This is my recollection of it as well.  I do wonder if they have managed to mend some of the rift but I think there's no question that Howie wanted Banner to go.

It was talked about by I know caplan, and bo wulf talked about it in one of his podcast when he first came back about what he had heard within side of the organization. I dont know if he was working there then he said he heard the stories inside the novacare. It was considered "mutual” Because that’s how they played it out to the media. As both took the high road

But it wasn’t actually mutual. Howie wanted more power and the Eagles kind of forced Joe banner out of his position and strip some of his power away to the point of he knew he could go somewhere else and get a better job which gave him the power he wanted. Hence taking the job with Cleveland. The Eagles were trying to get him to leave. So we can say he left on his own accord but in all technicalities whatever you wanna call it basically they forced his hand and wanted to give the power to howie.

Agreed but Scandrick was and always will be a Cowboy.  Parks WANTED to be an Eagle.  He's a Philly guy through and through.  For him to be doggin on them like this I just think there has to be a deeper story.

I think it broke his heart that when he returned to his hometown team, he wasn't used like he thought and was bypassed for what he thought were inferior players.   Hard to argue that either way as we barely saw him out there.

In wondering why Doug Pederson was so hesitant to compliment Hurts after Sunday's win, The Athletic's Mike Sando asked a few coaches around the league what they thought of Hurts' performance against the Saints.

This response from an offensive coach isn't ideal:

"From what I saw, it will be very easy to stop that kid," an offensive coach said of Hurts. "The Saints just weren't ready for some of the stuff they did and he had some good runs. He had a couple wild throws, too. The next defense they play will have a plan for it and it’ll be much harder for him."

I don't buy that for one minute. There's probably only one coaching staff in the entire league that spent Monday studying Hurts' tape, and that's Arizona (possibly Dallas or Washington). In the middle of the season, professional coaching staffs aren't breaking down film of teams/players that they won't see until next year. Now, do various scouting departments do that? Of course. Is it possible he spoke to some low level Quality Control assistant somewhere? Definitely, but it doesn't leave that impression with how the article was written. Obviously it'd never happen, but I'd love to know who exactly were these supposed sources for this journalist's story.

I thought about that too.  Shame.  I thought he was going to be a good role player here.

I've been on this board a long time. For whatever reason some people just hate the starting q.b. no matter who it is. Saw it with McNabb, Kolb, Vick, Nick (the first time) Wentz, and if Hurts becomes the permanent starter you'll see it with him.

Don’t forget the Sam Bradford era. you know how many people on this board were trying to build up his last four games of the season as a reason he could be a franchise QB or that we should just keep him cause he was better than nothing?

Hey, we had that weird group with over the top love for Tim Tebow that one offseason.

Yup. If it's so easy to stop him then why isn't this unnamed offensive coach a named defensive coach.

I don't think anything doug did with hurts was over complicated or genius and Hurts made good decisions with what he was asked to do.

If pederson comes out with the exact game plan it could get ugly. NFL DCs aren't stupid they get paid too.

Hurts and the offense need to evolve week to week if doug calls all the same stuff and does the exact same things it tells me doug isn't thinking about the future and trying to develop his younger guys only that he is trying to generate an unsustainable offense for a couple wins to improve his resume. Which is a D move.

Matt Pryor/Nate Herbig together is going to be a disaster. They can't pull off that side. Neither guy can move. Pryor's sets will make it easy to stunt on obvious passing downs (can't stunt on neutral downs as much given Jalen's running ability).

The bigger problem? There's no one left to backup. It's Juriga at C, Opeta at G and Toth at OT. That's all bad.

Herbig is fine. I get what you are saying they can’t pull. But he has been solid when they given him the chance to play. Now he has ups and downs but he’s been better than sua opeta, pryor and peters who all played guard at some time this year.

The bigger issue is that pryor sucks. People can say Driscoll to pryor is not much of a downgrade but it really is. Driscoll when he’s been in there for the most part has been competent. Hes had his issues at times but for the most part he was getting better and better when he played. Pryor has not been good at all. Any point this season he has been terrible. I tell people to go watch the last three drives of the Seahawks game. He was beat routinely on those drives. They had a play for a touchdown to Hightower in that game late on one of those drives and he got destroyed at the start of the snap.

This very well might be right because none of us really know.

But the implication here is that Dennis Allen, DC of a top 3 defense in the league and a possible HC candidate, is a complete moron who had no idea Jalen Hurts was going to run.

I will usually fall on the optimistic side of whatever debate we have... because ultimately, I want the team to do well, and for wins and fun games.    This season has beaten me down though... in the midst of this Covid nonsense... the Eagles were going to be an escape for a few hours and an enjoyable few hours.  Instead, each game is like a trip to the dentist office.  You know there will be some pain involved, you just can't be sure when and where it will happen.

But, now... I want Doug out, Howie out and the rest of them.  I think Wentz can be rebuilt, but not by these guys.  I'm not sold on Hurts as a starting QB in this league, but absolutely think he can be a very good backup, because of his legs.  But, if he's to be developed into a starter, he needs to stop using his legs as a primary weapon and start throwing the ball... to all parts of the field.  And Doug, if he's a QB whisperer, should know that.  Using Hurts' legs by design to routinely pick up 3rd down conversions was about winning to preserve his job, not working to develop his QB.  Those opportunities are now lost and can never be regained.  Those chances for Hurts to sit in the pocket, read the defense and make the proper throw, are gone.  And that's why I was upset with that win on Sunday.  Not because they won (which of course makes the clean sweep less likely) but because they won in a manner that didn't have the long view in mind at all either.   Alshon over Fulgham.  Hightower inactive.  Running the QB rather than developing him.   Just a 'me-first' attitude by the coach, rather than a 'what's best for the team' approach, honestly.  If they had won with Hurts throwing from the pocket 30 times and running the ball behind the OL, great.  If they had won with the young WRs being showcased and targeted through out the game, great.  But, they didn't.  Alshon got a TD while falling over.  Fulgham couldn't sniff the field much.  Reagor was a relative non-factor outside of maybe 3 or 4 opportunities and still we see Ward back for punts, whereas Reagor back there could make a mistake or two, and have it not really matter in the grand scheme of things for this team and maybe become a better option for the future.  Or they could have worked Watkins there while on the PS, so that when he came up, he'd get a shot.  But, instead we got to watch Ward's antics, and then are told that he makes good decisions back there?   Please.  Don't insult my intelligence.  If he's making the best decisions of anyone on the field in your eyes, then you are not doing your job as ST coach to get someone else out there, someone that might actually have a clue, or have a wiggle to make a play... ya know, like Reagor did against the Packers.  I wonder if maybe Ward was in the locker room pooping on that and that's why he wasn't out there for that punt too.

Terrible coaching practices.  Terrible roster utilization.  Terrible roster construction.  And now I sound like a pessimist.

WTH are you talking about?  I was calling Wentz, "Ginger Spazzbot" last year before the 4 game stretch at the end of the season.  I was also one of the first in here to say we should bench him.   You have no clue what you are talking about, in regards to me.

you are saying hurts cant be the guy so what am i supposed to think?

Don’t feel bad i was pessimistic back in April and was attacked for it. I dont think this roster was constructed well from the start. I’ve gone on and on and on about their plan for 2020 at WR and the last 3 years addressing the safety position as Malcolm got older and mcleod’s contract being what it was.

Add on ive routinely brought this up. There’s the September-November eagles and then the doug December eagles. Whether it’s foles, wentz and now hurts the eagles always find a way in December to adjust and adapt to their personnel. It’s like clock work since the SB. It’s a problem. There’s other issues wentz was a problem no one expected this year. Heh are old and expensive. They pissed away a lot of draft picks like JJAW or jones

You mean the one where I said back in February that whole run was fools gold and the Eagles organizationally believe the fact that they were closer to a Super Bowl than they really were and then they made the off-season moves the way that they did? Yeah I know because I said that. Crazy i know yet got labeled as a wentz washer when i stated the eagles fooled themselves into believing they were closer to competing to a SB than they were.

Out of all the bad contract talks, Malik Jackson is an underrated terrible contract. I have no idea WTF Howie was even thinking with restructuring this one. A cut or trade in 2021 is $12,644,000 in dead money and only $967,000 in savings. Hell, even if he plays out the contract and walks in 2022, we are going to have $9M in dead cap. This might be worse than Alshons.
