The reality over the 2 games is the Eagles look like a team with cap issues and lower than normal draft picks.  They have also signed players in FA where they perhaps didn't need to, and the depth is either a lot or nothing.  The FO only really got it last year but still traded a 4th for Avery.

The big contracts and make up contracts are finally catching up with the team.  The question is, does the FO have it in them to get out of the mess, without a clear out?

Chargers pass rush looks pretty good

Paying Carson Wentz $32M/yr is a franchise crippling mistake.  We're stuck with this guy for AT LEAST 3 more years due to that toxic contract.

The crippling mistake is keeping Doug as Coach.  it was plain as could be today: one coach who knows he has a QB with certain limitations called the perfect game to accentuate what he does well.  The other coach, who has a QB with, oddly, the same limitations, called a game that didn't accentuate what he does well.  Except the one play where they did roll him left and he fired a dime to Ertz on the sideline - rest of the game, he made him do what he doesn't do well and made him look like a chump.  The victory today is to McVay.  The loss to Doug, on offense anyway.  Truth be told, on D, they weren't disciplined and out defensive line was taken to task by their offensive line.

Looks like that innovative way of not having an official OC is working out great for Doug

Oh I wouldn't disagree there. Give us a good pick for sure.

So if we trade Wentz in the offseason, we actually gain cap space, no dead money?

Get that F***** the F*** outta here then.

Wentz still isn’t the problem.

He's a part of it, there's just no way around that. There really isn't one problem. It's multiple, and Wentz is certainly a part.

Imo this team bounce back with a win next week. 8-8 could win the east.

In the immortal words of Ricky Watters...

For who?  For what???

Surely though that's just hurting themselves? Another pick around #20 in the draft. Another year of frustration next year? Is it enough just to keep making the play offs through the back door?

Just stop

Your eye sight is. He’s a problem just not the only one.

Last year, Wentz wasn’t great, but he was way down the list of problems.  His shortcomings were overstated because he was a qb on a mega contract.  Then he turned it on down the stretch.

This year, he’s the biggest problem on the team.  Not many qbs in the nfl have looked worse through 2 weeks.

Maybe Reich would be interested in trading for Wentz. Can't think of any other team who would even consider taking him off our hands at 32.5m a year.

No other team will no. That contract is too big and there are too many other good QBs around. I mean right now which team would trade their starter for Wentz? Ignore contracts just player for player?

Chicago perhaps? Jacksonville maybe?

He'd be less of a problem if his coach wasn't as dumb as rocks - when his coach wasn't as dumb as rocks, Wentz was an MVP candidate - imagine coaching making a difference. - Only a few players can overcome idiotic coaching, Wentz isn't one of them, he needs the coach to be his ally, not his enemy, and Doug is the damn devil right now.

Not happening.

Grab some tissues.

That would be prob the worst situation for us. Another year we "make the playoffs" but out of pure luck/bad div. I think most would rather see us go down in flames then another season like that and no real changes. Well we know Jim will be gone no matter what with his contract expired. But thats only half the problem. Doug has to give up being the OC. he can be the HC but he cant be both. Either give it up or a move might have to be done in the HC position.

Crazy thing is, if they do move on from Doug they have to do it early and get right in on the Eric Bieniemy train. Funny we could get coaches back to back from KC, lol. As for a DC, Id still love to see a guy like Rex Ryan here. I dont even know if he would want to be a DC but he would be a perfect "Philly" guy and has a great DC portfolio.

My best guess is that Carson Wentz slacked off this offseason.  Perhaps understandable since he had his first child, but its the best explanation for his atrocious play so far.  He's been disappointing in the past, but this season is lower than we could ever imagine.

Too busy playing house to work on his game.

Based on what? He ran the ball an awful lot tonight. At times the run game kept us going in fact.

Why not try to play to his strengths rather than trying to think of a stupid trade?  Seems a lot simpler with a much better chance for succes

Wentz has been the biggest problem overall through 2 games. Game 1 I think was close between him and the OL. Today he was far and away the biggest issue.

They scored 19 points. Even with the defense, you won't beat many teams in today's NFL scoring 19. Especially not playoff caliber teams like the Rams.

There's always a sucker GM out there, we just need to find him and fast. Wentz must go.

Yep. See if Chicago cuts Foles. My dream scenario is end up with 1 or 2 and trade back for picks. Build the OL/DL. Hopefully, Howie sees this year is a write off and dumps anyone else he can before the deadline though I'm not hopeful.
