As bad as this season was, this was probably the best thing that could have happened long term for them. This has been an average team on a decline the previous two seasons which has needed near miraculous luck to get into the playoffs. And they talked themselves into thinking everything is fine by winning a playoff game in 2018 and losing Wentz in the playoff game last season giving them a "Well if Wentz didn't get cheap-shotted we probably win that game" excuse. That content, comfortable attitude carried into this year and they had their worst season in a very long time depending on what you thought of 2012.

There has been something systemically wrong with this team since the 2018 season. Whether it's bad drafts catching up to them or Pederson being exposed as an inferior coach. Whatever it is, they're awake now and they can't be comfortable heading into 2021. Lurie typically rips the band-aid off pretty quick. He didn't give Reid another chance after 2012 and he bailed on Chip when most coaches probably would have given him another year. I expect him to do the same with Doug this offseason.

What would have been better would have been to be in a better division and had the illusion of playoffs eliminated earlier so that they could have worked in more youth.  The false hope of playoffs stunted the youth growth in a lost year.

Sounds like the backup needed to be put in doesn't it?

Yeah.

His Ahole was so puckered up he couldn't move.

If this game doesn't get Dougie fired, than nothing will.

So did they.

If everyone here wants Chase, we might actually benefit from staying right where we are. If we move up any higher, I have a feeling Howie will go another position.

For one, because JJAW and Reagor were his picks and taking another WR in the first two rounds would essentially means he'd have to admit he made bad picks, which he'd never be able to do with his ego.

And he may be tempted to take Zach Wilson from BYU.

So right now at #5 we are kinda right in that sweep spot for Chase.

Moving up to 3 would help if a team wanted to move up for a QB. I think there’s also a chance Miami drafts Chase at 3.

- Hurts comes back to Earth

- Offensive line had their worst game in weeks

- Defense looked like Swiss Cheese

- Doug made some bad play calls.  Not having DJax out there on 3rd and 14 when DJax had just toasted Dallas' defense for 80+ yards a series or two before is inexcusable.  Even if DJax doesn't get the ball there you put him out there so that he draws the safety.  Not kicking the FG on 4th and long with 14+ minutes left also inexcusable.

Plus a myriad of dumb penalties, etc....ugly game all around.

I thought they started out great because of the play calling.  Hurts dropped back (maybe in the late 1st, early 2nd), ate a sandwich for about 8 seconds in the pocket, then threw a pass to some guy named Fulgham who was wide open with nobody around him.  Luckily he fell down to avoid YAC.  At that point, I texted a friend of mine stating that the OL looked great for how decimated it was.  Then it went downhill faster than anything I've ever seen.  Pryor was obviously horrific.  I'm curious to see the all 22 with Mailata.  He gave up one of the worst sacks I've ever seen, but I don't even know if it was his fault.  I'm sure it was, but holy ish that was bad.

It's like there was a switch, and once it was turned on, these guys all forgot how to play.

Maybe Lurie knows something about what is happening in his organization that would make him come to that conclusion?

Tough to say from the outside what is happening behind closed doors.

It’s what is happening on the outside of the doors that is the problem.

Good thing for all these guys that 0 fans are allowed in the stadium for the final game.

So now that we see that both QBs are good at sucking can we entertain the possibility that it's not the QBs, it's the coaching?

Fourth would be a great spot to pick. Two QBs and Sewell should go top three. That leaves us as a trade partner to get the third QB or Sewell if he falls.

They stopped running the ball, and the DL just tee'd off.

I'm in my fantasy Super Bowl as well.  I have Diggs and Henry and my opponent has Tannehil.  Am I playing you?

Nope.  Bad conditions for me to get a win.

lack of talent in the back 7 on defense , lack of healthy o-lineman and WR talent

Everyone should surround the stadium with "Fire Everyone” signs

Main takeaways from today:

Hurts looked way, way over his head when he had to drop back in the pocket and pass his way out of a hole.  Turnovers are fine for a rookie.  He looked bad when the running gimmick was removed and he had to pass.  Arm talent, reads, accuracy...he looked the part of a running qb who is not a pro style qb.

Reagor is putting the finishing touches on a pretty miserable rookie year.  Desean, Hightower, and probably even Watkins have shown to be more disruptive deep threats this year.  Reagor looks like a gadget player, not a WR.

I've been seeing people in here saying that it's a huge drop off from Trevor and the other QBs. Are we certain Jets will even go QB now that they're out of the Trevor pick?

My thoughts on QB situation is you put both on the market and take the best offer and roll with the other.

2 things: the D just had no chance with the guys they had to play.  Can't field an NFL Europe back 7 and win.  Doug is the absolute worst play caller in the NFL. Has no idea how to help his team through play calling.

This team needs a top five talent. I don't trust them to get a good player if they move outside of the top 10. If they had a good drafting record like a Pittsburgh or Baltimore, sure, collect picks and move down. But this team rarely hits on second through fourth rounders to justify trading out of a top five spot just to get a few extra of those.

Best way to protect a bad D....

This team needs TONS of talent.

And most importantly, they need to get HOWIE out of this.   He's been the constant since 2010.  Maybe there's a reason that our drafts pretty much suck all the time...  And if every other variable has been changed, but the results remain the same, only one variable is left and likely is the culprit.

The entire secondary needs to be overhauled. You can't rely on UDFAs and mediocre free agent signings like NRC. We have no depth at safety at all and desperately need a CB2.

This team needs the 1st rounder to actually contribute in the first game and be a stud
