We have often speculated that Afan and Howie were one in the same.

I know... exactly what I am suggesting.

I’m very concerned about that. It’s demoralizing.

All fans really ask for is hope and right now what is there to look forward to?

Can’t look forward to free agency because our cap situation is Fed.

Can’t look forward to the draft unless Howie is fired.

Hell, can’t even fully invest our emotions in Hurts because I think we all know damn well because of his contract they’re gonna make Wentz have to lose the job next year for Hurts to be the guy and Wentz will likely be starting on opening day.

Wish we had one thing we could grasp on to. A young stud defense, an elite GM you know will turn things around. A QB that looks like the next top 3 QB. Cap room. Something.

I don't know how any reasonable human being could look at our current roster makeup and our salary cap situation and not fire Howie. If he's still calling the shots this offseason I'm going to lose my marbles.

Listen I’ve been getting killed for weeks for saying I can’t root for them to lose. You’re fighting a losing battle.

😭😭 I see

So Pittsburgh playing w/o their best corner as well as others and playing against a supposedly good Offense. Can anyone honestly say they’ve seen this from our defense since Jim Johnson has been here.

Just for everyone saying Howie and Doug should go ... don’t forget Schwartz.

Look, the season is lost.  The goal is to develop, not to win games.

I'm a big believer into forcing people to excel at their weaknesses.

If you are trying to develop a QB who is not comfortable rolling out to his leftside, then design some plays to make him do it.  Force Ben Simmons to toss up some 3's.

If you have a QB who needs to prove he's more than a runner, then make him sit in the pocket all game long and distribute the football.

You "adjust your scheme to your players' strengths" when you are in a playoff run and the players are veterans with fixed deficits.  When you have a 22 year old QB who is a ball of clay, you don't design 20 runs and make him roll out on every play.  Then he's mentally going to live up to his own expectations of being a limited passer.

That’s the problem. We develop like s___.

I think Sweat is up to 6 sacks on the season, and Barnett has 5.5.

Wonder how many less snaps Sweat has needed to outproduce Barnett.

Clean sweep....

If it were my job to develop Hurts as a QB and I had complete job security (because fans would be flipping out at the game plans)...I'd tell him that he can't leave the pocket for the next 2 weeks unless he's truly chased out of it.  No runs.  See the field.  Use your targets.

What do you think would make him a better QB 2 years from now?  That, or running the ball 15 times per game with one token, telegraphed deep pass on the primary read per half with designed rollouts on every single passing play?

I think what you describe last is exactly the type of offense Doug wants to run.

Jalen needs to finish season, get a camp and off-season as starter, a play games next season so we can actually see what he can be.  He’s just raw thrown into the fire right now. He executed the game plan today with poise and no panic and it was encouraging.  Problem is that probably won’t happen.

Well, everyone has complained that our offense lacks an identity.  Doug really has carved out an identity for the offense.  It's not about run/pass.  It's about the part of the field that is used.

Dink, dunk, horizontal passes, 2 TEs with a big, slow possession WR with one token "spacer" WR at Z.  15-18 play drives.  That has been the identity of this offense for 3 years now.  At this point, it's the design.  That's Eagles football.  It's what the coach wants.

Made a mistake on that call.

The TE was covered up, but didn't go out for the pass, he stayed in and blocked.  That was a legal formation.

With some of the roughing the passer calls around the NFL today (and the one with Hurts in our game), I am again calling into question the value of investing in edge rushers moving forward.

Yeah, I realize Sweat basically won the game today, but you have to take a look at the conventional blueprint for success if you can't hit QB's anymore.

Which is kinda gross in today’s NFL.
But if he wants 15 play drives not sure why we run no huddle so much.

They are the kings of the 15 play, 40 yard drive that stalls out due to a penalty or loss of yardage play. And then they get stuffed going for it on 4th and 3 on the 45 yard line. It feels like the objective of Doug’s offense is not to get a first down on first or second down. It’s to get to a 3rd and short in order to give them two plays to get a first down.

I think it is a product of projection - it is the kind of offense that Doug the QB would need to be successful.

This is an interesting concept.  It may very well be why he play calls so well for the backups.

Actually that was 4th down, so the strip sack wasnt necessary to get that field position.  Just needed to get Hill on the ground.

The Cleveland Indians are changing their name.

Should the state of Indiana and city of Indianapolis be renamed as well?

Let's not exaggerate Hurt's performance.

He threw for 167 yards on 30 attempts - a pedestrian 5.6 yards/attempt. Roughly 45 of those yards were two completions to Reagor who made big gains out of short passes.

A completion percentage of 57%.

He should have had a pick-six to go along with his fumble.

The best part of his performance was running which I do not think is a sustainable strategy.

It was his first career start and against what might be the best defense in the league. Nobody thinks he was great but anyone with half a brain would look at his performance and command of the offense and come away impressed.

Cowboys, Vikings, and Buccaneers might as well be considered offensive too at this point.

As part Cherokee Indian, I don't find their name to be offensive at all

You dont teach the duck to run fast. You let the duck swim

you manage weaknesses. Let people excel at their strengths.

thats for the coach

the GM needs to be asking if the teams set of strengths are complete or good enough to challenge for a title
