7 of our points came on a massive Sanders run

Outside of that carry, he was 13 for 33 yards, 2.5 per carry.

(This is why I keep saying DB and LB are the biggest needs this offseason.)

In terms of where there are legitimate 'holes', meaning not even having bodies at those positions... sure.   Meanwhile, this is an offense driven league and the Eagles have one of the worst... even with Hurts.  Get new coaches in here... get new offensive players in here... and if you need to win games 45-42 to scratch out a victory, so be it.  Fix the defense in 2022.  2021 needs to be about getting quality OFFENSIVE players around whomever the QB is.  No more half-measures on offense.  No more 32 year old WRs that you hope only miss 4 or 5 games a year... no more rolling with aged OL that can't finish 1 game without coming off the field, let alone 16 (looking at you JP... ride off into the sunset already!).  No more rolling with unproven, unpolished rookie WRs as the hope for success, or retread failed 2nd round picks that you hope can actually find a way to play, or a former 6th round pick that has bounced around to multiple teams because he's just not a starter in this league.

Sadly, the cap situation is so screwed up, that they really can't afford to bring in a legitimate NFL WR for even a reasonable salary - Chris Godwin is a free agent this year, and would likely not cost more than Alshon... but they don't have the cap flexibility to bring him in unless there are some massive moves to get rid of old salaries... and a creative contract that puts almost nothing on the books for 2021, and then balloons a bit more after that.  But, this only works if they clear off a TON of dead money that would be hitting in 2022 as well, by just gutting the 2021 roster.  AND... would require an offensive coaching staff that a player like Godwin could believe in to help him succeed, which also means a QB that would help him succeed.  But, this current coaching staff wants to produce 5 yards/attempt in the passing game... which is just putrid in today's NFL.

The ST this year has been hit and miss. The coverage units have been pretty good I've thought. I think the whole staff (not Stoutland), should be canned, including Fipp. The most glaring ST issue is Elliot's consistency. He's been brutal this year.

And Howie has him locked up for years!

What do you expect him to say?  That they finally fixed the offense only after they got rid of Carson?  No way they will never admit it!

I understand you may be going through some form of shock and this is your reaction to it.  Do yourself a favor, try to calm down and relax.  It's not what you think it is.  The world, especially this team, is not based on conspiracy theories.  Just let it go and breathe.

Edit: Just realized you are trolling.  Smh.

I don't get the Schwartz anger this morning. Defense gave up 21 points losing 3 DBs in the game, meaning Schwartz had only 1 of his top 6 CBs. Jackson went out too. The defense had 2 turnovers. Realistically, what did you want?

Barry Sanders was the same way... if you ignored his big runs... he was an average back (statistically), but it was his long runs that got him into the Hall of Fame.

I'm not angry with Schwartz.  I just want all new coaches.  Nothing directed at Schwartz.  He did what he normally does with a bad QB opponent.  He shut them down.   Schwartz against bad QBs is a mismatch and our defense ought to win.  Had he been the DC when the Eagles faced Joe Webb, I have no doubt the Eagles win that game.   But, that's not to say that he deserves to stay as the DC when all the other coaches get swept out.   New HC gets to pick his DC.   Schwartz' contract is also up at the end of the year.  Who's to say he even wants to come back anyway?

Multiple thought this morning still........

A- Hurts was very good yesterday boardline great for what he was asked to do.  I don't think he can beat teams with his arm so it will be very interesting to see the Cards and the team within our division game plan for a run first team and see the results through the air?

B- Can Hurts run like that for multiple games?  He already went to the trainer during the first game?  18 carries isn't a ticket for long term success

C- Speaking of long term success can Hurts and the offense built this way have long term success?  Time and time again the league has tried but it always fails?  If that is the offense they want then Wentz will never be able to take that beating.

D- I don't think the owner wants this type of offense based on his previous comments?  Does the coach?  Is Doug really going to call more run plays than pass plays every game?  Is he going to stick with the run regardless of the outcome?

Have them play like that every week.  If they give up the same 21 points yesterday a few other times this year, we have two more wins.

Problem is, what they did yesterday is skewed by the fact the opponent was starting a back up / gimmick QB, who Payton is trying to make a pocket passer.  At the end of the day, Taysom Hill has 3 wins, two against a 4-8 Falcons team, and 1 against a Broncos team starting a practice squad WR at QB.

The designed runs with Wentz drove me crazy, he's not a running QB and shouldn't be used like one, he uses his athleticism to buy time in the pocket and scramble for yards when open field is presented to him. Teams ignore him in the RPO b/c they know he lacks burst - but this is on Peddy, you play call for the guy in the game.

Hurts is a running QB, which is why he can contribute immediately as a backup QB while he learns how to play in the NFL. He's used to big game pressure (which is why no one should be surprised by his poise), he's a dangerous runner and a decent passer. That gives you a chance if you can play defense. But he's years away from being a NFL starter, missing the summer mini-camps and exhibition game time has set back his development.

And all we have heard is last years 4 game streak to win the division cost us draft position, gave us a false sense of security in who this team really was.

Now Howie and Doug are 1-0 in their quest to be back in full control next year.

Agree, defense played well yesterday.

D - If you add the Hurts scrambles to the pass column and take them away from the run column, I think it was like a 45-55 run-pass ratio.  So, based on what's 'called', they did pass more.  But, their passing game SUCKS.  Their running game out gained the passing game by a significant margin, some of that was the scrambles, but not much.  That's not really sustainable in the NFL.  When the QB has 61 more yards passing than he does rushing, that's not sustainable.

I want him to stop sucking personally.

I am done with Pederson.  Period.  End of story.  I am done with Lurie.  I am done with Howie.  I was right about Howie all along and one game where we run a college offense won't change that.  Terrible drafting.  Hurts, Reagor and Taylor were all reaches.  Most talking heads and I am sure most people in here agreed with me, before last night.

Facts.  Howie and Doug are 1-0 in their quest to be back next year in full control.

I'm working so probably no need to read anything.

I agree I also think that is by design right?  Hurst wasn't asked to do much in the pocket it was one maybe two reads and run.  As he matures will he be able to buy time in the pocket with his legs for plays down the field or was last night who he is?  I didn't watch much of him in college so I have no clue but in college he was probably the best athlete on the field so can't really gain to much from that.

Elliott has been great from 30-49 this year. He’s 10-10. It’s from 50+ and 20-29. He’s 1-3 from 20-29 and 2-5 from 50+. Lately he’s also been botching extra points as well.

I feel kickers just randomly have these years where they just tail off and then the following year are fine or seem some improvement back to their normal unless you have like Justin tucker who’s the ultimate in consistency. Daniel Bailey was one of the best with Dallas. Was at 89.5 percent for 6 years. Then dropped to 75 back to back. Then back up to 93 and yesterday he’s missing 4 FGs. Lutz last two years 89 and 93 percent. He’s 80 this year. Zuerlein had three years of 86, 95 and 87 then fell all the way to 73.
