It's trendy to bash Wentz

Don't you know it's what all the cool kids are doing!? They call themselves the Hurts Jerkers.

No the team is not going to look "idiotic” because Wentz will be the same mediocre player elsewhere that he is here.  He doesn’t have what it takes between the ears to be a stud QB.

He has not been mediocre.  MVP front runner in 2017, second in TD passes.

Eagles single season leader in TD's, passing yards and completion percentage.

You still never answered me, you said all QB's throw for 4,000 yards in this era, when did this era start ??

Just for fun and to break up the idea that DJack back next year is a good idea no matter the cost (it isn't by the way)

If you had to pick a scenario

A. Howie, DP, Wentz gone or

B. Howie, DP, Wentz back but Hurts traded for a 1st?

Howie and DP are the ones that decided to bring Hurts in; they're not trading him when Doug has no plan or idea of how to get Wentz right.

C.  Doug gone, Joe Brady or Pete Carmichael Jr as head coach, Brandon Streeter or Tony Elliott, etc as OC to fix Wentz, and Hurts traded for a 1st (or even a 2nd)

There's no reason to abandon the run in a one possession game, especially early in the game.

Giants - 1 possession game going into the 4th quarter and even until 3 minutes left in the game.  (23 rushes to 40 passes)
Cleveland - 1 possession game until 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter - 10-19 at that point. (25 rushes @4.2 ypc to 40 passes  - 3 rushes were Wentz, so likely 22 to 43)
Seattle - 1 possession game at halftime, 1 possession game heading into 4th quarter.  (14 rushes @ 5ypc to 52 passes)

Of those 4, only the Packers game was any kind of blowout where the abandoning the run makes sense.

You can’t just run into a brick wall.  Defenses had no respect for our passing game.  They took away the run and forced us to throw, knowing the QB wasn’t consistent enough to make them pay.

Why would you run flanker screen to Greg Ward for 12 weeks, then run it with Reagor in week 13 ??

Now Doug has better playing and putting players in better position. Reagor, Hurts, Oline, Running game. Stuff like that

Based on Carson’s performance this year, backup QB was actually a massive need in the 2nd round.

Could have signed a veteran back up.  Instead they drafted the player that was not the highest rated on the draft board.  That is what front offices who don't know what they are doing do.

Yeah, that's why their yards per carry average has been so high this year.   Sorry, your takes don't match up with the facts.

Why wouldn't he put the players in better position with Carson.  Most of this board thinks Ward is not an NFL receiver, so why is the coach making him the focal point of plays ??

But you agree he had better play calling and put the right players in position with Hurts in. So which is it? Did he sabotage Wentz or grow brains over night with Hurts and figure it out?

As I stated before I don’t think he sabotaged playcalling or Wentz on purpose. I think he saw his QB was struggling, and he was clueless how to fix it. His idea of helping Wentz was to continue passing until he snapped out of it. He’s said multiple times that "he just needs to get into a rhythm” that if we passed enough times and he started completing the passes that he’d get better. That strategy simply doesn’t work. People one here, analysts, fans have been calling all season for more QB roll outs to reduce OL pressure, more balanced Run/Pass play calling, more pre snap motion, more creative routes to open up receivers. He didn’t want to do any of that because he believe that would complicate the offense and if he just kept it simple and kept passing, eventually Wentz would snap out of it.

With hurts, he recognized that as a rookie at this point there’s no way he can run the same offense he’s run before. He wasn’t going to make Hurts sit and make reads and progressions because at this point in his career he isn’t capable. So he adjusted the plays to a more college style offense. Which happens to involve more pre-snap motion, more runs, more roll outs, all the things we’ve been calling for him to do with Wentz all year.

Why is he still the primary punt returner?    So many questions like that.

There ya go. Betrayed Wentz. I guess he did such a good job he landed himself on the hot seat.... Tell me people really believe this.

Eagles before last week had been first in the NFL in yards per carry. Now second.

Eagles before last week had been 29th or 30th in carries, now 26th, because Doug ran the ball last week.

HOW IS IT RUNNING INTO A BRICK WALL WHEN THE EAGLES HAVE BEEN TOP 1 OR 2 IN YARDS PER CARRY MOST OF THE SEASON.

I think the animosity and distrust is more from the drafting of a QB in the second round and not as much the benching due to poor play. I’ve been of the opinion you don’t draft a QB or any player in the second round with the idea they are going to be a backup or an insurance policy in case of injury. You do it assuming as a rookie or at some point in time they are going to be a starter. I think it was BS reasoning they wanted a cheap backup for a couple of years then trade him for more value/or what you spent and use him gadget plays. That was a concoction the eagles came up with when the ultimate reality is they might have thought wentz’s last four games of 2019 were fools gold and didn’t want to admit they drafted him to be a starter at some point. I just don’t think they thought it would come to that point this year. I think they thought they could make the transition after 2021.

No your extreme coddling of Carson doesn’t match up with the facts.  Please show play by play that Doug is calling passes when he should be calling runs, based upon the look the defense is showing on that particular play.  Without that all you have is speculation, conveniently slanted to blame Doug and absolve Wentz.  What a surprise.

Only 11 QBs threw for 4000+yds in 2019. Wentz was 9th. 10th was Mahomes and 11th was Rodgers

So he’s clueless with Wentz but a genius with Hurts? No disrespect  it I have a hard time believing that. I mean Hurts himself said they were running the same offense.

He is not a genius with Hurts.  Multiple break downs exposed the Saints flaw in their game plan, soft edge with DE's crashing inside, and no spy.

They shut it down in the second half, with 15 minutes to adjust.  Lets see what happens with the Cardinals having a week to game plan, and two guys who can spy, one from LB and one from Safety.

If you watch the clip, I don't know who the guy wearing the Steelers Xmas sweater is, but when Orlovsky mentioned Pittsburgh as a possible destination, dude pumped his fist.  A ton of people outside of Philly have not given up on him, and someone is going to take the chance, and the Eagles are going to look extremely idiotic on the other side.

Not to go all cult of Foles, but what would be the reaction if he goes somewhere else and wins a Super Bowl ??

- Caplan and Mosher on the tape review podcast yesterday emphasized the significant difference in offense scheme this week. They called it word for word "the most college style offense Doug has ever run”

- Ben Solak gave huge credit to the coaching this week for the adjustments they made to tailor the offense to Hurts strengths

- Brian Westbrook posted this tweet

Actually the second half were they didn’t make any adjustments show that he’s not a genius with Jalen hurts. It’s why the offense  dropped by 200 yards, hurts was less effective as a runner and they only scored seven points.

So once the Saints made an adjustment to How they were playing Jalen hurts and the offense, the Eagles could not come up with an additional adjustment To sustain consistent offense.

I point to this similarity, the Philadelphia Eagles with Carson Wentz in his first three games as a rookie looked great on offense. And then the league caught up to them and for two months they kept trying to run the same offense and they kept having issues because they didn’t adjust to the personnel they had and adjust to the adjustments the rest of the league made. Then once they got lane back and started making adjustments in December they looked better.

So.... The Eagles are trading for Frank Reich in the offseason?  Perhaps offer a swap of Hurt for Reich?

Oh, the media mean that Wentz is setting out his Trade me to the Colts list to the Eagles FO.

Gotcha
