I'm not ready to anoint Hurts anything at this point, but those of you that are flat out ignoring the difference in his play v Carsons are laughable.

Yes, I didn't like all of the running, but as several people have pointed out, a lot of those were runs that were called by Doug.

Sorry, but I'm just not going to buy that magically everything got better and came together in a conspiracy to make Hurts look better than Carson in this game.

Hurts was flat out a better QB, which in a QB driven league tends to make things better around them.

Can he sustain it and build on it? Who knows? He's already shown more than I expected from him, so I look forward to finding out.

How soon we forget Carson Wentz scoring 29 points in Pittsburgh against the Steelers, the #1 defense in points allowed.

With Jeremy Croom and Hakeem Butler at TE.

Anyone wanna guess what would be posted this morning if Wentz had fumbled and the Saints went down for a TD?

Here are your snap counts

I see that Alshon played more than both Watkins and Fulgham. 🤔

I think the Wentz disgust by some and their subsequent effusive and immediate gushing of Hurts is annoying.  Likewise for them the Carson defense by people like me is equally annoying.  After Carson's first NFL start I think the majority of Eagles fans were pumped and excited, especially given the circumstances leading to that start (broken wrist during TC, hardly any practice with the first team, the trade if the heretofore starting QB just before the season began).

It was fun to watch Hurts as he covered for an offensive line that still can't pick up a blitz, often let more than one defender run free at him and he was able to make plays (a trait we all marveled at with Carson until this season), and is a good enough athlete to help a team severely lacking explosive athletes.

What I find most annoying is folks talking about what a great game Doug called and the Eagles only scored 7 2nd half points, had an RB score on an 80 yard run and a QB that had to rush 16 times.  I'll give Hurts all the credit he deserves, but Doug and the Eagles coaching staff minus Stoutland deserve no credit as Hurts, like Carson and Foles just a bit before him over the past 3 seasons, was good enough to cover their pathetic lack of player development at all key positions and I would say the Eagles are where players regress rather than improve and that is all on coaching.  Furthermore, the situational play calling is atrocious.

I can't say I disagree with this take a whole lot but I do think the game plan was to be more committed to the run. I do think you're right to point out the continued flaws.  Hurts had the most rushing and I only think a handful were true scrambles. His running was part of the game plan and that's not an effective long term offense.  They also finally had an effective misdirection play that allowed Reagor to get 18 yards.  He had another big catch and run on an underneath crossing route.  So while they should get some credit for utilizing Reagor more effectively it begs the question of why not utilize him more.  He only had 4 targets.  I don't think they got him another target where he had space in front of him.

It’s nice that the Eagles played well and beat the team with the #1 D in the league, but more importantly I’m concerned it may have hurt Wentz’s psyche.  So for now best to downplay things.

He was 15 for 30 for like 150 yards passing. those numbers are terrible. The offensive play calls were terrible. They were still predictable, he still had to throw a ton of balls away.

If you think being better at scrambling means "the offense ran better" you dont understand football.

Side note, being better at scrambleing isnt a game plan, and its not sustainable.

It's sustainable, because the majority of runs were called. Baltimore had the #1 ranked offense last year.

RBs always perform better beside running QBs. That's not new.

Wentz haters would have had a field day. They’ve been attacking him all year for no reason at all.

What does that have to do with the price of tea in china?

I agree 100%.  The offense was better with Carson.  Yesterday was an unsustainable fluke that means nothing.  We need Carson’s MVP level pure pocket passing skills if we want to ever win a SB.

LoL. Ya, and they were 1 and done in the playoffs and look like poop this year.. literally the definition of not sustainable

I agree.  Carson Wentz is much better than Lamar Jackson.  Pure pinpoint pocket passing and quick decision making like Carson does is the key to success.

How's that offense looking this year?   2nd in rushing.  Dead last in passing.   17th in TDs.   Seems they've hit a bit of a road block.   That's why its not sustainable.   The truth of the matter is that while you can win running the ball, this is a passing league.  You need to be able to do both... and if you are going to be 1-dimensional, it is far better to be 1-dimensional as a passing team, because that's the way the league is structured.  If they didn't have one of the stingiest defenses in the league, they'd be in real trouble.   And as it stands right now, they are on the outside looking in at the playoffs.    How is that 'sustainable'?

If Carson started we lose 24-0 cause Elliot missed the GD field goal

Fan base doesn't want that.

They want to keep Doug, the guy who got them a superbowl, they want a scramvbing QB who wins ugly games 20-17 because he made a ESPN highlight reel play and we wen up 8-8 each year

I don’t know about Doug, but I know we are going nowhere without Carson.  This year everyone around him has failed him.  Otherwise he’d still be playing at the MVP level that he used to be at.

It appears as if Doug and Wentz are having a contentious staredown.

You can see the hatred in Doug’s eyes.  He’s been sabotaging Carson all year.

Watched the highlights and one of the things that popped into my head immediately after they showed the alshon TD was "would wentz have even thrown that ball?" Like would he have the confidence to put it there and trust Jeffery to turn around? I don't think he would right now.

I do hope he is able get his mind right this offseason.

Alshon would have dropped it or not fought for it if Carson threw it.  He’s been sabotaging Carson all year.

People who think Wentz was the team's primary problem this season can't see the forest for the trees.  We saw the same anemic passing offense put up less than 200 yards in a passing League.  It doesn't matter who the QB is because the offensive scheme is terrible.  Just watch the Bills to see a well run offense with a QB with less than stellar accuracy.

And a GM that went out and brought in a legitimate WR to immediately help his QB.   Eagles went into this season with broken down Alshon, breaking down Desean, career JAG Greg Ward and a bunch of raw rookies, not even the most polished one to come out.   And then they wonder why the passing game sucks.

Agree 100%.  We saw it yesterday.  The offense was just as bad as ever.  Zero improvement.

That’s because the receivers were finally schemed open by Doug.  He refused to do that while Carson was playing.
