I want to pile on Howie as much as the next guy, but here's a prediction: Justin Jefferson's career best year will be his rookie year.

I find myself conflicted about this game.  I know most/all of you will say to just root for the best and stop being negative/overthinking it, but that's not how I work.

As the Eagles are going to lose today anyway, you can root for the team and not feel guilty about it. Root for the young players to play well.

agreed.

Never considered that was an issue, but I guess it would be roughly the same as any other organs... just isn't good to have.   I suppose the castration would just be part of the field dressing process.

I love learning obscure things on the blog.

Well I've never left the nuts on anything I've killed so I'm guessing it's part of the process. We are going on a "guided" hunt so if it's a different thing that will be on them

I would love nothing more than for Hurts to be the Eagles next great franchise QB, but I don't believe he's capable of that.  As such, I worry that any spark, flash, or good things he shows may lead the franchise down an ill-fated path in the wrong direction...not to mention a path that might give Howie a disingenuous stronghold to cling to his GM job for the next few years.

On the other hand, Hurts has been coached remarkably poorly for a rookie QB with franchise aspirations.  He's been coached to run, to line up at WR, to take handoffs next to the QB...to be a gimmick, part of Doug's smoke and mirrors show.  So if he DOES demonstrate any fluidity or nuance as a passer in understanding a pro defense or going through progressions, it will be no small feat...more of a miracle, really.

If it helps I don't think Hurts has a snowballs chance of being a franchise q.b.

Anyone else concerned that if he keeps pushing this, he's going to make it much worse long-term? He's had a calf and knee injury in back to back weeks.

By the time the Eagles are competitive again, Slay will be closer to Cary Williams than Darius Slay.  So we might as well get our money's worth now.

Should just sit him. He'll get embarrassed by Thomas and only increase the chance of a season ended injury that will now end up cutting into next offseason

So what the hell are we doing? If he's not going anywhere, with that contract he's gonna play next year. I guess if Hurts miraculously looks competent we can trade him for draft picks.

Probably didn't help when they tried to screw the Eagles over by ignoring their defense and picking offensive guys

I could totally see them taking Chase just to F with us if they get higher than us in the draft

@In2football

Saints- 31

Eagles- 13

Plus the fact that Doug is calling 80% pass plays like a moron, not helping protect him with a run game. Doug is going to get Carson injured. Best to rest him and ensure hes not going to get killed.

I can get onboard with that logic. I just feel Howie and Doug are gonna be back next year regardless of what we think or want. I don't see Lurie tossing either one yet.

Even if JJ could only play the slot, most teams run 3 wrs sets as a base so he would still have great value if hes as good as hes shown only in the slot. Plain and simple, speed is over rated. As I mentioned before the draft, give me a great route runner with Good hands and Ill take that over elite speed everyday of the week.

Howie will be back, they might add a advisor again or a GM and Keep Howie as Executive Vice President title. Doug I think is gone. I think they know they cant keep him. Even if they force him to give up play calling/game planning it proves he is not worth keeping due to him not realize it himself that his offense is below avg . I think there is major tension between Doug and Howie/Lurie.

The whole point of drafting Hurts was to have a solid #2 QB.  Getting him some game action makes him better prepared for next season.

You would think so, but I just see winning the SB for the first time in Franchise history and making playoffs three years in a row is gonna buy Doug a bad year pass.  I do think they will force a real OC on him though.
