Everyone understood (or should have understood) that Jefferson was going to be the volume-producer between the two players.  He had 111 catches and 1,540 yards for a national champion college team.  The fact that he was the 5th WR off the board means there were a lot of teams that doubted he could perform as an outside WR.

The Eagles drafted Reagor to stretch the field and make chunk plays in the offense -- they already had Ertz and Goedert as volume targets.  Like it or not, he was drafted to be Desean Jackson after Jackson is gone.

If Doug can't get him the ball in open space or over the top it's not going to be a good pick, but again, that's just as much on coaching and scheme as it is the player.  Get the ball in his hands more -- if he fumbles and drops, then that's on him.  Right now he's being underused.

Not just a volume producer, and who cares where he lines up.  He is 5th in the NFL in yards per catch at 16.6.

And I'm not sure how anyone can knock Reagor for his stats when he was injured and not on the field for 5 games early on in his rookie season.

He's been up and down.  He should be better at things he can control like put more energy into running his routes and going full steam each time instead of letting up here and there.

I admit you were right.  I was wrong so far.  I thought Reagor would be more NFL ready.  Hopefully a proper off-season does him good.

Justin Jefferson was the only guy coming out that the statement was made " already runs NFL quality routes "

You know why that is ?? Because coming out of college he was already an NFL ready route runner.  Speed does so much, running routes in the NFL is key.

Drafting someone purely based on speed in the 1st isnt a great idea. Could it work out? Sure but we took DeSean in the 2nd years ago. Tyreke Hill was a later round pick, not sure what round.  Just off the top of my head there was John Ross and Corey Coleman drafted early mostly based on their speed.  Ruggs was the same this year but he's TBD.  Ross and Coleman were busts.

I wasnt a fan of Jefferson but preferred him over Reagor.

Stuff like that happens when you're still processing everything in your head.  It's one thing to know the playbook, but it's another to be able to apply it in real time.

Missing 5 games early on and then coming back to a dysfunctional offense isn't going to help anyone do that.  Much less a WR whose primary skill set relies on being able to let it rip out there.

Reagor's shown enough flashes.  Get him settled in with a stable situation and I think he'll be fine.  All this complaining about not having Jefferson or Metcalf is stupid - nobody would look good in our crap situation.  With the exception of the Jets, every other team in the league does a better job with their rookies.

If Reagor was sold to you as more than what he is, then you are gullible.   Elite speed and top notch receivers produce in College, regardless of how crappy their QB's are.  You guys bought the bill of Goods.  I didn't.  Reach!

Well, you should know that Jefferson was my guy the whole time, but I was willing to give the Eagles the benefit of the doubt, as I often do, because I'm not a full-time scout.  But, the writing is on the wall that they've screwed up royally in all facets.

I agree.  I am a big Reagor fan.  I just thought he would have shown a little more so far.  Maybe I should have tempered my expectation with lack of training camp and then his injury.  Hopefully we see some more positives out of him the last few games.

One where he doesn't look like Hill 🤷‍♂️

No one, anywhere, compared this man to tyreek Hill.  No one else in the league is close to tyreek hill. Why in the world would you expect that?

You don't spend a first round pick on a WR that is a great punt returner.  You spend a first round pick on a good-great starter.

Of course not.  However... when you have quite possibly the worst PR in the league (the number of punts he let hit the ground to be downed inside the 10 this year has been astounding), and when he does catch it you can pretty much assume a 5 or so yard return, if you are lucky... while simultaneously have a young WR with wiggle (or so you thought when you drafted him) and are struggling to find a way to incorporate him into the offense consistently, you could at least guarantee him an opportunity to touch the ball on punt returns to maximize his utility.  But, they've doubled down on their stupid by not even using him where he might be an upgrade over Ward, while not finding ways to get him the ball on offense.

If he's your guy in Round 1, then you should imagine that they should be game planning to get him about 10 touches a game.  That's why (supposedly) he was rated higher than Jefferson, because he could do more.   Give him 2 end arounds a game, 2 flanker screens, put him back for punts and you don't even need to think hard and that's about 10 touches a game.   But, they have refused to get creative with him and leaned on Greg freaking Ward for these things.  Its criminally incompetent by the coaches.

Good to see not everyone has lost their mind.

Ruggs has been fine as a deep threat. Jerry Jeudy looks fine but not spectacular. CeeDee Lamb came back to earth as soon as he got trash QB play. All picked over Jefferson.

This narrative that everyone in the NFL except for Howie Roseman expected Justin Jefferson to be a superstar is laughable.

I don't know why we haven't poached someone from Pittsburgh or Seattle's staff.  It's crazy how they crank out solid receivers like an assembly line.  Maybe it's a scouting thing, maybe it's a coaching thing, whatever it is we desperately need some of it.

He is exactly what I said he would be. Below avg hands, horrible route runner who has speed. Hes a project. With the right coaching staff he can become a avg player, but dont see him being elite ever. Said it before the draft, after we drafted him and nothing right now has changed my mind on my stance.

Of course all the assistants feels the same, they know they will be fired too if Dougs gone.

The more I hear this over the top praise for everything and everyone in this organization makes me think they will just run it all back next year with no real change.

Ok.  Duce can go too, then.

And with the wrong coaching staff... he can become an underachiever who isn't used by his team properly.

Duce has survived 2 head coach firings already, though

So he never did give up play calling. I knew those reporters were confused when they said Doug gave up play calling. That's not what he said but a bunch of reporters were running with the headline that Doug gave it up

I would not be shocked at all if Duce is the next head coach

Yup, except for maybe the scape goat

Maybe it's like the Adam Gase press conference:

"I'm not calling plays; the OC is"

"But we were looking at him -- he's not doing anything"

"Oh, you mean those plays"

Doug said he gave it up in certain situations. The reporters just went with what Doug said. And when they asked Carson about it he said it's always Doug calling the plays. So Doug was probably lying, unless we have some weird dynamic of someone else calling plays to Doug who calls plays to Carson who then calls the play to the team. Could explain why they are always so slow in getting the ball snapped before the clock expires.
