Duce has survived 2 head coach firings already, though

Probably because he tells Howie and Lurie how awesome they are their jobs.

I agree.  I am a big Reagor fan.  I just thought he would have shown a little more so far.  Maybe I should have tempered my expectation with lack of training camp and then his injury.  Hopefully we see some more positives out of him the last few games.

He was injured for several games.  Also, the coaches really failed early on getting him meaningful touches.

Maybe it's like the Adam Gase press conference:

"I'm not calling plays; the OC is"

"But we were looking at him -- he's not doing anything"

"Oh, you mean those plays"

Did I miss something... has he gotten any meaningful touches recently?

That's the problem. Doug brings nothing to the table except everyone else's ideas. It works when you've got a guy like Frank Reich in the building and/or a QB doing it all themselves.

Playing Slay on Sunday would be malpractice.

Can't question his toughness this year. He's been getting banged up on a bad team

I thought this was his 2nd concussion this year? Don't they usually last longer the more times you get one?

The irony is that Justin Jefferson's speed was faster than people thought it would be... and he could only play in the slot.   Reagor ran slower than was anticipated and he it was believed, due to his speed could be used in a variety of ways, one of them being as a punt returner.

Jefferson goes to Minny, and blows up the league.

Reagor comes here and can't even be used as the primary punt returner (a job he did in college) for some reason.  And it took until Week 12 or 13 to give him an end around (aka, "here's the ball, now just use your athleticism, kid") and  until the following week to see him get a flanker screen ("catch ball, and make people miss").

Something is very wrong with both the scouting and the coaching here.   Scouting:  Big time whiff on Jefferson, and seemingly missing the boat on Reagor as well.   Coaching: Can't find a way to make a player with some plus athleticism attributes a more integral part of the offense/ST while continuing to showcase Greg JAG Ward.

If Lurie can't see this, then shame on him and he should be forced to watch his own terrible movies non-stop until he cries "Uncle" and fires everyone.

Justin Jefferson was the 2nd best deep threat the year before in college. Only behind Jerry Juedy. There were stats on this. This last year he moved into the slot for Chase and the other guy. Still dominated.

People are prisoners of the moment. It was pretty obvious he was going to be good. For two years jj was compared to a richmans Keenan Allen.

This team just always thinks they can outsmart everyone. That is why we are the most disfunctional franchise in the league.

I won't forgive that pick. Then to turn around and take Hurts. Lol. Come on man.

He shouldn't have played last week.

It's infuriating.

I don't fault Slay. It's clear he's been playing injured.  This is more on Howie for not being able to fix this secondary for years.  There's not much quality depth.

Or any other depth

I'm not faulting Slay.  I'm faulting the brain trust.

I know you're not. I was just replying about the situation.

Weird they didn't have a corresponding move, but knowing Howie we don't need two roster spots.

Also the comments on that tweet are something else. People saying Maddox was playing really well and its a big blow to the team. lol

Make sure we can also restructure it to hamstring us with future signings and cap.

Truth.

Year one he was very good at safety and he's got the traits to do well at slot corner.

Year two he struggled on the outside when he was asked to fill in.

Year three he's been a freaking disaster on the outside.

We can for sure take Surtain off our draft board also.

Reagor was never advertised as a speedster, Hightower and Watkins are faster, he was advertised as a playmaker, which he simply hasn't had many chances to do. He's strongest attribute is his body control and ability to change speeds, which he has flashed.

Getting deep is primarily on the OL for a simple reason, those post routes and double moves take time to develop, the difference between 4.2 and 4.4 speed is 1 yard after 20 yards, it's still gonna take 2.5 seconds or so to get to 20 yards for the fastest WR (if he's not pressed on the line, because he's not starting from a runner's stance, and he's in full uniform, not shorts like his combine time). So if the line can't give the QB 3 seconds or more to see if the receiver is gaining separation, whether the FS can get over in time, etc., you're not going to complete a lot of those plays. If if the QB can't step up into a clean pocket, it's tough to get enough on a long throw to keep it from quacking).

Even with crossing routes, they take time to develop, if you can't pass block, you're limited in the routes you can successfully run. Which we've seen all season.

I think the biggest problem has been the disconnect by the scouting/personnel arm of the organization with the coaches.  Single biggest problem.  And that blame rests on Lurie and Howie.  A successful draft pick is a coin with 2 sides...the scouting/drafting and the coaching/implementation in the system.  When there is a CONSTANT tug of war between those 2 factions, your picks will fail.

AR was flawed here, but he's a HOF HC.  What was the beginning of the end for him?  When Howie became GM.  They had a power struggle and the draft picks and player development went south.

Chip and Howie had a power struggle and high draft picks never got on the field.  Lurie chose Chip in this one...maybe because he knew he previously chose Howie over AR in the last one?

And now it's Howie and Doug.  They hired Doug for 2 reasons: 1. They couldn't recruit anyone else at the time with the Howie/Lurie dirty laundry.  2. They wanted a peaceful pushover Howie could control and coexist with.  Then they win a SB, Doug's head gets a little bigger...and boom...power struggle #3.

Howie can't co-exist with head coaches.  They trade valuable picks for players that coaches either don't play or don't even dress (Tate, Avery).  There are high draft picks that don't even get on the field...and as much as I may hate the talent of these picks...there is more to it.  There are absolutely players who have been victims of a turf war between coach and GM.  No doubt about it.  It happened with Marcus Smith and I suspect history will show it's happening with JJAW.

From 2010-2019, I never liked the "type" of player the Eagles went for...low ceiling try-hard singles and doubles.  But these picks are  busting because of...in the best of times...a disconnect and...in the worst times...a true war....between the coaching staff and Howie.

We've now gone through 3 coaching staffs and it's happened with every one of them.  Lurie allows it.  So for all the talk about how there are only 32 HC jobs in the world and people will jump at the opportunity (and many will), I bet everyone in the inner circles knows that this job involves being the fall guy and pushover to Howie Roseman and that the owner won't do anything about it.
