspect has only increased his teammates' success.

With this news, I bet NFL owners are like:

Nothing Doug has shown me this season tells me he could win a game right now with Patrick Mahomes as QB. That said, people need to watch some tape of Jalen Hurts. Not highlights but every play of a game. This kid is really good. The biggest difference between Wentz and Foles and him is SPEED. Whether throwing or running he processes and makes decisions QUICKLY. He times his game to the rush. Once he tucks the ball in, he's a full-fledged RB a la Shady. But he has an arm with TOUCH.

With the D picking it up, we can win this game.

My interview list for Howies replacement, in no order.

Daniel Jeremiah -  former Eagles scout, current TV guy

Joe Schoen - Assistant GM, Buffalo Bills

Mike Borgonzi - former player, Director of Football Operations, KC Chiefs

Morocco Brown - Director of College Scouting, Indianapolis Colts

Nick Caserio - Director of Player Personal, New England Patriots

I think someone who has been as good as he is for as long as he has been finds it hard to admit he can't do it anymore

Of course...but Peters is very noteworthy amongst future HOF players across all sports in just how badly he has played and how long he has done it in hanging on too long...and in the selfish nature of his behavior during the decline.

Matt Millen.

We go over Howie what if's for the past, here's a fun one for the future...

What if Jordan Mailata looks like a stud franchise LT next year?  His contract expires after 2021.  What if he then takes a page out of "mentor" Jason Peters playbook and refuses to play under the tag?  Can the 2022 Eagles afford to extend him?

What the hell are you talking about? Wasn't all that long ago Rodgers had a bad year. That happens with quarterbacks especially when the team around them is absolute garbage. That said I think Wentz will bounce back (just like Rodgers) and some in here don't. I think what you'll find is that mostly the same people that liked Wentz before still do and the ones that didn't still don't.

I think he can bounce back too. I’m just saying people can miss me with the confidence excuse from having issues with backup QBs.

A schlub on his couch drafting BPA from the ESPN  ticker would be better than Howie.

Then he’d be better than Jerry Reese too. 45 draft picks over 2008-2013, 0 of them on the 2018 roster.

Still not getting what you are saying

The whole notion that Wentz looking behind him at his backups being the reason that he’s been shook even on potentially good plays. The whole not being the QB that actually won the super bowl thing.

if the argument is Wentz has been bad because the talent and coaching around him I agree. I feel he’s missing stuff himself but unsure if that’s physical or mental.

if the argument is that he’s been bad because his confidence is shaken because of the factors I stated above, then I don’t believe them but if it were to be true I couldn’t sign off on him being our QB due to lacking confidence.

then I compared it to Aaron Rodgers and the Jordan Love situation. People said "well one is Aaron Rodgers a future HOF and the other is Carson Wentz.” To which I my original post about us seeing them two being similar back in 2017 came to be.

Literally have never been more furious with the Eagles. If Howie survives this debacle. I might not forgive Lurie.

He blew it in the Pumphrey draft. Blew it JJAW. Blew it in the Hollins draft. How many times can this guy single handily tank the franchise?

I believe that he has also irreparably damaged his legacy as well.  He's become a punch line now.   Its a shame.

We’ll end up with the better LSU receiver

He has been pretty selfish the last few years. I agree that he kind of tarnished his legacy.

Jefferson is having one the greatest rookie seasons of all time man. Chase probably wont have a rookie year like this, Sadly.  I'm high on Devonta Smith too. Either way. Passing on JJ will forever be talked about as a massive mistake in Eagles history.

Former Vikings players are already thinking JJ will be one of the best Vikings of all time. The praise the kid is getting makes me sick. Good for him. Disgusted with how bad the franchise as mismanaged everything. You couldn't write a more ridiculous movie.

Pretty sure we will be getting another top 10 pick next year.

He’s playing out of his mind. Good for him. We’ll see if he can sustain it. I‘ll take whoever has a better career. Just hope Howie isn’t making the pick.

If they handle 2021 correctly, they create a lot of space for 2022 and the future.  But, truthfully, the first year of a new deal is often fairly low for a cap hit... as its a minimal salary and a big signing bonus...

But, to get the amount of space I was making available, it would be a complete gut job, and would actually involve reworking Wentz' contract to turn his guaranteed salary and roster bonus into a signing bonus to create $18M in space... and then drop Alshon, Desean and Goodwin to free up $17M more.  If that was good enough with the salary cap staying the same as this year... they'd then be able to make trades to take hits in 2021(minimal savings in 2021, but freeing up the hits in 2022 entirely).

It would involve dropping a fair amount of talent... but all of it would be aging talent and wouldn't be here anyway when they get things straightened out.

Ward and Reagor both had longer completions Sunday (32 and 34 yards) from Jalen Hurts against a Super Bowl contender than Metcalf had from Wilson (21 yards) against a team with a losing record.

So it is only a matter of time before Seattle fans start a Greg Ward vs. Dk Metcalf thread.

Could have had both

My guess is that Jefferson will win rookie of the year and Jeremy Chinn will win defensive rookie of the year and that would just be the most Eagles ending ever to this god awful 2020 season.
