As much as people in this blog like to hate on DJax, the guy is/was a generational talent.  He's still faster (at 34 years old) than just about anyone on the field and his route running has become elite-level as he's gotten older....so now he combines getting open with exceptional route running....5 yards of separation by the time he gets the ball...then no one can catch him afterwards with that much of a head start.

Although he probably shouldn't of showboated, he was literally trotting and slowing down on purpose today before he scored....that sort of combination of elite route running + elite speed is generational.  His achilles heel has unfortunately been injuries over the last several years of his career...a true shame.  Who knows what he could have accomplished had he averaged 14-16 games a year throughout his career.

No one hates on Desean Jackson.   The hate is on the decision to bring him back to fix the WR position... with a 32 year old... the money they put into him, and the draft pick given up to do it.   But, the injury thing was obvious.  He's been breaking down for years.  Most players do at that age, far more than at younger ages.

Desean Jackson has been healthy for an entire football game with this team about 4 or 5 times in 2 seasons.  4 games for $20M.   That's $5M per game.  Are we supposed to be happy about that?

I don’t care about 2 ints or 2 fumbles for Hurts.  Inevitable for rookies and correctable.

I care that he was throwing short of the sticks on 4th and multiple 3rds, that any throw over 10 yards needed to be lofted in order to get there, that he looked to tuck and run in every critical situation, and that the offense was an immovable stationary object when he had to drop back and just pass his way out of the deficit.

You didn’t like the 5 yard pass to Ertz on 4th and 15?

O I don't disagree that the whole team is bad. Starting from the Front office (howie) down to the damn towel boy. It all sucks. Including Wentz. At least Hurts gave us a slight chance of hope.

Still need to purge the whole front office coaching staff and a lot of the players.

Still need to answer that question though.

OK.  So you are a moron.  I gave you a chance to have an intelligent conversation.  I see I overestimated you.  Goodbye.

Moron for agreeing with you that the whole team is bad? Man that is a first!

So Wentz taste good then? I will just assume so as you ignore my question 🙂

There were a few cringe worthy plays like that tonight.

I love to hate on djax because his maturity and durability are both a joke.

If he had stayed healthy, he’d be a better or similar version to Ty Hill, although he’s never had the benefit of that qb play.  But even in his prime, Desean would break down if you gave him that volume of targets.

But yes, his speed, separation ability, quickness, and deep ball tracking were all generational.  Having one guy like that in your offense transforms every play.  The fact that they have tried to fill that roll with Torrey Smith, Mike Wallace, and finally old Desean shows how little Howie/Doug actually see the value in it.  Then they did an about face and reached for Reagor in desperation.

Hurts does not give us hope, unfortunately.

Point is this: Doug and Press and whoever you want to add from.the offensive coaching staff have been indefensibly terrible for the past  47 games.  They are indefensibly player killers.  In gambling parlance, they are coolers.

You'll get no argument from me with Press. I'm getting there with Doug.

I'll be fascinated to see what happens with Eagles injuries in 2021 if Doug is indeed fired. Not sure it's fair to blame him, but it's been 4 seasons in a row of losing multiple crucial players due to injury.

There have been issues all year long.  I literally say that in just about all of my responses to you.  Those issues have been spearheaded by Wentz' abysmal play for at least 8-9 games.  (I give him the benefit of the doubt since he played reasonably well in about 3-4 games).

Nope.  Those issues have existed independent of Wentz' play, and dare I say, may have in fact contributed to it - both feeding each other.   Or, do you expect that Wentz should have perfect chemistry with the likes of Hakeem Butler, Jeremy Croom, Adrian Killins, Travis Fulgham and whatever other waiver wire pickup they can put on the roster, while dealing with a horrid OL.   Yes, he played bad.  And ever other facet of the offense was bad too.  Coaching, play calling, etc.  Today, you finally looked and saw the other areas, and instead of blaming it on the QB, today you decided to blame the QB's performance on all the other stuff.   Nah... all the other stuff has been there all along causing all the issues you saw today, you just put the top issue on the QB.   Me... I blame the Coach above all else, because he was supposed to be a QB guy... having been a former QB, he should know how to help a QB.   Turns out, he doesn't really.

I don't know who will be better Hurts or Wentz 3 years from now.

But objectively, Hurts throws a more accurate ball and is more athletic. That's something.

Wentz will likely never be as bad as he was this season again, but I think it's just as unlikely he'll ever be what he was in 2017 again. He just doesn't look the same physically. Even just watching him run, he lumbers, has no giddy up.

So who to choose? If both players were paid equal money I'd be fine choosing Wentz. But if they can ditch that contract I'd totally support it to favor Hurts. And if Hurts busts, then so be it. We likely aren't contending in the next 3 seasons anyway.

Wentz Washer logic, Hurts one "bad” game as a rookie he’s a bust, Wentz 15 bad games including 12 in a row we get 33 Wentzcuses 😂

Jalen Hurts has led the offense to points on 2 of 18 second half drives since he became the starter.

Sign me up for neither.

I mean he's played in 3 games total.  Not sure how people can tell what a guy is or isnt after such a small sample size.

Don't think there is a door #3 that is legitimate. Fields stinks, I have no interest in him. If the Eagles are gonna take a QB in the top 5, it should be someone with more pedigree than Wilson.

Might have no choice but to pick one of em. Don't have the cap room to sign or or to draft another one.

Every Wentz hater, who is a Hurts (Nut) Hugger by default, should have this in their signature until the 2021 season starts.  This sums them up perfectly.  They are so blinded by their hatred for Wentz, similar to RTK's irrational hatred of Foles, that they only now see the other issues with the O and still haven't recognized the fact that those of us who have put blame on those other things (like poor WRs, Doug's ishy play calling, the decimated OL, etc.) have always put blame on Wentz as well.  But, anyone who doesn't blame just Wentz as the sole problem and tries to draw attention to other issues is a 'Wentz Washer'.  These hateful morons have been the worst posters here all season.  Congratulation on attaining RTK status.  You earned it.

There's maybe a dozen people among Eagles fans that think that the issues with this offense have more to do with Pederson/play-calling and the rest of the team vs. Carson Wentz and the vast amount of injuries.

You're one of the dozen, congrats.

This struggles this year are likely due to: 30% injuries, 30% Wentz' poor play, 20% scheme/playcalling/coaching 20% rest of the team.

Out of curiosity, what would your breakdown look like?

The injuries have been outrageous, but the issue is Doug's play calling and situational decisions exacerbate the injuries rather than helping to overcome them.  And, of course, that no player ever fricken develops and improves.

Trade Wentz and Hurts for what you can get.  Start Sudfeld and grab the 2022 #1.  Joking.  Maybe.

He doesn't give us hope because the coaching is so awful he can't overcome it.

I don't know how you could have watched Wentz the past 3 seasons and expect him to be 2017 Carson again. Or how you could have watched 2020 Carson and not think he was god awful.

I don't know how you could have watched Hurts today and not come away concerned about some of his bad habits.

The Eagles QB conversation/argument is so maddening because folks on each "side" are so averse to making any kind of concession.

How can Lurie justify keeping Roseman? We’re in worse shape now than after firing Chip.

He’s shown zero arm talent. That’s why.

I think there will be coaching changes this offseason.

For some reason, we're the SNF game next week.
