Btw why did we cut Poyer after a year. Whenever I see a Bills game he's always a very active player making tackles etc.  Too bad we could not develop him but not surprising as we dont develop any Dbs. So in actuality Chips first draft was pretty good. Lane, Ertz and Poyer.  Bennie Logan was decent too.

Chip just drafted the bad players from the way I’ve always understood it.

your correct , he wasn't throwing worm burners today , they all were for the most part on target.

A McLeod injury would be bad. He’s the best player behind the D-Line

The Eagles win was fantastic today because of who they beat, and the fact it knocked the Saints out of the #1 seed in a season where only the #1 seed gets a playoff bye.

What Hurts showed today is that he’s a very good #2 QB — which is precisely what he was drafted to be.  He’s not a dynamic enough runner to put up 100 yards per game with his legs; teams will adjust quickly and force him to win games from the pocket as much as possible.  We will see what he shows in the remaining 3 games, but there was no evidence shown today that he can lead a franchise to 11 or 12 win seasons as a starter.  His numbers were just about exactly what I predicted — 17/30 for 167 yards and 1 TD and 1 turnover is rather pedestrian for a starting QB, but he managed the game well

The defense played very well in the first half, and barely well enough in the second half to secure the win.  Need to keep in mind that Taysom Hill is a bottom-tier NFL starter (at best) and you could argue he showed about the same from the pocket that Hurts did.  The difference in the game was the Eagles didn’t allow Hill to get outside the pocket and use his legs.

One other thing with Hurts...Hurts may have piled on the rushing yards in college, but he's mobile for a QB in the mold of a young Mcnabb (only making a comparison from a mobility perspective).

Guys like Lamar Jackson and Murray...when the ball is in their hands...they are like an elite RB or WR.  Completely different level of mobility.  Now, that does nothing for me, as I have beaten to death all night.  But just to be clear, Hurts is not that kind of threat with the ball in his hands anyway.

Hurts is a more physical runner than Jackson or Murray, he's a power back as a runner and can break tackles and gain YAC. So he's not going to make the Sanders' type play where he just blows through the line and off to the races, but given clear space, he's got good but not great speed, is elusive and hard to tackle. You won't get as many big plays but he'll be more consistent getting first down yardage when needed.

OK in a normal person's mind...he made me look now he gets to punch me.  Somehow, there is this thought that the United States is CRAWLING with White Supremacists and everything is now all of the sudden racist.  I honestly don't get it.

The US is crawling with white supremacists.

I think Sweat is up to 6 sacks on the season, and Barnett has 5.5.

Wonder how many less snaps Sweat has needed to outproduce Barnett.

Uh, do you watch Sweat play? He's a pass rush specialist who has been burned repeatedly on run/toss/end around plays to his side because he overcommits to the pass rush, and struggles to seal the edge.

The guy who has really come on since the break is Hargrave, showing why he's worth that contract.

Hurt is as advertised, a guy who can steal you a game or two as a backup QB, but needs a couple years of work to be thought of as a NFL starter.

This was his first ever start against the #1 defensive in the NFL.... He’s only 22 years old. He can improve.

Why are we grading him like he’s a vet?

Because the organization will make decisions after this season that will dictate its direction for the next 5-10 years.

GM — Howie will be back.  Probably shouldn’t be, but will

Head Coach — Doug needs to go; step down, get fired, whatever

OC — there has to be a real one

QB — Wentz #1, Hurts #2.  I’d be very surprised if Hurts shows enough to change that this season.  He played well today and could make fans feel better about the pick — but he’s not a franchise QB, and the Eagles need to make their determination whether to fix the one they have or not

Speechless.  First time since the Andy and Donovan Era this happen.  Plus Saints went 55 games (3 years) without allowing a 100 yard rusher.

If the Eagles beat a very beatable Cardinals team, they're about to piss a lot of people off.

Imagine, if you will... the team and December Doug continue to rally around Hurts, winning their next 3, sneaking in, and hosting a game in the playoffs (thanks to their tie with the Bungles).

Being a large underdog at home, but a team no one wants to play due to momentum and unfamiliarity with Hurts - the team once again dons the dog masks and suddenly regains the magic of ole Saint Nick. They avenge losses to old familiar foes such as Tom Brady/Pete Carrol/Sean Payton on the way to Superbowl showdown with... Big Red.

The game features more record setting offense with no defense, but the Eagles pull off another spectacular upset as major underdogs.

A second statue of Doug is constructed. Kelce puts on his suit and delivers an incredible speech through his Covid mask at the virtual parade. Carson retires. Howie buys a house next to the Novacare as he is assured that he can screw up drafts and contracts for the next decade...

Meh, probably won't happen. But this is 2020, so ya never know...

Next week’s game vs ARI will be the Kingsbury Bowl — we’ll get to see which QB is better at running away from pressure

The Eagles donated $4M to bring Jalen Mills in for 2020 on the full guarantee that he stinks.  At least McLeod is a good player

Wentz is most likely our 2021 starter, but you don’t have to try tearing Hurts down to make Wentz look better. We don’t know if Hurts is a franchise QB or not, but he played well today. If he finishes out the season strong then there’ll probably be a competition next year.

Hurts looks like a good #2 QB.  That’s not tearing him down.  Most of the season I’ve been one of the biggest defenders of the Hurts pick at #53 because the Eagles options for a backup AB stunk.  McCown is old and not very good and Sudfeld stinks regardless of age.

If you threw a coin up in the air and asked me to call it — Hurts throws 3 TD and 280 passing yards with 70 yards rushing next Sunday — or Hurts throws 3 INT and gets shut down by a strong ARI pass rush and secondary — at this point I’d still bet on the latter.  I think that’s just being realistic

To the folks trying to knock down Hurts's performance today -- has Carson Wentz traumatized you so much that you're now repulsed by signature wins and touch passes?

I see Jefferson had 39 yards today, and Metcalf 61.  No wonder it seems quieter in here

Nothing like Eagles fans that jump the gun after one game and claim Jalen Hurts is a #2 QB. Are you people insane? He barely knows the playbook and beat the #1 defense today in his 1st full game. Looked like he belonged and sparked the team. Looked like a totally different football team today, with just one major switch on the field, at quarterback. Wentz has been playing like a deer in headlights all year and is probably done here. Had 5 years to figure it out and people just keep making excuses for the guy, as he keeps regressing further since 2017. This year, he still took way too many sacks, and still didn't throw the ball away. And pressed into playing hero ball and NOT TEAM FOOTBALL. And he still overthrew people and displayed bad accuracy. Totally spit the bit, in leading this franchise after getting the huge contract. The rookie showed him a blueprint in how to play QB in the NFL today, in today's NFL. And did it so effortlessly and calmly, with a backup offensive line and big stiffs for wide receivers. Very impressive starting debut today, on the rears of a nice half in Green Bay last week. Wentz may go ahead and do fine somewhere else, but it won't be here. Reclamation project is his current status here and fairly so. Let's not fool ourselves into thinking anything different. The problem is if you didn't know Wentz was a high draft pick and we traded the farm for him, you'd probably think of him differently. Based on the eye test alone, he is just a not a good QB right now, and may never be. It was a breath of fresh air to see a QB that didn't try to do too much and took what was there. Not beating yourself is a cooool thing! With just average QB play this season, the Birds would be in 1st place right now, no doubt. Took them too long to pull the plug.

I think the bigger thing is the Saints made an adjustment at halftime. In the first half the Eagles had 299 total yards. In the second half the Eagles only manage to get 104 total yards. Part of what the Saints did when I went back and watch the game is there a limited how many times hurts was getting outside pocket and running. His longest run was of 9 yards in the second half. He had runs of 3 or less yards on 4 of his rushes. In the first half he had 74 rushing yards. In the second half he only had 32 rushing yards. They aimed to try to take that away for the most part in the second half. He still had a couple nice runs but they were much better at limiting him in the second half.

This comes down to how is Jalen hurts going to adjust when the league has more tape and adjust to what the Eagles are doing. I think that’s the toughest thing for any quarterback particularly rookie quarterback to do. You’re seeing it right now with Justin Herbert. Justin Herbert over the last three weeks has had 3 touchdown passes and 5 interceptions. While he completed more than 80% of his passes today very few of them were really down the field type of passes. They got back to dinking and dunking down the field to try to get him his confidence back. But that offense over the last three weeks has had 17, 0, 17 points. So you’re seeing the league adjust to what he has done and making him make adjustments.

give credit to hurts and the eagles offense in the first half. They had one of their best outputs on the year. I give credit to the Saints in the second half cause they made the proper adjustments. I’m sure the cardinals will have some wrinkles based off watching film

If Hurts plays 3 more games exactly like the one he played today, and another NFL team calls you after the season with a trade offer for him — what are you telling them?

It depends on what they’re offering me. But then again I know that the Eagles love Jalen hurts. They believe he could be the next Russell Wilson. They said it at the press conference. And I tend to believe that’s what this organization firmly believes he can be that. Whether or not that comes to fruition is a whole other story.

So I don’t know if the Eagles would even consider trading him if he plays like that over the next three weeks. I don’t think they really want to trade Carson Wentz either. Because I think they believe if they trade him now they’re selling them at a low. Now he might never be the same player ever again and you miss the opportunity to sell but I think in that organization they believe they can correct him and increase his value even if they wind up keeping hurts over wentz.

Personally I think there’s only one Russell Wilson and you’re kind of seeing Kyler Murray try to be that but he’s not. he’s has come back down to earth over the last couple games. Teams have made the adjustment to what Kyler Murray likes to do. I’m shocked the Giants didn’t follow the game plan that you’ve seen over the last couple weeks with the Rams, Seahawks. those teams really limited his ability to get outside the pocket (he had some garbage time late in the rams game). When he gets outside of the pocket and is running like he did today that’s when Kyler Murray becomes super dangerous. He’s not good enough as a passer yet to consistently beat you from the pocket. He might do that next week cause I don’t know what the eagles secondary is going to look like but for the most part he’s had trouble beating teams now they’re making him beat him throw the football.

I think Kyler Murray is already the most overrated player in the NFL.  I haven’t seen him in an NFL game yet where I’ve come away impressed.  Now watch him put up 380 yards passing next Sunday.

The Eagles drafted Hurts in the second round, so any offer other than a first round pick would be a non-starter IMO.  The 49ers, Bears, and Broncos are all QB-needy teams that are currently outside the top 10 in draft position.  There are very few quality FA QB that ever hit the market.  Teams do funny things to try to fill the starting QB position.  A really good offer would be unlikely to come until after the draft, so I doubt it’s realistic.
