I grew up watching Rice.  I must be older than you.

I grew up watching Red Grange.

Samuel Jr is on my board as a day two pick.  Doesn’t have the ball skills of his dad, though. Rice is looking good for the Buffaloes. Really a fan of Surtain.  Looks better than his dad.

He's a much better man defender than his dad.  He's dad was pretty much 100% zone CB only.

There is another 'Nole that might be interesting for the Eagles. Hamsah Nasirildeen is a 6'4" S - might be a nice piece to match up against TEs.

he tore his ACL last year trying to tackle Kadarius Toney. Id be ok drafting one, but itd be cruel to Hamsah to draft both and make him practice against Toney every day. Id prefer Toney.

Disappointed Taylor suffered a knee injury last week. Would have liked to see him spy Hill tomorrow.

And a much better tackler from what the reports say, though Senior set a low bar there.

I’ll put Hurts down for a 17/31 and 180 yards with 1 TD/1 INT this Sunday.  He’ll be running quite often so he’ll likely be over 60 yards rushing.

I find it very hard to objectively look at Bama CB's.  It's very easy to see when they're wildly overrated, but most in the past 10 years I feel like have been throwing darts at a board with your eyes closed.

Asante was actually pretty darn good in man, but his strengths were keeping the play in front of him and baiting the QB.  His film study habits were not human.

Saints have held the Bucs and Falcons to a combined 12 points, along with dominating three other teams over the last five weeks.

Now we expect Hurts to go in, for his first start, and actually perform?

I would love to have any DB study film like Asante.  Made adequate athleticism work toward elite.  This year, there were elite WRs that used feints, change of speed, jukes etc. to get open, including Reagor, who has an elite lean feint and a very good step feint.  Hightower has a nice lean feint and very good change of pace on slants, for example.  If they have tells, Asante could tell you. I can’t begin to state how skilled that was in real time play.  (It’s one thing to see the tells and quite another to react in real time).  His kid may have more athletic talent but Asante’s reads were phenomenal.

I’m excited to see what Hurts can do, but feel like it’s going to be a rough game to watch tomorrow.

Hurts with a super long day against a good defense that holds him in pocket and make him use his arm.

Well this wild year is winding down.  The Eagles have been the story of the week with the change to Jalen.  His first test.  One of the top Defenses in the league.  They're 3-8-1 and yes still in the Division race.   There are also 4 games left so I will root for the guys to do well. Our last win was November 1st against the Cowboys.  That was 6 weeks ago.   Everyone is saying there is no way we can win this game.  But Washington shocked the Steelers, Giants Shocked the Seahawks.   Any Given Sunday right?.  Jalen has been on the sidelines in every game, getting a play here or there.  Soaking everything up.  Last week showed me he was paying attention and truly learning.   This week will show me more.   Good luck to Jalen on his first start in the NFL.

I have been in the following state before and find myself here again: play well and lose.  For me, Eagles must maintain their high draft pick and hopefully get in the top 5 for either picking a top player or being in position for a good trade.  I want Hurts, Reagor, Mailata to play well, but lose.  An 8 game losing streak to end the season is our best hope for Howie being demoted.  Even one win with Hurts playing well strengthens his case to have one more shot at it.

I think The Eagles have a good shot at winning. Taysom Hill has won 3 games, the first Falcons game they had the advantage because the Falcons had no idea what the Saints offense would look like, the Broncos literally had no QB, and then the 2nd Falcons game was a close game. I think the Eagles d line will make a big impact on the game. I think we had somewhat of an advantage because they don’t quite know what our offense will look like Sunday.

By all accounts, Howie is attached to Jeff's hip... so, when you say Howie, is it really just Howie, or Howie doing Jeff's bidding?    I don't know.   I'll really be surprised if Jeff fires him.  He needs to go, absolutely... but I'll believe it when I see it.   Which makes me sad, because I really have no interest in watching the next permutation of Howie or hearing about how Howie had certain players rated higher, but he selected other players instead due to pressures from the likes of Joe Douglas, etc.  I am tired of the scapegoating that goes on to protect Howie.  But, I put that squarely on Jeff... he's the one that constantly protects Howie.

That's a good point. If Howie is doing the best he can to implement Lurie's desires, he cannot be held responsible for the mess the Eagles find themselves in.

Eagles have no choice but to leak this. Saying otherwise kills his trade value.

There's zero chance Hurts looks great this week, which is what would be needed to beat a good team like the Saints. Best case scenario he'll look serviceable as an NFL starter which would be a good bit better than what we've been used to seeing for the season.

It will be up to the new coach we get when the time comes, as for now of course they will say this. Cause Doug won’t win another game this year except Maybe the Dallas game

I find myself conflicted about this game.  I know most/all of you will say to just root for the best and stop being negative/overthinking it, but that's not how I work.

I would love nothing more than for Hurts to be the Eagles next great franchise QB, but I don't believe he's capable of that.  As such, I worry that any spark, flash, or good things he shows may lead the franchise down an ill-fated path in the wrong direction...not to mention a path that might give Howie a disingenuous stronghold to cling to his GM job for the next few years.

On the other hand, Hurts has been coached remarkably poorly for a rookie QB with franchise aspirations.  He's been coached to run, to line up at WR, to take handoffs next to the QB...to be a gimmick, part of Doug's smoke and mirrors show.  So if he DOES demonstrate any fluidity or nuance as a passer in understanding a pro defense or going through progressions, it will be no small feat...more of a miracle, really.
