I’m willing to bet the Jets draft Lawrence and don’t trade him. Can talk about upper management, douglas just took over last year. They knew they were going to be bad this year anyway. So they basically like the dolphins were taking it on the chin knowing they were going to suck to be in a position to get Lawrence. And have a ton of draft picks and cap space to use at their disposal next year

also would be playing in the biggest market in the United States. I don’t think any agent is gonna let that opportunity pass it bye to not play in that market. People miss construe the Eli Manning situation part of it was the chargers organization and the other part of it was he wanted to play in a bigger market then San Diego

jets have nearly 100 million in cap space and these picks and a 3rd round comp for Anderson. The Jets actually if they don’t screw this up have a chance to turn it around with Lawrence

NFL Draft 2021

Round 1

Round 1 From Seahawks in Jamal Adams trade

Round 2

Round 3

Round 3 From Seahawks in Jamal Adams trade

Round 4

Round 5

Round 5 From Giants in Leonard Williams trade

Round 6

Yeah, but how often over the years did Cleveland have draft capital like that and did they improve in that 20 year window? They finally are improving now.   It's not about how many draft picks and cap money these teams have, it's do they have the right people at the top of the organization and in scouting to make the organization successful. I won't be surprised if the Jets still stink 5+ years from now.

A loss to Notre Dame on Saturday may go a long way in his decision.  He may want to run it back with a full, non covid impacted season and win a title.

Ya can’t see him going back for another year. Deshaun watson had too and would’ve went much higher if he were allowed to come out after his sophomore year. I’m betting watson who played at Clemson is telling him leave if you are a lock to go top 3. I’m guessing Dabo probably is being honest with him as well as he telling him he’s going to be the no. 1 pick don’t come back and risk injury when that’s in front of you. Especially when Clemson has like QB prospects behind him that were tops in the country as well.

Eagles had to trade #8 overall, that years third and fourth, 2017 1st, and 2018 2nd just for the #2 pick and Wentz. Dallas would have to give up a fortune for a prospect like Lawrence, not just a couple of picks.

Those couple of picks would probably have to be first rounders. But, it is doable.  The Jets would also get the Cowboys top 10 pick in that scenario.

That may be true. However douglas just took over last year and he knew they were rebuilding and were going to suck. Guessing during the draft process they’re going to talk to him about what their plan is with him and likely get a coach like a Lincoln Riley or a big name to come there since they will have Lawrence. I’m doubting Lawrence turns down the Jets being in the biggest market in America. Add they have the most cap and draft picks.

He could but again Eli Manning did it not just cause of the chargers organization but also cause of the market of San Diego. He wanted to be in a bigger market like NY. That’s a major thing people forget in that situation.  Just pointing out it’s not as if most top three picks you’re going to the ideal situation. The two teams behind them are the jags and the Bengals who are in the same position as the Jets. bengals are notoriously cheap and the jags are the jags. He could go to the lions who waste good players careers. I still highly doubt the Jets would even trade that pick

would also say the first three picks by the Jets are all contributing this year. Mims since about midway through has improving each week and starting. Davis and the LT both start. They are not the issue for the Jets.

Waddle or Chase in 2021!

And with the 8th pick in the 2021 NFL draft, The Philadelphia Eagles select, Elijah Moore, WR, Ole Miss

If Lawrence is as a good as people think, and he actually looks really good, no trade is worth it for the Jets.

Spending $30M a year to be excited about watching the scout team, lol

Eagles need to go O line, Corner, Safety or D End.  All more important than another WR.

Ok say Kelce doesn’t retire. Where is the OLineman playing? I guess they’re giving up on Dillard or Mailata being the future LT. In today’s NFL it’s all about offense and the best WR on the team is Greg Ward... Yes, Reagor has upside but in no way has he looked like there is any hope of him being a #1 WR.

Not saying the Eagles shouldn’t go defense round 1 but I don’t agree that all of those other positions are a bigger need than WR

I also put it this way the Dolphins were trying to tank last year and be bad. This year they’re now good. The dolphins have not exactly been the epitome of a good organization and making good moves since basically Dan Marino days. They’ve had less success since 2000 than the Jets. I’m guessing players would love to go there now.

Like Adam gase is not gonna be there next year. I am guaranteeing they make a big splash hire at head coach knowing that they’re getting Trevor Lawrence. Any good head coach like Miami did last year could be all the difference in turning a bad franchise into one that’s actually competitive

This proves its been a psychological thing. Hopefully Doug can undo the damage he did.

covid.

If you had read my first post that was the point.

Covid has kept stadiums empty.   Advertising rates are going down which means TV money to the league will go down if it continues.

Playing in empty stadiums with recorded crowd noise just isn't the same.

To me it just makes the games on TV BLECH.

To be fair the social justice crap hasn't helped them either.

I'm sure if the Eagles do try to trade him, they will try to trade him to an AFC team like the Colts.  The Jets would be the perfect trade spot. He wouldn't come back to haunt us there.

We'd be reminded of it every 4th preseason game

They probably won't. I agree. But, don't be surprised if Lawrence tries to get out of going to the Jets.

It's definitely interesting. He could be set for life with the Jets from contracts but it's very possible his career wont really be what it could with another team

I don't think he can which is why I think Doug needs to go too

Brandon Brooks gets hurt....a ton.  Lane Johnson is over 30.  Our rotation of guys has been pretty bad.  I shouldn't have to tell anyone about how bad the o line has been.

Ok but do you want to draft a top 10 player to sit if Johnson is fine? Yes the O-Line sucks but unless there’s a stud they aren’t going O-Line round 1. You can find quality inside players on day 2. They need guys who are going to step in and contribute now. Safety makes more sense than O-Line

With this o-line and defense though? Howie put us so far back you need a delorean to catch up now. Drafting a WR is like building a nice home on top of an abandoned coal mine that has termite infested 2x4's as the floorboards. Reading today that Jeff hasn't even considered firing Howie has my faith in this team at the lowest it's ever been which is sad. Jeff is totally out of touch which is really, really bad.

One thing about Agholor (Dropsgalore) He is better at getting open vs anyone we have on the roster right now.

He also has the worst hands/concentration of any WR we have on the roster right now.

Such a shame we cant seem to get wr's who can get open & catch the ball? Most times we cant even get just one of those traits.

Remembering that one time Buddy Ryan drafted Fred Barnett and Calvin Williams in the same draft, and they came in and started right away, and both had decent careers. Williams actually became a pretty good all around WR.

Took Mike Bellamy before Arkansas Fred and Calvin IIRC.

To bad we have a front office unable to do this.

What am I missing?  Who’s Chase?

Ja'marr Chase - I would rather chase than any of the DE's. I don't think there is a safety prospect in the top 10.  Surtain and Farley are the 2 top CBs.  I think they are my top choice.  Beyond those 2, I think WR or OT are the two other best positions available and maybe Parsons.

Yes. Priority should be helping out the QB, whoever the QB is.

Doubtful. Doug and Howie both have dirty hands, breaking our Franchise QB.

So we draft a QB in round two again?

I think if one of the top OT's is available you move on from Dillard.

I disagree, they are actually pretty solid at finding O-linemen in the middle rounds when they want to. Vaitai, Seumalo, Driscoll. Problem is making the smart picks instead of a project. They aren't unable so much as they are unwilling.
