Come from being a Steelers fan. Nobody else in the world gives 2 craps about the Browns

lol

I have some friends in Cleveland.  I respect them for their loyalty and devotion to just a brutal team.   I pull for Cleveland to field a legitimate football team for their sakes.   They've been through so much, and their fanbase deserves better.  IMHO.

Doug and his staff have no say in decision making?

Oh right.

I mean I'm not sure how they could be fans at this point.

Howie doing his own thing as usual.

This could be from Doug.  It could also be from Schwartz who appeared frustrated about Jenkins leaving and about them taking Hurts over Chinn.

Yep.  Knew there was something to this when the reports came out that Chinn was higher on their draft board than Hurts.

Do you guys not remember the big smile on Doug’s face when they drafted Hurts. The guy was as giddy as a kid on Christmas.

Yeah I’d say it’s way more about Schwartz than Doug.

Many of us on here have been calling for one voice and a philosophy from the Eagles.  The org reflects the GM - the strategy drifts on the wind based on the advisor du jour and the owner dipping his hand in on his favourites.  The saying, you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes springs to mind.

Lurie will do all he can to avoid it, but his boy needs to be removed from power and he has to accept that he will never sniff a SB while the current many heads approach is in place. It worked once, but the results after are incredibly mediocre.  It needs fresh eyes, fresh energy and a clear structure and accountability.

Maybe the Eagles will just claim that they won the division - by a lot.

Maybe when you wake up tomorrow, there will be some additional wins in the Eagles column... even more than games played.  5 AM drop of wins gives them the division.  No teams will get additional losses, these will just be wins for the Eagles.  No clue where they came from.  Won't matter.  We will then call them NFC East Division Champions-Elect.

Jeff Lurie deserves every bit of blame for this.  He's given Howie the power and not held him accountable for everything.  This organization is a complete wreck from top to bottom.  If Howie isn't fired then there really is no hope until Lurie sells.

I have no idea if Hurts was Doug's call or not based on a smile.  I can see how Doug could have been sold on Hurts.  I believe McLane on the Reagor decision but I think that came from Howie so it's not trustworthy.

Howie finding a way to distance himself from the Jefferson/Reagor decision process...

Wentz haters can't make up their mind if he holds the ball too long or leaves the pocket too early.

He doesn’t throw the ball away period just takes a sack over and over

They love pro football... They are also loyal to their city... to their team.   And contrary to the nonsense that was thrown about in here earlier, they fought the NFL to keep their team.   The NFL, rather than fighting the battle in the courts, gave Modell what he wanted and let him move to Baltimore, but didn't let the records go with them, just the organization, the 'BROWNS' stayed in Cleveland and they were awarded an 'expansion' team that took over the Browns history.

The owners are the stewards for the fans.  The fans are really the ones who own the team, not financially, but emotionally.  They've invested far more than some stupid billionaire who only threw money at the franchise to 'acquire it'.

That's the problem is that Howie goes whichever way the wind is blowing.

Yup.   Put someone at the top and make that person accountable for ALL decisions.   If he doesn't.... then that person is Lurie himself, and he's wrong!

Doug could be very happy working with Hurts, but he could still want Chinn to be the player that was drafted as it would have solved a short term need for him

I would be with you, also because I hate Pittsburgh.  But Baker Mayfield is such an unlikable dooooosh.

I hear you.   I don't really care about the Browns themselves.  I just feel bad for my friends who have suffered so much.

And the blurred edges are great for his background tinkering.  He can dip in and out, and not suffer the blame game as there is always a Patsy somewhere

You must have missed the 60s and much of the 70s as an Eagles fan

Horrible organizational structure.

Lurie has been a good owner.  I think Lurie really won't hesitate to get rid of Howie or severely neuter him if he truly believes Howie is the issue.  He did it once already in order to keep a coach he thought was key to winning.  He will do it again.  Also, it's not like Howie wouldn't be able to get other opportunities.  I think Howie may want out at a certain point if he feels like he's being treated unfairly.  I am not saying that Howie shouldn't go but we don't know what the decision dynamic has been in terms of draft picks, contract decisions, and roster decisions.  So when a story like McManus's comes out Howie may think it's totally unfair.  Lurie has like a .555  winning percentage as an owner.  The franchise has an under .500 percentage as a whole.  So saying Lurie is the reason I think gives him far too little credit.  I don't think he will tolerate losing.  I mean he's clearly not been happy with the results the last 2 seasons and has forced changes.  He's not going to sit pat this offseason if he thinks he needs to get rid of someone.

It is.  It's suffering from bored octogenarian syndrome with a large of dose arrogance.  I hope this rock bottom is enough for even the most stubborn leaders to reconsider what he has allowed to happen.  I can't imagine the coaches exit interviews will be fun

Yup, my earliest memories are the late 70s.  Of course, it's not like the Eagles up and left town and won a Super Bowl in another city.
