I really hate this.  They are choosing to water down the product on the field so they, the most lucrative sports league on the planet, can make even more revenue.  This will lead to expanded playoffs so they'll be like the NBA and NHL where half the teams make the post season.  In the near future the NFL will look more like Arena Football played outside on a bigger field.

Water it down enough and the intensity with which fans follow the (soon to be) devalued regular season will also fade.

Well here we are.  This is it.  4-9-1 gets you here but we are still alive.   They flexed the Washington Game so we can't score board watch (Though we will, lol)   We have to take care of business.  And hope for a holiday miracle from Carolina.   Jalen 1st Division game starting, in his home state of Texas.  In a Stadium he has won Big Games before in College.   We must finish strong in the NFC East.

The NFL doesn't know when to stop.  Greed is going to ruin the league...at least for anyone who experienced pre-Goodell NFL.

The last two weeks have been easier to watch but this is still a bad team. Arizona has been bad recently and we were lucky for two RZ turnovers otherwise last week would be a blow out. On the other hand, division games are wonky. It’s also really hard to sweep your division opponents. Anything goes in here. Dallas has close to the same shot as the Eagles to win the division so I don’t think they have quite given up on the season. I see this becoming a high scoring game with Doug moving off Sanders in the run game in the second half to keep up. I feel dirty but my prediction is

Cockroaches - 31

Eagles - 24

@In2football

The Eagles can improve their draft stock today.

@In2football

Eagles 33, Cowboys 30

I see Dallas going up early and Hurts storming back in the second half. STs doesn't completely implode this time.

This is such a reactionary take. I’m sure when they expanded from 14 to 16 games people were saying the same thing. They expanded the playoff field this year and I don’t find it "watered down”. There’s an appetite for more games, the NFL as a business would be foolish not to capitalize on it

Yep.

Adding another game, without adding an additional bye week disgusts me.

1978.

Point is... there's a breaking point, and they are getting close to it.  Proof is sitting there in front of them with the lower ratings on Thursday nights.   But they are seeing higher ratings on weird days right now because folks are locked in at home, and see it as a false positive.

Odd that they wouldn't add another bye week.  Purely from a revenue standpoint, the extra week would add additional revenue, no?

This I agree with. Add a second bye, and all Thursday games should have teams coming off a bye. Seems so simple

Given his leadership, keeping Graham on the roster for 2021 is an easy choice for me. That doesn't require an extension. I'd gladly pay him Curry money (2-4M a year) to stick around, but that's it.

He's already under contract for 2021... at a huge number ($17.9M).

So basically we need to win out and we need WFT to lose today and the Giants to lose out.   And we win the division at 6-9-1.  :Eagle_smiley:

We can agree to disagree.  The NFL went from 14 games to 16 games in 1978.  Back in the late 60s and early/mid 70s they used to play SIX preseason games with half of them being in cities that didn't have an NFL team so it was like a touring exhibition.  The owners made loads of money from this while the players got basically ish.  That changed with a then historic TV agreement in 1977.  Considering the context then going from 14 to 16 wasn't that big of a deal back then since it was going from 14 + 6 to 16 +4.

Today, considering what we know about concussions and CTE, and what we're still learning about it, and that it seems tougher for star players (or even solid reliable players who aren't household names) to make it through a FULL 16 game season that adding another game to the regular season and the likelihood of expanded playoffs is going to be even more wear and tear on the players.  Yeah, it's turned into a business and it's all about money now.  That being said, I don't have to like it and it seems some others here agree.  Clearly we have different opinions on this and that's fine.

Only need the Giants to lose one, which is likely today vs BAL

Giants just need to lose once. WFT needs to lose out with Eagles winning out

I will add to those that think the NFL would be silly not to take advantage of their popularity.... McDonalds is pretty good at business too, likely even better than the NFL, so much so that they aren't even in the food business now as much as they are the real estate business, which is much safer.   Anyway, there's a reason that they make the Shamrock shake and McRib limited time offers.   Scarcity actually helps to drive the demand.

The NFL had that with one game a week on Sundays... they've pushed out to Mondays (but the hey-day of Monday Night Football is way down, especially as a result of the growth of Sunday Night Football, which came much later).  Now they are pushing to Thursdays.

The key element for the NFL not to lose sight of is what every good comedian knows... "leave them wanting more".

And if they want to continue with the Thursday night game (ICK) they should only have those games on Week 1 to open the regular season and on weeks following a bye so players can get more than 3 days rest to play another game.  They say they care about their players' safety and then make them play on just 3 days rest.  Frauds.  Greedy frauds.

Been saying that for years.  And for all the talk from the NFLPA about wanting to protect their base... they aren't smart enough to push for that.  But they are also pushing for every dollar they can and wanted to get that extra percent (which will really just go to the very top of the pile, not the masses, unless they push for a higher minimum salary) rather than getting the bye which would be more important for health purposes.

So... how ridiculous is the Pro Bowl in reality?   Ravens have the most in the league... as a team that's sitting on the outside looking in with regard to the playoffs, in a year that they added an extra team.

Giants are going to lose today, so it's really just Washington/Carolina that's a toss up.

Jalen Hurts vs. Washington on Sunday Night Football next week is a real possibility.

Yeah or WFT loses today and the Eagles win out :P

I really hate the probowl. A meaningless game where a star player has the chance of a freak injury with no time to recover.
