It’ll be interesting to see what’s done at WR this offseason. Is there the cap space to sign a starter? They go WR round 1? Do you really want to add another mid round guy or two? Is Jackson back? Alshon?

a 3rd Left Tackle and a guy who sat on the couch for the last year is our saviors

They better do the due diligence if they're gonna take someone who opted out when so many good players stayed in.

If nothing happens to Howie and Doug, get ready for this to be the excuse and lip service from the team for this season. "Unprecedented year, we didn’t have camp, the players couldn’t work out, etc, etc.

If the season ended today they should trade back with the Broncos(currently 10) or 49ers(14th)

who both have a ton of draft capitol

Wasn’t your whole stance we should lose out to get a high draft pick because Howie can’t draft good in the middle of the round and would draft a dud at 19 but now you want to go back to 14?

Also not good 26 turnovers by the offense is 3rd most in the league. And 3rd most penalties in the nfl. Yikes

Doug, Schwartz and Howie. Thank You.

For sure. For their sake, I hope they're preparing better excuses. Look at the injuries Dallas is dealing with. Rivera is coaching while receiving cancer treatment. All three other NFCE teams have lost their starting QB to injury, and all three have new coaches who have had no offseason.

This is going to be a long rebuild man. I think you need to accept that now. They should not be trying to rush this thing. Yes, doubling up on OT is not ideal because they have other positions that are currently weaker, but if in 5 years it makes us the better team that’s all that matters. I’ve already accepted we are not contending in the next 3-4 years and everything I want the Eagles to do is based on that.

We don’t get top 5 picks often. I want to come out of it with a blue chip prospect at a premium position. Outside of QB there is no more important position than LT. If in 5 years we look back at that as the right move, then it was the right move. Even if this year it looks a little weird. To me the 2021 isn’t even relevant and I wouldn’t make any moves based on 2021. The team is going to suck next year. I’d prefer Chase to Sewell, but I’d be happy if Sewell was the pick if he’s going to be a decade long top 5 LT.

I agree with you fundamentally, but I would disagree that a rebuild always takes that long.  3-4 years of no contention may happen, but it can also happen much faster with better people making decisions and a little luck.

I would much prefer to have a potential elite LT than a good WR on a bad team.  In a rebuild, you need to have elite lines and QB first.  Then impact players at other positions, starting with the passing game WR/CB.  Then rounding out into the other positions, TE, S.  LBs and RBs can be added anytime, generally best when the core of the team is in place, however opportunities to add actual impact players at any position should never be overlooked.  The Eagles need to find difference makers and in most cases take the most talented players they can.

For any of this to happen, they are going to need a new team doing the scouting, evaluations and selections.

Thats where you're wrong. This team isnt 5 years out with the right coach and either of the QB;s. (you pick)

Now add in the fact that you can have 6 or 7 picks in the first 3 rounds this year, you're a lot closer than you think

By either of the QBs do you mean Hurts/Wentz? Or do you mean in the draft? I assume you mean Hurts or Wentz and I don't agree.

We have a bad coach and a bad GM and two unproven QBs. Right now, the Eagles future landscape is one of the 5 worst in all the NFL. Seriously, try to find 5 teams in a worse position than we are.

The coach hasn't been good for 3 years and the offense has been mediocre at best after 2017.

Our cap situation is Fed so we'll need to nail the draft, but we have a GM who can't draft... and now can't even manage the cap well anymore either.

We don't have a stockpile of picks or anything because we weren't sellers at the deadline.

Our franchise QB plummeted overnight and is making a ton of money.

Our best players are over 30 and making a lot of money.

We have very little young, elite talent.

We are getting all kinds of weird leaks coming from the organization which means key people in there are leaking stuff to try and make themselves look better publicly.

The locker room could possibly be split one way or the other based on who gets the QB job next year.

The Eagles future landscape is a Fing disaster. The only way we are contending again any time soon is if Wentz returns to 2017 form(unlikely) or Hurts is the next Russell Wilson. And if Doug is fired, good luck on finding a good coach coming here. We'd be one of the least desirable jobs on the market.

I think you can rebuild in the NFL very quickly. If you have the right guys running the show. It's the easiest in league sports to rebuild in. That's the problem though, we don't. Howie is destroying us. And Doug is bad now. And our roster is a mess with bad contracts and older players. So if you don't have the right guys in the right places, then you become teams like the Jets, Browns, and Bengals who suck for years.

Lurie better get his head out of his ass and can Howie or that's where we're headed. Maybe not that extreme, but pretty bad.

Yeah but do we know how much influence those other coaches had behind DP? McDermott will be coach of the year and he was fired here.

There is lots of coaching talent out there we don’t know about.

I doubt the most recent ones had much influence, but we obviously saw Reich's impact here.  I can't imagine how arrogant an organization must be in order to ignore the OC position, which has proven to be an absolute disaster.

McDermott was the long time protoge of one of the great defensive minds we've ever witnessed.  He was made the scapegoat for 1 bad year of defense in his first year as coordinator under a head coach that was close to the end here.  It's not surprising he went to Carolina under a defensive-minded head coach and absolutely flourished in that role.  I can't compare him to anyone on the offensive side of the ball in Philly.

Yeah, because none of the other teams were affected.

You know what’s sadly ironic...when it’s all said and done, the tie against the Bengals will go down as the best game the Eagles have played this year.

49ers game IMO

Which is still pretty pathetic

I don't know why they would want either QB when they just had a talent like Lawrence fall into their laps. Also this team can't afford to make that kind of offer that it would require to move up from 6 or so to the #1 pick. There are far too many issues on this roster to give up a huge haul to get there. If anything the Eagles need to trade down, but with Howie making the picks I don't think it will matter.

I'm not saying I would do it. I'm trying to get into Howie's brain. I fear he might feel desperate and will be motivated to do something dramatic.

Kind of like this.....

You ask the players to put their bodies on the line for you... you need to have their back when a guy cheap shots your guy.    He came up weak after the Wentz cheap shot by Clowney... and he's coming up weaker with Mailata.

Idk how you can say it’s that game over the Saint’s game but I’m sure that reason is Taysom Hill.

Stupid doing a somersault on your recovering ankle.    Moron.

Another random draft thought. How much time you think the Eagles put into looking into a Mac Jones or Trey Lance? I wouldn’t completely rule it out

I'll take a year off to consider my options.

Anyone else starting to get the feeling that the only changes is gonna be a few assistants and Doug, Howie and Co will be back?

1 minute ago, Bacarty2 said:

It's not a disaster. This coaching staff has our team brainwashed that this is a team with 4 win talent, but it's because of piss poor coaching.

As I mentioned and most agree, this is an 8 or 9 win team with a good coach(god forbid a great coach). Now add in a top 10 and a 37ish draft pick you can make the case for them being a top 5 team in the NFC.

And, as I mentioned before, our Salary cap is exactly why you trade back to the 10-14 range, gobble up picks in the 2nd and 3rd round that you can still hit on and help a ton with the slaary cap

By the way, our QB didnt plummet over night. He's been on a downward spiral with this coach forever but in years past Hero ball helped him while scheme hurt him.

You give Wentz a good scheme tomorrow and he;s going to be just fine.

I'm not sure I agree with that. I think this season is far more on the talent than the coaching. I think coaching has a lot to do with it too. But our guys don't make plays. We have no playmakers. Doug is trying to draw blood from a stone with these guys.

Now, if we had Kyle Shanahan, do I think we'd be better off? Sure. But even if we could somehow get to 8 wins, that really doesn't impress me. 8 wins in this awful division? Yawn. I want to win a Super Bowl. Not be an 8 or 9 win team in a terrible division.

Regardless of coach, we are miles from the NFL's best teams. And that's the category I want the Eagles to be in. And to get there I think we need to build "low and slow." Like smoking a brisket. Take your time, do it right. If we only fill 3 holes an offseason, but fill them with blue chip talent, then I'm fine waiting 3 years to have an elite team that can contend for 5 years.

I miss the Andy Reid days greatly, I never thought I'd say it. Being a surefire contender every single year. Took it for granted. I want to build back to that.

100% correct and completely agree.

That being the case should have been an advantage for the Eagles. The other 3 teams in the division had a first year HC

I think it's pretty likely Doug and Howie are back. Maybe Jim Schwartz will walk because his contract is up, but I'll be completely shocked if there are any significant changes.
