If you watch the clip, I don't know who the guy wearing the Steelers Xmas sweater is, but when Orlovsky mentioned Pittsburgh as a possible destination, dude pumped his fist.  A ton of people outside of Philly have not given up on him, and someone is going to take the chance, and the Eagles are going to look extremely idiotic on the other side.

Not to go all cult of Foles, but what would be the reaction if he goes somewhere else and wins a Super Bowl ??

While we wallow looking for another franchise quarterback for the next 10 years.

It has been 50 years since a qb was drafted that high when your qb is 27 years old. Rodgers is 37. He is one of the greatest of all time too. Not sure how you could compare that.

50 years. Lol. Wentz has sucked but the draft decision was dumb.

Why was it dumb when Wentz regressed into the worst QB in the NFL?  Seems like a great example of foresight.

Do your own homework Washer.

I already know the answer.  I want you to give me the year, in your mind, when this era started that all QB's throw for 4000 yards.

2005, 2010, 2015 ??? Give me a year.

Notice how @Arsenal79 a day later will still not answer that question.  He knows, that is why he wont answer.

I only notice because you guys quote him and the others. They're on ignore for me

Hopefully VA gets that plug-in that allows us not to see quotes of people on the ignore list

Yes clearly the same situation 37-year-old quarterback nearing the end of his career is clearly the same as a 27-year-old quarterback in the midst of his prime. Great comparison.

True, not the same situation because one QB rose to the challenge, while the other folded under the pressure.  If Wentz couldn't handle the Eagles taking a backup QB in the 2nd round then he's not mentally tough enough to be a stud QB in the NFL, period.

Eagles before last week had been first in the NFL in yards per carry. Now second.

Eagles before last week had been 29th or 30th in carries, now 26th, because Doug ran the ball last week.

HOW IS IT RUNNING INTO A BRICK WALL WHEN THE EAGLES HAVE BEEN TOP 1 OR 2 IN YARDS PER CARRY MOST OF THE SEASON.

So your saying they predicted the greatest regression in NFL history? There is data on that too.

I think it is a mixture of things. Wentz sucks now. They drafted hurts as insurance. Now people are saving their butts. People are overblowing it as well

I just hired someone new at our company. He is extremely green at the position but at told him we sold train him. This is a technical job

Is it smart as manager to hire a guy to train behind him for his same job. That is a terrible business decision on so many levels. You hurt the confidence of the employee. You stress people out over uncertainly. Our company is wasting money now.

I would get canned as a Project Manager. You have to think off all the outcomes and put people in positions to succeed.

They should not have done it.  This team is old, has a lack of talent all over the field, and should have drafted a player that could have played immediately and contributed.  You are banking your entire argument on one game from a player that NFL teams will adjust to with more film.  Arizona is not going to be unprepared.  It was already exposed in the second half last week when Dennis Allen adjusted and Doug did not.

So he’s clueless with Wentz but a genius with Hurts? No disrespect  it I have a hard time believing that. I mean Hurts himself said they were running the same offense.

Replace " a genius" with "mediocre" and you've finally solved the puzzle.

The fact that he use that logic was the same argument I had with Ace a couple weeks back. about how Howie Roseman would try to spin/use that type of logic to justify keeping his job that he found a QB and could see this was coming. Like if we have board members making that excuse then you damn well know howie is going to try to spin it that way

You guys talking to the trolls like at some point they're gonna get it. Bwahahahahaha

Oh, the media mean that Wentz is setting out his Trade me to the Colts list to the Eagles FO.

Again, just because he called the game differently for Hurts doesn't mean he sabotaged Wentz.  He clearly doesn't know how to use him.  That's not sabotage.  That's stupid.  The 2 don't have to be mutually exclusive.

Doug:  Wentz slow now bc knee injuries.  Me not roll him out of pocket bc him can't move.  Him pocket passer.  Him hang in there for 5 seconds and receiver get open.

Also Doug:  Hurts fast.  Me roll him out constantly and give him 1 read options.  Me also run the ball much more.

Remember though he was fine with Wentz just last season coming off injury. So I guess Doug was knew how to use Wentz in 2017-2018-2019 but 2020 He lost his mind and decided to betray him.

It’s not even that to be his argument is then he’s just not good enough/mentally tough  cause that ruined him. But IF (and it’s a major what if scenario) he gets traded somewhere else and resurrections career somewhere else and where they didn’t do that then that means his argument is complete crap.  It would actually prove the Eagles were dumb enough to consider putting themselves in that type of position.

No, you shouldn't reach for positions in the draft to fill short term holes.  That's what got the Eagles into trouble in the first place.  They clearly had Hurts rated highly, so they took him.  We don't know yet if he'll be good or not, but they can't be faulted for taking BPA, especially at such an important position where the starter was inconsistent and injury prone.

Go look at our run pass ratio in those years.

I guarantee it was not 25:75.  I guarantee we were not leading the league in yards per carry while being 29th in carries.

Not if you’ve been complaining about the first 3 months of the season in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Then saying the eagles always somehow figure it out with now with 3 different QBs

Yeah... they knew.  Shame they didn't know when they signed him to that big contract.   I guess the foresight thing comes and goes.

No foresight with Desean and Alshon continually breaking down... Peters breaking down... Brooks being at higher risk for an Achilles since he had one previously before signing him to the biggest OG contract in the NFL.

Great foresight, or maybe he just they don't actually know what they are doing anymore.

It has been reported for weeks Jeremy Chinn was the highest rated player on their board, and Howie over ruled them.

Still want you to tell me when this 4000 yard era began, why is it so hard to give me a year.  Can I just go with 2010 ??

His coach and the talent around him sucks and he hasn't said a word publicly. Is he allowed to not trust the Fing morons that put him in that place...........yup

All true and equally probable to anything I posed. I feel really bad for the young man and he has clearly not been supported properly. Just the combo of his self confidence and Pederson and Taylor if they are conflict averse with him is enough to set him back or not challenge him to address some negative tendencies. I remember him talking about how much he liked tests that Flip would give him and Reich might have been comfortable as a teacher rather than a cheerleader.  He has regressed and it is not all his fault. The problem for the Birds is that situations like this are really hard to put back together and it looks like it is mostly on him to try and figure out how to do it.

I think the animosity and distrust is more from the drafting of a QB in the second round and not as much the benching due to poor play. I’ve been of the opinion you don’t draft a QB or any player in the second round with the idea they are going to be a backup or an insurance policy in case of injury. You do it assuming as a rookie or at some point in time they are going to be a starter. I think it was BS reasoning they wanted a cheap backup for a couple of years then trade him for more value/or what you spent and use him gadget plays. That was a concoction the eagles came up with when the ultimate reality is they might have thought wentz’s last four games of 2019 were fools gold and didn’t want to admit they drafted him to be a starter at some point. I just don’t think they thought it would come to that point this year. I think they thought they could make the transition after 2021.

farve kept rodgers on the bench and he was rated a 1st rounder early 2nd , wentz should have done his job and hurts would never have seen the field.

And he is one of the best QB's in the league on the move.  And the 1 or 2 times a game he did do it, huge chunk plays.

All teams do this.  JFC Sean McVay does it with Jared Goff constantly.

I used this exact example earlier.  Him and Baker Mayfield come to mind, and neither of them are mobile.  Strange that they both have coaches that cater to strengths every single Sunday.  Now let's take a look at their unstoppable running game that they dial up more than 12x on Sundays.

It's certainly possible they don't know what they're doing now.  They've obviously made a lot of personnel mistakes in the draft and w/the cap.

But re: the Hurts pick, that was basically one year after giving Carson the massive extension.  And right after Carson got himself knocked out of a playoff game with this typical reckless and foolish play.  Making it the 3rd season in a row he couldn't finish healthy.

One year is plenty of time for them to reconsider things.  Then when a prospect who reminded them of Russell Wilson was there in the 2nd, they decided to take him as a cheap backup, and also to serve as a hedge against Carson's injury history.

Agree they didn't think Carson would regress this much, but they probably knew in the back of their minds they couldn't count on him for one reason or another.
