We all know the Eagles will win this week.  They are going to play loose with nothing to worry about and Doug will praise them for that and say how proud he is of his guys for fighting with nothing to gain.  DJack and Alshon will still play, Hightower will model the newest line of Eagles sideline gear once again.

A win most likely puts them at pick 10.  I'm really thinking trading down is the way to go.  I don't see a loaded top end of the draft and it feels like there are going to be a lot of reaches this year with how the Covid season played out, guys skipping their seasons to train and whatnot.  In true Eagles fashion, it's probably one of the worst years to have a top draft pick.

You also have to consider the salaries that come attached to draft picks now.

Pick 10 in 2020 was Jedrick Wills Jr.  HIs contract was $19.7 million $11.9 signing bonus.

Let's say the Eagles can trade down to 18, pick up an extra 2nd and a 4th (Avery sure is worth it!)  I have no idea what the value is dropping that far but that would be wishful thinking for me.

Pick 18 in 2020 was Austin Jackson $13.6 million $7.5 million signing bonus.

The difference of $6 million in the contract and $4 million in signing bonus could be very helpful to the Eagles and their cap this year.

Sounds like a total makeover to me 😉

If Lurie wants to get rid of Doug let's do it today. Why wait?

Lurie doesn't like to get rid of coaches usually until end of season.

No! We hardly ever get a chance to get the top talent.

Chip Kelly??

I didn't say he never has. But it's well known he doesn't like in season fires. And we don't even know he is getting fired.

Something I was pondering, let me explain the logic to it before you disagree.

The Eagles should shop Miles Sanders... if, I repeat if they can get a premium return for him.

The logic: RBs are replaceable, you can always find new ones. If you can use him one way or the other to fill a starting CB, OL, DE, WR, Safety them I think you should do it. This team is so many Fing needs, by the time the Eagles build a contender again, Sanders will likely be approaching a new contract, and very few RBs ever live up to that second contract. His trade value right now may never ever be higher. If you can get a high draft pick or young stud at a premium position for him I’d do it. Of not, totally fine with keeping him. I like him, just trying to think about building creatively.

If you can’t get something like that for him then I’m not giving him away.

That would pretty much always be my strategy. Draft RBs, make them look good, and then trade them away for more premium positions. I’d do it every few years if I could.

I really believe the McCoy trade for Alonzo hurt this team. I wouldn't do that all over again. One of the problems with this concept is that many teams and several draft experts believe that you don't invest premium draft capital at RB --- especially right now while most teams are building around the pass. Because of this, you probably still won't get a great return in a trade. In a player for player swap, you are probably looking at a damaged (injured or injury history), disgruntled (attitude question), or disappointing (hoping a change of scenery helps) player in return in order to hopefully fill a need. As far as second contracts, I don't think it's as much of an issue living up to it with HBs that get somewhat limited touches during the rookie contract. Players like D. Murray and Elliot enter that period with a lot of wear and tear and tend to see reduced effectiveness. Westbrook, on the other hand, probably played his best football on that second contract.

Even a player as awarded as Marshall Faulk was only able to bring in a 2nd and a 5th and he was a key reason the team that traded for him had the success they had. The team that gave him up invested an early 1st rd pick to replace him. When we got rid of McCoy, we invested a large portion of our cap replacing him in free agency.

I agree but did you read the rest of my post and my reasoning?

We're going to lose this week. Washington has everything to play for and will get Alex Smith back. Their front 4 / zone concepts is going to give our offense all kinds of problems.
Moreover, we're going to be IRing guys (Barnett, Cox, Riley, etc). Even guys in contract years aren't going to want to push themselves if they don't have to.

Best case scenario: top 6 pick + trade down to a team wanting a QB. We need more picks.

Congratulations to Travis Fulgham on being the first Eagles WR to go over 500 yards in the last 2 seasons ............

435 of them coming over a 5 weeks stretch...imagine if they kept feeding him the ball and stuck with him.  Could have been the first Eagles WR with a 1,000 yard season.

You want a Reagor to get 700 yards in 10-11 games ? I doubt it. Those QB's have nothing to do with him being soft. or getting open. or running lazy routes.

Did you read my post?  I said with a full 16 game season.

I don't care what he usually likes to do. Doug needs crap canned today. Howie can follow shortly. Start looking before everyone else.

I’ll hold off judgement on Reagor until he gets real NFL coaching.

While that’s fair, Reagor has not shown any flashes of talent that made him a supposed first round pick, which is extremely alarming. He looks like a JAG out there. No special talent. He reminds me of a slightly more talented version of Josh Huff.

That WR rotation. Yuck.

feels like we haven’t seen fulgham make any plays since like week 9 and he’s still our leading pass catcher.....

I disagree. I have seen flashes, just few and far between.

It depends. If you keep Doug I say you trade Miles Sanders for a 5th rounder. Doug doesnt use him. Doug doesnt use him correctly and Doug forgets about him.

It would be like Freddie Mercury dating Jennifer Lopez. I can guarantee she wont be used correctly or as much as she should

A fifth rounder? We have enough backup CBs

Yup. Just brutal.

He started to play well so the Eagles reduced his snaps. It’s the Eagles way

Well he's the owner and we aren't so don't know what to tell you?

LOL. Another small reason why the team needs a reset

For those wanting Doug fired. Be patient. I’d be shocked if Lurie fired Doug any earlier than next Monday. He won us a Super Bowl and has been a good to great coach in his time here. Give him the respect he deserves and let him coach it out.
