WR rotation:

With no due respect to Reagor, we have needed a deep threat all year and completely lacked one.  Hightower, overall as a WR, has been terrible...but has shown interesting ability to separate deep, much more so than Reagor.

Earlier in the year, it was all Hightower, all the time as he screwed up all over the field.  Now it’s all Watkins and Hightower is dead to them.

These same coaches will force feed steady opportunities to Alshon and Desean when they are available.

They couldn’t create a more uniform and steady exposure for Hightower/Watkins to get them up to speed than this?

No OTA’s ...

It's interesting the timing of his comments. He's either campaigning to keep his job or maybe was given some assurances after Hurts two game hot streak.

That would be highly doubtful imo

I think it's actually somewhat difficult to properly evaluate a lot of the players on the team. The coaching on both sides of the ball has been so bad, that it's really hard to get a true sense of where guys talent levels are. And look at some of the guys who've left, Rasul, Agholor having a great year (tho his time here was up, no argument there, but he does have talent).

With all the cap issues we're looking at, I think it's fine to purge who and what you can to really setup for 2022. But bring in a new coaching staff on both sides, and use 2021 as an evaluation year for who will be here long term and who won't be. I think it's somewhat baseless to proclaim that a lot of the guys on the team aren't talented and will never amount to anything. Including both QBs, quite frankly.

It's just....insane how far and fast the entire team has collapsed. But here we are. I think Howie needs to go as well, his time has finished here, but my gut tells me Lurie will keep him around and fire the coaching staffs (please God, let Stoutland stay).

Yup.  Been saying it for weeks.  2021 is going to be bad, but at least with a new coaching staff and new GM, we might get a chance to see who hasn't been able to play because of the scheme/plays/mess around him, and who can't play because he just can't play.

Which is why I am FULLY on board... beating the drum for the parade for those wanting a trade down in the 1st round (and every round, for that matter) looking to get 2022 picks in exchange.   Move from #5 to #10, get a 2022 1st for the drop.   Move from #10 to #20 and get another for all I care.  Do the same in every round that you can.... but even trading back in any given round to stockpile some picks for 2021 wouldn't be too bad either.  They will need some cheap players out there.  Hopefully they can bring in some good coaches to fix things.  And a talent evaluator that's worth his salt.

It's true, we are.  It's also true that Sanders is not foundational and can be valuable on the field or as part of a trade

I understand the mindset behind this, and perhaps I'll jump on board at some point, but it's too early to beat this drum now I think. We don't know yet if we'll be picking 3rd or 10th. That has an impact on things. Let's say we end up 6th, which seems most likely. If there's a cornerstone type guy there, I'd rather they just take him and be done with it. That will depend on the hopefully new coaching and scouting staff though. If there isn't a guy they absolutely love and see as a 10 year guy, then definitely look to aggressively trade down and stockpile. It's also too early to say (IMO) who will be available where we pick, a lot can change between now and March.

When else do you run a fake kneel down play? Yesterday was their season so they busted it out. If you can’t see how that makes sense I can’t help you.

Makes you wonder why they didn't throw a Hail Mary from their own 44 before the half of the GB game.  🤔

They are 3 years away from being remotely competitive.  RB have very short shelf lives.  Trade him for a good value.  Fire Howie and bring in a real football guy to make the pics.

I disagree in the fact that in the nfl teams do turn it around quickly. Just need a few good players and a proper scheme. That being said ... we need a few good players ands a scheme that works.

Very important and consequential loss yesterday.  Proud of the team for getting it done, and in style.  Hopefully the owner enjoyed watching his team get smoked by a bitter rival playing a backup QB.  Maybe at some point he gets hit in the head by something and wakes up to the fact that his team has been hemorrhaging talent as guys age out or leave, has missed so many opportunities to select or sign better players, and now is left with the Gold Standard of a talent-deficient team with a horrible salary cap, and the cherry on top franchise QB entering the first year of his big $$ contract having been benched.  No franchise QB has ever been signed and been supported less.  Maybe it's time to surround yourself with people that know what the F they are doing before you further embarrass yourself as an owner, and leave us as fans in this situation.

Anyways.... This week is crucial.  We need to execute this week as they have done most of the year and get a losing plan put together.  Meaningless wins are setbacks for any franchise, especially one as bad as the Eagles are right now.  As discussed in the past, "finishing on a high note" is complete nonsense in 90+% of situations and this would apply here.  For a team like the Giants, with a young QB and first year coach, that drafts in the top ten for like a decade straight and still stinks, you want to "finish on a high note."  A win helps more than a few draft slots.  Most of the time the opposite is true as it is for the Eagles.  I want to see top 5!!!

Fortunately, it looks like defenses have adapted to Hurts tendencies and are starting to take away his run option much more effectively.  This has dramatically changed his effectiveness as a passer, and so the Eagles look much easier to plan for and defeat.  I'm not sure why teams didn't adjust sooner.

After watching Hurts last week, I honestly went into yesterday thinking, jeeez, here I am hoping for the necessary change and best possible draft position, and if the Skins lose today the Eagles are going to win the damn division.  They are probably getting smoked against Tampa or the Rams or something, but what an incredible turnaround.  With Hurts running all over the place and teams seemingly confused as to how to stop a college option offense, we are going to beat these other weak NFCE teams.  I thought we were going to win out. Then the Cowboys correctly targeted the Eagles downfield, and their D started playing zone and taking away Hurts run option on each play.  I'm still impressed by what Hurts has shown, though we are starting to see some of the expected limitations.  Overall, though, he has impressed and has exceeded expectations.  As of now, his selection remains the most insane and indefensible draft pick of all time.  We will see how the situation evolves into next year, but this year was obviously a total and complete disaster.

Let's hope we get that loss and maybe some lucky help from Houston, Atlanta and/or Cincy... but the loss is an absolute must.  I'm focused on what is best for the Eagles, but also as a fan I'd rather see the Skins take it this year than give a home playoff game to either Dallas or NYG.

I thought this headline (last of Jimmy's points) was spot on... there is no justification of any kind for retaining Howie Roseman as GM.

Delassandro's

Well....that's that.  End of the road.  Disappointing loss, it's always hard to sweep a division rival.  So it's another split with Dallas but this loss end our playoff chances after starting pretty good first half.   Sadly Defense over the last two weeks gave up way to many yards and points.  Also we made some mistakes on Offense after half that didn't help.   Jalen did what he could over these last 3 weeks but the hole was too deep.   Overall 4-10-1 says it all.  We just weren't a good team this year.  I'm glad they fought in these last 3 games.  We had a chance and making the Playoffs is always better than not making it.   Our Eagles will not be playing in January for the playoffs first time in 3 years.

Also we are now in a situation that we could send Giants, Cowboys or Washington to the Playoffs.   We have a lot of work to do in the off season but my overall feeling is yes there is blame to go around but injuries really did us in this season.   We were able to overcome them the last 3 years but this season it was too much.   In the end we will lose the division at most by a 1/2 game or game.  So we will not be the worst Division Champ in NFL History.  But we will be last place in a terrible year for our Division. That's the bad news.  The Good news is last time we were last place, we came back strong and won the Super Bowl.   We can turn this around quickly with  the right off season moves.   And this will be the 16th Season in a row there will be a new NFC East Champ.   The 2001-2004 Eagles were the last repeat Division Champs.

I think Hurts missed a lot of open receivers by ducking and running after his first read was taken away. He scrambled out of a lot of clean pockets.

In the Cardinals game but if you go back to the Ward touchdown where he gets his foot down that is a play that shouldn’t have been that complicated to get the touchdown. On that play hurts doesn’t go through his progressions. He throws the ward and ward  at nearlY doesnt get his foot down but reality is if you go back and watch that play Jalen reagor is wide open in the middle of the end zone. When I say wide open there’s not anybody within 5 to 6 yards. If he through his progressions that’s an easy touchdown and you don’t have to go to replay hoping video confirms Ward getting his foot down.

Ultimately this plays in to what you said yesterday as he saw his first option and if it wasn’t there he would take off. It was more exposed yesterday as the eagles got further and further behind. He had a play I wanna say late in the third-quarter where Miles Sanders was wide open and had a ton of yards in front of him. Meanwhile his first progression was not there and then he decided to take off and it was a minimal gain.

That said he’s a rookie so I expect some of that to occur especially when I thought the oline got worse as the game carried on. That said if he wants to get to being a high tier caliber starter then he needs to advance in this area. If you just take off and run after your first read then you aren’t going to be anything More than a marginal QB in this league.

that said Matt pryor and seumalo had lousy games. Pryor had 4 penalties yesterday (3 false starts and a holding penalty). I’m not sure how you have 3 false starts in a game on the road with basically a small fraction of the stadium filled. Seumalo in this aspect wasn’t much better as he was called for 2 of them. I though performance wise pryor was about as awful as he has been all year. I think seumalo wasn’t nearly as good as he had been the previous two weeks.

The two games he was the love child of Russel Wilson and Patrick Mahomes and Wentz foreclosed on his house because he was writing a check to the Eagles for $120M just to escape from philly, and the Eagles were an impressive .500 and ready to make the playoffs and go the distance because Hurts was so special.

I’m all for drafting good F’ing players for a change instead of guys that are "alright” or bums. And I don’t care how we do it other than trading up.

But, give me a really good player over a couple pretty good ones. This franchise needs it.
