They asked Doug if he calls better plays for a backup

They must have let Alex Jones ask a question.

Hilarious.  Reagor set a career high with 55 yards.  Jefferson has 1,000 receiving yards, has 5 100 yard games, and has 8 games with more yards than Reagor's career high yesterday.

It's Eliot Shorr-Parks. What do you expect?

Honestly sucks for mcleod but you are likely going to get to see what Arnold and wallace can do at the safety position with mcleod hurt and slay. I’m guessing they move Mills back to corner with all the injuries.

Like many other games this season the offense was competent for moments but awful nonetheless.   Hurts was fun, really nice play to Alshon.  Sanders run was great.

Fumble in our own territory at the end of the game to give them a chance just gets swept under the carpet.  7 2nd half points, 4-13 on 3rd down, 167 passing yards, 5.6 yard per catch.  For some reason the Eagles just like to draft fumbling QBs.

You can nitpick details for any NFL game.  Bottom line is that the Eagles, with Jalen Hurts at QB, just knocked off the #1 seed in the NFC and were in control for the entire game.  They're not as bad as you claim.  Washers are trying to blame everyone and anyone outside of Carson, but your apologetics just took a massive blow yesterday.

Completely untradeable now.   So, that's about $4M that they can't get out of... they could have saved $2.2M in 2021 and the $1.8M in 2022 by moving him for nothing in return... but now, they will have the full hit in 2021 - $5.2M and 2022 - $1.8M dead.    They can't even drop him and just deal with the full $6.1M in 2021 (saving the $850k in bonuses he'll get next year) and drop him before the season... because it would require an injury settlement.  Although, since he's only 'losing' the $850k bonuses... which he might lose part of anyway since $750k is per week roster bonuses... he might settle that for about an extra $250k or so.   But, it won't really save them money... a trade would actually get rid of the $3.75M guaranteed salary.  Not happening now though.

Exactly. No one outside of Jeff, Howie. Doug and Wentz knows much of anything. All we and the media can do is speculate. I'm just throwing crap against the wall bc something is wrong between Wentz and Doug offense.

No doubt.   But, even without Wentz, Doug's offense is still pretty broken.   And so is Howie's roster.   Give me all new pieces to play with.

If the Eagles don't have Slay, Maddox, and McLeod (confirmed, obv) against a team that runs 4 WR as much as anyone in the NFL, they're gonna either have to play ball control or put up at least 30.

If he wants out and change if scenery.

The restructure would require he STAY through 2021.   And frankly, I don't see a way that they can move him for 2021.   Yes, trading him wouldn't cause the team to lose money... it would actually save a few hundred thousand on the cap - with a huge hit of dead money (same basic cost as if he's here with no change in contract), but to do that they'd need to find other ways to get back under the cap, and frankly... there aren't any real good options for that.  Restructuring his deal frees up $18M, and if they free up money for the future with other moves this offseason, he'd be moveable before the 2022 season.  But, I can't find a way to get under the cap without restructuring his deal.

I think the "bigger issues" that everyone feared, aren't as "big" as some think...especially with elevated QB play.  I've been saying it from DAY 1.  The QB is the most important position in this offense.  If you have poor QB play it absolutely, without question, affects the rest of the offense.

It affect the offensive line. (Zero sacks yesterday, btw).  It affects the running game because if you are behind the entire game, you will naturally pass more.  It affects the receivers for obvious reasons, etc etc etc.  And all of a sudden, the play calling and play design looks extremely better.  Do you think that's a coincidence?

And it was done against the best defense in the league.

How does a game where the starting QB has repeated throwaways and scrambling attempts because no one is open do you come away thinking "the play calling and play design looks extremely better"?

Hurts looked better because Doug finally did the things that the team did the things they should have been to help Wentz.   They should have been moving the pocket and running more.  Still, it's not like this team looked great.  They looked like a pedestrian offense aside from a few plays.  It wasn't a great offensive performance against a top defense.  It was OK performance that was bolstered by an 80 yard TD run and a QB that made yards scrambling the football.  It's not a fix.

Is that a need on this team?

Why would he ??

Well, that's my second question.

If Hurts stays at q.b. the rest of the year there's a good chance we win out, ruin our draft pick, save Howie's and Doug's job, and give some fans false hope for next year. Then next year Hurts will begin to fail and we'll have another year of this crap.

I can almost see it as if it already happened.

So what are you suggesting? That the Eagles lose?

It's crazy. People want Howie fired because his draft picks ALL suck; especially the Hurts pick that may actually SAVE our season. His WR picks can't catch the balls that Wentz throws, his lineman can't block long enough ...for Wentz to make a decision, even our D sucks...after the quick 3n-outs and turnovers. Doug also has to go because all his pass plays...that Wentz gets sacked or throws inaccurately, fail. No one wanted to blame Wentz. Instead the whole team was at fault. All these fans and journalists didn't seem to see that. I suppose it's some sort of materialist matrix they see him through, that because Carson was paid so much, he's ...unsinkable; and they just won't believe that his play adversely affected the team in such a critical way.

It's 100% denial.  Over the last 5 years, Wentz fanboys have become so enamored with the idea of a stud long term franchise QB, that it is extremely painful for them to now admit that Carson Wentz is NOT that guy.  Hence the nonstop excuses and apologetics.  I predict they will continue until the team ships Wentz out of town this offseason.

I am in agreement that the draft needs to be taken away from Howie. That said, Sanders, Goedert, Hurts, Reagor and Mailata were the best Birds on the game winning drive. That’s a bit of change in the right direction.

They don't need Alex Jones.  They have a whole battalion of Wentzcusing conspiracy theorists right here on this thread lol.

We could use one of those too.

Unfortunately I wouldn't be surprised if everyone returns except maybe the DC. I doubt Jeff wants to move on from Doug or Wentz or Howie out of fear he gets rid of the wrong guy.

My guess is a new addition to the FO to help Howie. The new addition will get some fancy title to make it look like a huge addition.

A new DC to replace Jim Schwartz.

Maybe a new assistant Head Coach too.

Good thing they cut Will Parks.

JJAW dressed and didn't play 1 offensive snap.  No need for Hightower and his speed.  Maybe he has the same naked photos of DP that Fulgham has.

The problem is that restructuring Wentz' deal means you're married to him for at least 1 more season.  There's no way that's happening now.  They'll have to find other ways to get under the cap.

I’m not even sure he’s back for the start of the season tbh. I feel like his last ACL happened early in the year so he was. This feels like he might miss a couple weeks to start the year

I personally don't have a dog in this fight, but from a pure numbers standpoint there's no way the Eagles are getting out from under Wentz's contract this off-season. The team is already projected to be $50-60 million over the cap and Wentz costs almost $60 million against the cap to trade or cut. It's not happening.
