I'd bet he doesn't get further than "we all knew an overhaul was coming." OR "injuries derailed our season."   No odd metrics needed to find reasons.

Lurie loves a weird stat to use as a justification.  I am curious to see if the Eagles will finally admit there is an overhaul needed, or continue with their we're an off season away stuff.  With such an old roster and bad cap position, surely they allow the fans see they actually get it, rather than fluff it up

Did I miss something... has he gotten any meaningful touches recently?

Well they have tried more tunnel screens, a couple of runs and one crossing route where he could use his speed to get YAC.

Reagor was never advertised as a speedster,

Bull.  Leading up to the Combine the question was whether or not he and Ruggs would challenge John Ross' fastest 40 time.

Most touches he's gotten in a game is 4.  Week 2, Week 10 and Week 11.  Last week, he got 2 rec. 1 carry.  Week before when he was 'featured'... 1 rec. 1 carry, 1 Punt return.

It's disgusting.

Sure.  And who better to lead it than the guy that put them into this deep hole...

I think the biggest problem has been the disconnect by the scouting/personnel arm of the organization with the coaches.  Single biggest problem.  And that blame rests on Lurie and Howie.  A successful draft pick is a coin with 2 sides...the scouting/drafting and the coaching/implementation in the system.  When there is a CONSTANT tug of war between those 2 factions, your picks will fail.

AR was flawed here, but he's a HOF HC.  What was the beginning of the end for him?  When Howie became GM.  They had a power struggle and the draft picks and player development went south.

Chip and Howie had a power struggle and high draft picks never got on the field.  Lurie chose Chip in this one...maybe because he knew he previously chose Howie over AR in the last one?

And now it's Howie and Doug.  They hired Doug for 2 reasons: 1. They couldn't recruit anyone else at the time with the Howie/Lurie dirty laundry.  2. They wanted a peaceful pushover Howie could control and coexist with.  Then they win a SB, Doug's head gets a little bigger...and boom...power struggle #3.

Howie can't co-exist with head coaches.  They trade valuable picks for players that coaches either don't play or don't even dress (Tate, Avery).  There are high draft picks that don't even get on the field...and as much as I may hate the talent of these picks...there is more to it.  There are absolutely players who have been victims of a turf war between coach and GM.  No doubt about it.  It happened with Marcus Smith and I suspect history will show it's happening with JJAW.

From 2010-2019, I never liked the "type" of player the Eagles went for...low ceiling try-hard singles and doubles.  But these picks are  busting because of...in the best of times...a disconnect and...in the worst times...a true war....between the coaching staff and Howie.

We've now gone through 3 coaching staffs and it's happened with every one of them.  Lurie allows it.  So for all the talk about how there are only 32 HC jobs in the world and people will jump at the opportunity (and many will), I bet everyone in the inner circles knows that this job involves being the fall guy and pushover to Howie Roseman and that the owner won't do anything about it.

I don't think the disconnect is power struggle with Doug.  I think the disconnect is really that Howie has always made himself appear one step removed from decisions making decisions that he can point at others and blame them.  The reality is that Howie's business is keeping Howie employed even with things going bad around him.  Now I don't think Howie is insincere when it comes to making decisions.  I think he is making the decisions that he thinks will benefit the team.  Why does he guarantee Alshon's deal? Well it gives them more money now but I would guarantee he got Doug's blessing on the deal.  Why doesn't he draft DK Metcalf? Well drafting Sidney Jones went wrong.  I would also bet he made sure he got what he wanted in the medical evaluations.  He also probably thought JJAW was the safer pick and one where the offensive staff thought that they could work with him.  I don't think it's a matter of a disconnect as much as Howie making corrections based on his last mistake.

Blaming Howie for Reid leaving, however, is some crazy revisionist history.  I mean the reality is that Reid never adequately replaced Jim Johnson. I don't think that was on Howie at all.  Beyond that I mean Danny Watkins was a big miss but I don't think that was on Howie. The 2012 draft was pretty good.  The 2011 one was terrible except Kelce.  The 2010 was OK.

We can for sure take Surtain off our draft board also.

Makes no sense to when you have maddox. No need for 3 great corners

Please... Jim Johnson, not Jimmy Johnson.  One is a legend here, the other is a tool.

It sucks that Maddox sucks because I really wanted him to be one of the Eagle greats after reading this a few years ago

It’s all fun and games until you’ve watched Jalen Mills be awful for 5 years, and still have to worry about the team bringing him back for more

This may not be posted in the right thread but I’ve been an eagles fan for twenty years and there have been good and bad times supporting this team with the super bowl Win being an obvious high point. But last Sunday made me love this organisation even more than I already did. Unfortunately my amazing grandmother died last Saturday night my time after a short illness.  Covid-19 made it worse because I wasn’t able to see her at the end. Anyway, the next day the eagles were playing the saints and honestly I couldn’t tell you what I did Sunday morning and afternoon and didn’t watch much of the early window games, but I decided to watch the eagles game at 9:25pm my time and I’m glad I did. For three hours I was able to forget the reality of what had happened and escape and watch the eagles win. I didn’t even watch SNF or MNF because of the funeral but the point I’m trying to make is the eagles and American football helped me a lot last weekend by providing a distraction for life. And for that I will be forever grateful because this last week were awful but at least I had a few hours of routine.

Sorry, man. That's really sad to hear. Condolences to you.  These times are really tough. Stay safe.

Holy crap Ben Simmons actually pulled up for a three in that sixers game.

I had no idea Aqib Talib was doing broadcasting now

I don't know why we haven't poached someone from Pittsburgh or Seattle's staff.  It's crazy how they crank out solid receivers like an assembly line.  Maybe it's a scouting thing, maybe it's a coaching thing, whatever it is we desperately need some of it.

I think it's more of their scouting dept.

Btw, the Steelers lead the NFL in dropped passes 😄

Thats why I mentioned Shurmur, but I agree... he needs someone who is competent.  I trust Shurmur.  Hes also rebuilt some QBs with bad mechanics and bad stats.  Best years for a bunch of QBs that would be considered 'meh' came under Shurmur.  Bradford twice, Case Keenum, Cousins, and even Daniel Jones as a rookie.  But, I'm open to possibilities.  But Im not open to giving up on Carson yet.  Just because this crew looks like the Keystone Kops doesn't mean all coaches brought in would have to.

Shurmur is a decent idea.

Nah, fit Jeudy too and to some degree, Lamb (less complete route tree).
