That's an old, outdated fallacy.  This isn't 1990.  This is 2020.

Two of the top QB's in league (Mahomes and Wilson) are mobile QB's who started out their careers running the ball quite a bit. (And still do)   And both have Super Bowl rings.

I don't think Hurts has their arm talent.  But he played a nice game today.

If this game showed me anything it's that my love of Eagles football has declined considerably. I used to look forward to every game like it was a holiday and even today when the team was winning and playing well I was miserable. I think if the Eagles F up another offseason I'm gonna take a break. All it's been doing lately is causing me agita and angst.

I spend the half the damn games just reading crap on my phone these days. Maybe it's just the funk of 2020 and COVID or whatever, but it feels like it's been forever since I actually woke up on a Sunday being fired up about Eagles football. Even in week 1 this year I really wasn't because I hated what they did in the offseason and expected this to be a down year.

Wish the world wasn't Fed so I could take a damn vacation somewhere. I need one asap.

Does anyone think this team will be a contender in the next two seasons? Probably not. That being said, Miles Sanders will be worth more this offseason than he ever will be again. If I’m Howie, I’m looking to deal him. Realistically, I think they could get a day 2 and day 3 pick for him.

That’s my plan this offseason. Prepare to make a run at a QB in 2022.

100% agreed on trading him.  Along with just about everyone else.

But what would I trade, if I ran a different team, for a RB with durability issues and 2 years left on a rookie deal?  3rd round pick, max, if I thought he was THE missing piece.

i still believe doug has failed the team , i know it's hurts 1st game but carson has played bad since week 1 and IMO  they should have started hurts after the bye week. he would have had 2 weeks to prep for the giants and i think the team could have beat the giants , browns and seahawks. the team could have command of the division and hurts on a roll.

I disagree, I think a young, athletic QB covered his warts for a game.  Just like Carson did at the end of last season.

That was against horrible teams. Today was against one of the best defenses in the league on a 9 game winning streak.  The offense opened up today. RPO's, more misdirection, etc. All stuff that Wentz doesn't want to do. Ho many more articles, tweets, etc do you need to believe that Wentz is stubborn and does what he wants. Foles and now Hurts have success because they run the offense.

I think Sanders is talented enough to get a 3rd and conditional late round pick. The two teams playing now would love to have him.

Eeh...Mahomes runs behind the LOS to extend his passing windows.  He's a passing qb through and through.  Wilson evolved into a passing QB, although he did run too much when he was younger.

Mobile QB's...great.  Running QBs...no bueno.  And that's more true today than it was 10 years ago and even more true than 10 years before that.

Every couple years, franchises venture way down the wrong path with a Mike Vick, Cam Newton, RG3, Lamar Jackson, and Kyler Murray.  It works for a bit, and it'll go nowhere eventually.

The jury is still out on Lamar Jackson, he's just getting started.

And I specifically stated that both Mahomes and Wilson were "mobile" not just "running" QB's.  And being mobile also means, "extending passing windows" not just rushing for yards. ;)

Mahomes rushed for 272 yards in his first year as a starter.  He's not even close to a running QB.

Wilson was used as a running qb...and a lot of people who follow and study that team would argue that it was to his detriment.

Or in about 3 weeks teams will have him figured out and that will be that. He played okay today but let's not act like he's Russell Wilson

Extending passing windows with mobility is great.

I would argue that rushing for yards is objectively bad for a QB.

Yup I think hurts is more than a running qb he's a mobile one.

I still don't understand why they dressed Alshon, JJAW and Watkins and kept Hightower in street clothes.  Yea, Alshon had a TD.  Did JJAW even play a snap?  Would Hightowers speed have helped at all against the Saints D?  Do they even want to see their young players develop?  It blows my mind.  Then you dress Jordan Howard and did he get a snap?  They act like Boston Scott is actually better than Darren Sproles in his prime.  I just don't get it.

Also, there has to be more to the Will Parks story.  For him to be talking so much trash on twitter he has to have some feelings.  Don't the Eagles have enough football guys to see that they are a seriously injured team and that it only takes 1/2 injuries to have Wallace and Epps at safety?  Not that Parks is an All-Pro but geez the way he was sold to us all summer as a 12th starter as the 3rd safety you would think he could have done something.  Makes zero sense at all.

Being able to do that is good, needing to do that is a problem.

He may be, but the onus is on Doug to use him like one.  Today, he was a running QB.

Hurts is a running Tyrod Taylor. That’s all.

Join the club.  I was Christmas shopping online, helping with a meal amongst other things.  I'm actually more depressed with this win because I fear that Lurie is going to buy in to this fools gold thinking Howie was a genius for drafting Hurts, Alshon can still play and DP knows how to call a game.

Yup.  Without even meaning to... I counted 3 straight 3rd downs (might have all been in a row) that were designed QB runs.   the last one was a 3rd down on a 3rd and 5, that turned into a 4th and 1, right before he got stuffed on that QB sneak.    It almost seemed like Doug's plan on those plays was to get close enough for 4th down to be able to go for it without being called reckless.

yeah would have been nice for doug to call howards # on jalens QB sneak fail.

I don't know he didn't take any sacks seemed to move around well and throw the ball on the move though he did run a bit much on those rpos but if that what the defense gives you one goes with it and that threat opens up  Sanders game

Wentz didn't run the offense in 2017?  Wentz didn't run the offense last season?  Ridiculous. As for the articles, I always think there is some truth but never the full truth.

Yep.

He passed for 3851 yards, 32 TD's and only 8 int, in 14 games in his senior year at Oklahoma.

This entire, "Hurts is only a running QB" narrative is a fallacy.

Lol lots of goal post moving here in the thread.

Yup he was a really efficient passer in college.

Only if they develop the bad habit of running before going through all their reads.  (Aka running first).

But if they run to avoid pressure first, extend plays...then run...that's perfectly ok.
