A consultant for the running game, a consultant for the passing game, a consultant for 1st downs, a consultant for 3rd and long, and a consultant for goal line!

Genius!

:excited:

1st down and goal line consultants should at least be hired on the cheap considering we won’t need their advice often.

My fear with Howie staying is him kicking the can down the road. If he uses 2021 to reset, then keeping him is fine. We can fire him in 2021/2022 for another GM who is ready for a rebuild.
If he stays AND he creates cap space by restructuring veterans like Wentz, then we could be in serious trouble.

There are some guys that makes sense to restructure (Hargrave, Seumalo), as they will be here long-term. However, that list is short.

I think a Jake Elliott short field goal consultant might be needed though.

So it seems like Howie is staying? His last F U to us is gonna be to take Waddle over Chase. This organization is so doomed. I'd rather be the Jets right now than the Eagles. The Eagles right now are one of the 5 worst landscapes in all the NFL going forward. It's going to be bad.

If Howie stays it will be totally demoralizing for me as a fan and I think a long break from the team is way overdue. Haven't enjoyed watching them since 2017 every week is a Fing miserable experience full of frustration.

Don’t know why it wasn’t this way to begin with

The help is here to be the fall guy.

Howie needs to succeed or fail on his own.  It’s absurd that they keep finding babysitters for him.

Howie is no longer the problem.  Lurie is responsible for this FO structure.

They aren't finding babysitters for him... they are hiring scapegoats for him, one after another after another.  It's gross.    Hey Jeff... your boy sucks.  And if Ed Snyder had the cojones to fire his own son, you should be able to fire Howie.  You gutless coward.

Schwartz loses any credibility as to pertains to LB when he elevates a healthy Gerry to the starting MLB spot.

Our defense got much better once Singleton took over for Gerry.

Yo how about that beast RB at Ohio State. Damn yo. I’ll take him.

Not up to us, it’s up to Lurie. I just worry he likes Howie more than the rest of us.  Personally, I think it is time for Howie to go but we really need to be prepared for him to stay.  Bottom line is the Eagles are one extremely injury and Covid impacted season from three straight playoff appearances and Lurie may well consider that.  I expect tweaks this year to the coaching staff but real changes dependent on how the 2021 season goes.

What available (last summer) veteran backup would you take over Hurts?

I'd point out that he outplayed NO's backup QB, and NO has more talent on offense.

Were you impressed by Dalton? Winston? Newton?

I’d take any of those three while keeping our second round pick to use on someone else.

I’ll just add, it’s kind of weird to see Eagles fans say "Lol, look what the Browns did with the picks from the Wentz trade” and are now saying "yea, let’s get that guy in here as GM.”

That was Sashi.  The only residual pick left by the time Dorsey took over as Browns GM in 2018 was the Eagles 2nd round pick, which he flipped to BUF to bring Tyrod Taylor in.

I’m not big on Tyrod, but it was a sound decision to get an experienced backup QB for Mayfield

This. We could have had a cheap FA backup while also securing a potentially great safety for years.

100%. For the pick to work out, Hurts has to be starting caliber (top 25 QB). Backup quality is top 60 QB.

Waddle is a top 10 overall draft prospect on pretty much every board.  Saying an organization would be "so doomed” to make him the selection is a bit much.

If he didn’t perform like a top 10 pick it would be another indication the team has very poor coaching — no matter who the pick is.

Hmmm what’s more likely. The guy that had good LBs throughout his coaching career decided to suddenly ignore the position or the team that hasn’t valued good LBs in 15 years decided that they still don’t value LBs.

It's been recently that they havent really valued LB.  Bradham was a solid, good LB.  Kendricks was up and down depending on scheme.  Hicks was very good when healthy.

Right now they have very little.  Singleton and Edwards are OK.  Bradley is still young and Taylor is a project who has barely played.  Taking Davion Taylor in the 3rd they were trying to address the position but problem is he needs alot of time to develop.  3rd round you should be getting someone who can play fairly soon but they choose to go with a project.

@In2football

Cardinals 25

Eagles 30

Davion Taylor was the reach of the draft.  Brought back bad memories of Pumphrey and Hollins, who were both drafted a full round too early.

Hopefully Taylor turns out better than those results

I always expect when drafting guys in the first 3-4 rounds they should be some kind of contributors.  This team has just had too many questionable picks in the draft.  I just hope Lurie is aware of all this.

That sounds like the most greend thing I’ve heard in a while.  How much snow did you get btw?   My buddy texted this morning and said it was 10 degrees at Coal Township.  35 here.  I’ve been southernized.

20 inches exactly.

Moose bologna came out to 15lbs. My boy and I split it.

I’ve said for awhile, this team is two years beyond Howie’s firing before they compete for anything of significance.

Looks like we lost 5 days of posts.

Which is good because some of you said a lot of stupid things during that time.

Merry Christmas.

Is that a rationale for drafting a QB in the 2nd?

I’m sure there were RBs available in the 2nd who would be better backups than Scott, but it doesn’t mean the 2nd round is appropriate value for it.

Yep.  Hopefully we didn’t lose any posts that you painted Derek Barnett in a positive light.
