Is this a sick joke?

Hurts has been decisive in the pocket when he stays there, which is probably his best quality so far. I'm not a big fan of that flush-out to the right boundary which hasn't resulted in much, but it at least keeps the play alive. The Ertz catch should have been overturned. But most importantly, he hasn't made any stupid decisions to kill a great outing from the defense so far.

Hurts looks a lot like a 2nd year Donovan McNabb... with a bit more accuracy... in this game.

Very promising, for us or as a trade asset.

Im sure this game isnt gonna bring people around on the Hurts pick. But some hated the pick because its a backup QB in round 2 which seems crazy. Others questioned his actual ability as a QB. Those people should be opening their eyes. This is not bad at all for a 1st NFL game, against a really hot defense, with an offense that has looked completely broken all year.

If he continues this through the rest of the year, you can either trade him, or Wentz for a 1st round pick and more.

Not getting that value out of Wentz on his contract and what he showed the last two years. No way.

I see your math skills are as good as your  grasp of the English language Solid Contribution Guy. The opposition has zero points it’d be hard for us to be behind.

So our offense has no impact on our defense? Good one, smart guy. This defense has been hampered all year from Wentz's turnovers and inefficiencies. Go back to slurping.

We'll see.  Both Hurts and the offense need to evolve.

We've seen this movie 100 times with various teams, including our Eagles.  If you rely too much on a QB's legs, both from the standpoint of the overall offense and the QB's development, it can be a nice show for a while, but it comes crashing down.

Sure, but the majority of today's QBs make plays with their legs. It's hard to win when you don't.

Make no mistake, Hurts is showing he can play. The Saints D is no joke and he's not playing with tons of skill around him.

I think Hurts looks more like Vick but he certainly doesn’t seem to have the arm as either of them.

Just the fact that he saw that blitz and got the ball out quick to the correct WR was all I needed to see.

For those who care - Alex Smith is leaving the field early before the half. He was getting a lot of attention earlier on the sideline.

How far behind would the be Eagles be with Wentz starting today? Hard to support a loser isn't it?

Well, the Saints have zero points, so .....

It’s all about avoiding unnecessary hits. Hurts runs more than Wentz, but no doubt if Wentz started today he would’ve taken more hits.

Also factor in a team possibly trading up for a Trey Lance, or maybe a Jones

There’s still a long ways to go. I won’t speculate too much until draft order is set. Hell, eagles still have a shot at winning the division lol.

jake elliott is a wentz fan.

So many guys like Elliot that we owe so much cash thanks to for the Super Bowl, but have to go.

Elliott is basically unmovable.  No one will trade for a kicker with the yips, but even if they did - only saves $200k+. Terrible.

But, this game might save Howie's job... and that makes me ill.   He's dug this craphole that the team is in...

So what I wanted to see from Hurts in this game vs a top 3 D is to play smart and not take bad sacks and turn the ball over.  So far he's doing just that.  I figured he'd use his legs and get some chunk runs scrambling out of the pocket.  I do like he's thrown the ball away at least 3 times that I've seen, though I missed the 1st QTR and only watched the 2nd QTR.  He hasn't been sacked yet and hasn't turned it over either (knock on wood 3X).  The O definitely looks better.  As Moose said, though, now guys are out there making plays that they weren't making before so that helps.  It does seem like they've put some new wrinkles in the O, like rollouts and crossing routes.  Curious to see if Doug continues this scheme with the O and if our D can continue to contain their O.

A shame that nice drive with just over a minute left ended with Jake ishing the bed yet again.  Hopefully that doesn't take away from the O's confidence.

We can’t even "take the points” anymore. Pathetic. Can’t even blame Doug for that one, although I’d let my hot rookie try to pile on Sean Payton, if it were me

wentz hurt the team with picks and fumbles giving the other team short fields

Dave Fipp has routinely picked the wrong PR and can't fix Elliott. He's gotta go.
