Hoping the Falcons win since they could be a team looking to trade up for a QB

I think that game depends a lot on if the bucs rest guys or if they play that game to win. Bucs win they clinch the five seed. The Falcons played the chiefs tough yesterday and the week before against the bucs so it’s not a push over. That said i don’t see the bucs resting guys even if Goff is out. The Rams defense is capable of being good enough to beat the cardinals with not much offense. I think the Rams if the bucs win are more likely to rest guys as the bucs/Falcons game is an early game.

Howie and Doug both will be back next year, to think Lurie is going to get rid of them after one season is laughable.

Bite your tongue!

But i suspect you're right.

Neither has earned the right to be back.  Neither should be back.  Roseman has been the far more inept of the two, with league-worst drafting going on several years now, missed opportunities galore, awful contracts, indefensible decisions, bad trades, bad or just plain stupid justifications given, league worst cap situation.  Doug has been awful this year.  He does get some props for getting the team into the playoffs the prior two years, but even in those years there were far too many games where the team was unprepared or out-coached.  The team was still talented in 2018 and rather than competing for a title again (look at the Chiefs this year sitting at 14-1), they embarked on a victory tour.  That tour was not curtailed after 2-3 weeks or a month, but lasted into November before they started caring about the current season.  That year was largely coaching and leadership that allowed that to happen.

Bottom line, what justification do you have for retaining either of them?  I can come up with quite a few reasons to move on... I can think of a couple of things in Doug's corner but not enough to be compelling.  I do not find a single justification for Howie Roseman remaining as GM.

He's a secret love child of Jeff Lurie.

But even Ed Snyder knew that he had to fire his son from GM duties.

Almost guaranteed to be a top 10, maybe better than that.

LOL If Doug comes back......  wow. Then Wentz has to go-  shame, he was clearly the best QB we have had in the past 40 Years, but Doug and Howie screwed him up.

So lets keep Doug and Howie, and get rid of the Franchise QB they helped ruin- yeah that seems like the Eagle Thing to do.

I actually wish i had the post saved when i went back into this showing the jump people are seeing isn’t necessarily a short quick fix. On the surface it looks like most of the teams in the league they might be 6-10 or 7-9 one year then go 11-5 and people say wow what a quick turn around. Meanwhile the two years prior to 6-10 they also weren’t very good. So it was more of a 2-3 year fix. Some examples i could come up with (there’s a lot more in the original post on the old bird showing 2-3 years wa s’more of the norm than just a one year blip):

seattle before Wilson and 2012: 4-12, 5-11, 7-9 and 7-9

Saints from 2014-2016 before getting back to the top tier teams in 2017: 7-9, 7-9 and 7-9

Cardinals before resurgence with Palmer and going 10-6: 5-11, 8-8 and 5-11

Chiefs before reid took over in 2013: 7-9 and 2-14.

atlanta before 2016 getting to a SB: 4-12, 6-10 and 8-8

There’s a lot more teams like this then teams like the colts who were atrocious one year and then back to good the next year.

Need a few good players. The teams you mentioned added good players. Plus, playing last place schedule doesn’t hurt either.

Right now, my lean is trade Wentz now and see what we have with Hurts in 2021. If Hurts isn't the guy, get a QB in 2022. Use 2021 as a year to get into ok cap shape.

If we can get a 1st rd pick from Hurts you do that today.

Now what can we get for JJAW?

Djax?

Alshon?

Brooks?

Lane?

Ertz?

No worries... they'll ruin another one too.

This seems like the most likely scenario, however a new coaching staff needs to be part of the evaluation and decision.  In the meantime, start building the team the way great teams are made.  Looking for difference makers of course, but prioritizing the offensive and defensive lines.

Those teams did add good players via the draft and free agency. The Eagles do not have the cap space right now and probably minimal when they get under the cap. So the likelihood doing so that way is minimal. you have the draft which you’re going to be picking high enough that you should get impactful players but then again the Eagles haven’t done a particularly great job at drafting so relying on rookies and the draft to just build your roster from a four win team to a playoff contending team in a offseason is probably not realistic.

The last play schedule really might not be as great as you think. The Eagles are going to play San Francisco next year as they are going to finish in last place. I think San Francisco is going to be much better next year than they were this year if they just stay somewhat healthy. The lions and Falcons likely are both bad.

Sure.  But, if I can get a top 10 pick in 2022 from Atlanta for Hurts, I do it.

Having two top 10s make getting the QB you want in 2022 easier.

JJAW, a year of free gatorade.

DJax and Alshon, premium AFLAC membership

Brooks and Lane are here for 2021 while grooming replacements for 2022.

Ertz, 3rd round pick at best.

No one is giving up a top 10 pick for Hurts. The only team I could see considering it is New England. He's better, younger and cheaper than Cam. Saban/Belicheck are tight and Hurts will do whatever Belicheck wants.

those issue's all fall on coaching

Yes, you typically do that, which is why you call a play like that one to try to catch them sleeping. This isn’t hard to figure out.

Of all the things to complain about...

No a decent tricky play would have been what they ran to Reagor a couple plays later, or a screen or something like that.  Those would have been infinitely more palatable than running a freaking fake kneel down.  Those plays actually have a shot to work whereas the fake kneel is just something you do for funsies.

It just further insicates that Doug has nothing left. He has no answers and hasnt for months.  All he has is gimmick, just like going to Jalen Hurts instead of actually coaching someone.

And dont worry, I have so much more to complain about.  That just popped into my head because it was extra embarrassing that we tried a trick running play with 12 seconds left on our own 25

The circumstance for Hurts is identical to Wentz, they deserve a bit of criticism, BUT with huge asterisks as to what extenuating circumstances they were put under, which are far bigger issues than either QB.  Lack of talent around them, bad game plans and play calling etc.

I stated you cannot realistically judge a QB's play, by playing for this team this year. You just cannot.

And it's not the first time we've heard it.  Entire staff has got to go along with Howie.  Will be really interesting to hear Lurie after the season is over.  I'm curious to see if he is looking towards the future or if he continually references SB52 and what WAS, not what needs to be.

Nah.  Hurts had no help.  Wentz just sucks.

What is our draft scenario. How low/high of a pick can we expect and what is the most probable eagles pick.

Could get as high as #3. Can't be lower than #10.

Likely to be somewhere around #5.
