I understand the mindset behind this, and perhaps I'll jump on board at some point, but it's too early to beat this drum now I think. We don't know yet if we'll be picking 3rd or 10th. That has an impact on things. Let's say we end up 6th, which seems most likely. If there's a cornerstone type guy there, I'd rather they just take him and be done with it. That will depend on the hopefully new coaching and scouting staff though. If there isn't a guy they absolutely love and see as a 10 year guy, then definitely look to aggressively trade down and stockpile. It's also too early to say (IMO) who will be available where we pick, a lot can change between now and March.

Nope.  The 2020 NCAA was weirder than the 2020 NFL season.  People are pumping up Ja'Marr Chase and Penei Sewell.  Both are being touted as top 5 picks.  Both sat out the entire season.  That makes me wary of them.  Besides... the guy I see as the best player in this draft right now is going to be there at #10 or maybe even #15.  Wyatt Davis.  He played this year (not a lot of games, but every game his team did), and has great bloodlines which helps me feel better about him.

But, the ideal is to get picks for 2022, when the 2021 NCAA season goes back to normal (hopefully) and you can get a better evaluation of what is going on.

Gross.  I hope that its as much a matter of being oblivious as when he's calling plays.

If he’s half as in tune with his own job security as he is with his assistants, I think we can assume he’s gone.

Howie and Doug both will be back next year, to think Lurie is going to get rid of them after one season is laughable.

That’s a stupid way to look at it. Odds are it doesn’t work, but if it hits, it could have been a big play. That’s why they did it.

This is like people complaining about the end of the half pass to Reagor, that could have been a huge play if Ward decided to block someone.

You guys are too into your emotions to see plays for what they are.

I think the stupid way to look at it would be attempting a run play at our own 25 yard line with 12 seconds left in the half and 2 timeouts.  Typically you throw a pass or actually just kneel it in that situation instead of running the ball.

But I guess thats stupid though

Jalen Hurts looked a lot different yesterday after he started getting smacked around.

He got smacked around because Doug abandoned the run

Sound familiar?

There is a difference between running the ball on 2 out of 3 plays with one of Hurts/Sanders/Scott, then doing a bunch of designed roll outs, throwing one single read pass downfield per series......that versus actually having to drop back and pass your way out of a hole.

Hurts is a rudimentary, awkward passer and that was exposed yesterday.

Wentz was exposed all year

So. Do these teams have anything to play for?  As far as moving up for playoffs. Titans, Ravens and Bucs. Just seeing if we can move up from 6.

I disagree in the fact that in the nfl teams do turn it around quickly. Just need a few good players and a proper scheme. That being said ... we need a few good players ands a scheme that works.

I actually wish i had the post saved when i went back into this showing the jump people are seeing isn’t necessarily a short quick fix. On the surface it looks like most of the teams in the league they might be 6-10 or 7-9 one year then go 11-5 and people say wow what a quick turn around. Meanwhile the two years prior to 6-10 they also weren’t very good. So it was more of a 2-3 year fix. Some examples i could come up with (there’s a lot more in the original post on the old bird showing 2-3 years wa s’more of the norm than just a one year blip):

seattle before Wilson and 2012: 4-12, 5-11, 7-9 and 7-9

Saints from 2014-2016 before getting back to the top tier teams in 2017: 7-9, 7-9 and 7-9

Cardinals before resurgence with Palmer and going 10-6: 5-11, 8-8 and 5-11

Chiefs before reid took over in 2013: 7-9 and 2-14.

atlanta before 2016 getting to a SB: 4-12, 6-10 and 8-8

There’s a lot more teams like this then teams like the colts who were atrocious one year and then back to good the next year.

I’m all for drafting good F’ing players for a change instead of guys that are "alright” or bums. And I don’t care how we do it other than trading up.

But, give me a really good player over a couple pretty good ones. This franchise needs it.

I agree.   Put me in charge and you'll get some good players.  ;)   You can get good players while trading down.  The key is recognizing which ones are good and which ones are garbage.

Yeah totally, it took the NFL 5 years but finally they figured it out

Frankly the Titans do. They need to win that game to make the playoffs. Colts win and the Titans lose the colts win the division. And if the browns also win they’d lose the tiebreaker to the browns.

ravens also have everything to play for. They win and they clinch a playoff spot.

bucs are the team with really not a ton to play for. They have clinched a playoff spot and are the 5 seed if they win. Better opponent in round one if they beat atlanta then likely facing seattle in the first round. However the Rams might not have Goff next week against Arizona with a dislocated and broken thumb. If the Rams lose that game they are locked into the 6 seed. So the bucs probably want to play the nfc East (early game whereas the Rams game is a late game) instead of just resting guys week 17.

Completely sensible take, can't argue with it really. I guess the only caveat to it all is finding a willing partner in the range you'd like to still land Davis.

As for Pats/Genos, I know the local take is both are crap. In my one visit to Philly, I took the walk down there the day after Andy Reid's first game back at the Linc with the Chiefs, a Thursday nighter in which we retired McNabb's jersey. I was so hungover (ended up passing out in the bathtub in our hotel room). The thing I remember most about Pats/Genos wasn't the cheesteaks....it was the walk down there, passing by the shops with live animals in cages just waiting to be butchered. We don't really see those types of markets here, and being as hungover as I was, it was.....unpleasant. Next time I come back, I'm gonna seek out a proper cheesteak place. Is D'Alessandros the best? I've heard great things about John's as well, but more for the pork?

35 yard line against the Cowboys, down 2. we kneeled. could of ran it

38 yard line against the browns, down 7.

Our 41, against the packers

Ok. So now what? What would have made it better to run then instead of yesterday?

I guarantee you if he had called it then and it went for 10 yards you would have ripped him to shreds.

Browns Vs Steelers

Ravens At Bills

Dolphins at Titans

Bears at Saints(bears win)

Rams at Seattle

Redskins at Tampa(It'll be the cowboys)

Unless something has changed, the Football team will host if they win the division?

Yes, you typically do that, which is why you call a play like that one to try to catch them sleeping. This isn’t hard to figure out.

Of all the things to complain about...

Good points and I wouldn't mind a trade back where we get Davis and extra picks.  Perhaps given our cap situation and the scenario you mentioned of being better to evaluate next season's NCAA players then 2022 picks over 2021 picks.  I also think should we (and we certainly should) bring in a whole new coaching staff (keep Stoutland) with a new scheme that we get a chance to see who can actually play in a good scheme and who simply can't play so we better know who to move on from and where we need to improve most as far as personnel.  Davis seems like he could be an IOL beast, which is something we need.  Who knows if Kelce can see how the next 2-3 years will be a struggle and might decide to retire or if Brooks can return to 90% of his quality form?  I rather like the idea of seeing Mailata and Davis playing next to each other as I think that's be fun to watch.

Hoping the Falcons win since they could be a team looking to trade up for a QB

They should have. Obviously.

Which is 'best' is mostly a matter of opinion based on what part of the city you are from.  Everyone in each little neighborhood has their guy.  I'm a suburb guy, and can honestly tell you, the ones in the suburbs can be just as good as any in the city.  They can also be bad... same as the ones in the city.  I've never had D'Alessandro's, so I can't speak to that one.  But, there's plenty of places better than Pat's and Geno's.

The thing is, fans on this forum have consistently picked better players over what Howie has picked. Jefferson was a great example of that. 90% of the fans on this forum wanted Jefferson.
