If I deduct the yards given up this week from the Rams and Saints total, going into last week, Rams were giving up 283.1 yards per game, Saints 288.8 yards per game.

Rams #1 going into the week.

I didn't look it up - they posted it during the game - so if I"m wrong it's because they were wrong. But I haven't deleted the game from my DVR yet so I'll check again.

That's crazy. We've been a heavy-man team this year. I'm guessing this explains why the Saints struggled in the 1st half. They must have planned a bunch of man-beaters.

Too bad this post showed up but since it did. Where did I say that? You guys that are hurtin for Hurts can't admit that we played with more runs and rollouts yesterday? You can't admit that Hurts is a better runner than he is passer? You can't admit that Doug completely goes away from the run when Wentz is in? Get some new glasses if you can't.

Just confirming what I said. Doug and everybody has it out for Wentz.... The length people will go to make excuses for the guy is unbelievable.

Another thing my eyes are fine. I’m not that old yet. Tell you what I saw yesterday that stood out to me big time was the fact Carson Wentz is the most sacked QB in the NFL because the Oline is battered and injured we heard it all season but for some reason yesterday the Oline looked steady (against the number 1 defense btw) and gave up 0 SACKS🤯

Hmmmm. But I guess that’s Doug’s failing Wentz again.....

If this keeps up, he’ll be the best player on the team in 3 years.  Especially if Howie keeps drafting.

Ha!  Please cut Howie.

What do people think we can get when we trade Wentz?

I'm guessing a future conditional 3rd Round Pick (in 2022), which could turn into a 2nd based on escalators like playing time, games started, etc.

To get a 3rd rounder and get out from under Wentz' contract would be a home run.  We'd be free and clear of his money in 2022 and onwards, giving us 2 cheap years at the QB position w/Hurts rookie deal still in place and a chance to build a strong team around him.

That contract is gonna be next to impossible to move next season. We may be stuck with him.

"He would make some crazy throws on us, man,” Mills said. "Some crazy throws. It'd have (Jim) Schwartz cussing us out, guys on the defense mad, pissed off. But that's what you want. You want that competition on the other side of the ball.

Hurts may make the defense better as well.

So what do we do with him. We all know he cannot play RT.  I guess move Mailata to RT in case Lane is not healthy.

What should they do? Trade him and consider it another failed draft pick from this team assuming Mailata finishes out the season strong. What will they do? Give him every opportunity to win the starting LT job and keep Mailata on the bench.

If Hurts went 7-9 with 16 TDs- 14 Int in a rookies season would you say he had a bad rookie season?

Wentz had 48 TD and 14 INT between 2018/2019 with what many consider the worst collection of WR in the league and in 2018 a lousy, pathetic group of RB as well.

Wentz is a good QB-

All time.great team in 2017?  That was a really good team but not close to an all time great team.  That is hyperbole.   Of course it was a glorious season.

Typically bad for a rookie is fine.  Jalen Hurts is going to have a better rookie season than Carson statistically when its over, but I doubt anyone here will give him credit for it.

Wentz WAS a good QB.  Right now he's the worst QB in the league and has been trending downwards for 3 years.  I see zero evidence he'll get back to being great.  That was a one year fluke just like it was when Nick Foles did it.

With a rookie, mobile QB in his 1st NFL start?  Yes, that actually is a decent game plan.  McNabb, Wilson and just about every other mobile QB who has had success in the NFL starts out with designed runs.  Welcome to the NFL since 1999.

McNabb didnt have a dozen designed runs in any start he ever made with Andy Reid, or even close to it.  Look it up.

Dillard had one game there.  The Eagles traded up for him in the first round.  Agholor stunk, stank, and stinks and the Eagles kept giving him chances for 5 years ......

Why would Wentz agree to a restructure?

Great question.  Maybe a new coach can convince him that he can be rebuilt here as the franchise moving forward.

Who cares about Andre Dillard?  If he can't adjust to being a backup swing tackle then trade him and move on.

Worrying about Andre Dillard is a perfect example of Sunk Cost Fallacy.

Were Jason peters and Matt pryor out there yesterday? The same two for weeks on the all 22 looked like bums. It helps that herbig before he got benched for sua and peters was playing better than both. The fact Matt pryor is even on this team is ridiculous. He’s been by far the worst olineman on the team. While Toth sucks i rather see him than pryor

Yep.  An "all time great team” doesn’t look like ish for most of the following season, with the same players.

Sure it does.  The 1991 Washington Redskins were an all-time great team.  They went 14-2 and crushed everyone in the playoffs on the way to a SB title.  The next year they were 9-7 and barely made the playoffs, losing in the 2nd round.  Basically the same team just 1 year older.  Soon after the wheels fell off completely and they had to rebuild.

Pretty similar to what's happened to the Eagles.

Hurts is gonna make Jalen Mills better???  Not unless Hurts is wearing a disguise and his true identity is actually:

I disagree.  It's actually a pretty good contract for the team trading for him.  It's 4 yrs / $98M with only the 1st year guaranteed.  They can get out of it with zero dead money after 2021, otherwise if Wentz becomes decent again, they have a starting QB for a below market rate and no more guaranteed money.

There is a difference between all-time great and catching lightning in a bottle.

The more I read today the more I realize there are actually "phans" that wanted to see Hurts fail so they could continue ish on Howie's drafting. Or they wanted to see Hurts succeed ONLY so they could point the finger at Wentz and say he sucks. From an internal perspective - and I'm not inside so I can't prove it, I just know it's true - only positive things occur with Hurts success - but not necessarily bad things if he doesn't.

If you look at the big picture, Hurts success or failure is in no way a reflection on Wentz play - its just not. Their exact circumstances are unique.

I wanted us to lose but not embarrassingly so and I wanted Hurts to have a good game because he's just a rookie and it's not his fault he's thrown into this mess. I was surprised by Saints game plan or lack thereof one

Athletic testing matters.

I tend to believe since the eagle love Stoutland that he probably has a lot to say in the offensive linemen that they are going to draft. Since he’s going to be the ones working with them and they trust him to get the most out of their offensive line I’m guessing he has big time input into whom they draft at that position.

That too. I just think it's silly to equate late round offensive linemen success to anyone but Stoutland first and foremost.

It's been a fun conversation.  Obviously, we shall see.  I think Wentz did great the past two seasons with the joke of an offense around him.  I hope Hurts is great.  Heck, I once wrote a song about the greatness of Bobby Hoying after the Cincinnati game.

Well if Howie has a say he would def be behind Dillard starting instead of Mailata. That's why that guy needs to be gone asap.

He should have been given more carries throughout the season

yeah ... I_P we usually end up on the same corner even when we take different paths to get there .. but I totally disagree with this.

Howie's drafting hasn't sucked?   OK.   Convince me.
