Lurie has been and is the best Eagles owner over the past 50 years and it isn't debatable.

Leonard Tose-

Norman Braman

Lurie.

He is not the problem.  Without a doubt  he sees the issues of poor drafting and the cap hell.  Lurie has made a lot of excellent and tough decisions since he became owner,  he will do it again.   We may not agree with how it shakes out this off season, but it will be ameasured, considered, and difficult decisions.

He will be the problem if he keeps Howie who is ruining the team

While I have made it clear I am not a Howie fan, nor a Doug fan, I do believe it is more nuanced than an either/or scenario.  I trust Lurie.   He has been an excellent owner in just about every way.  Whatever decisions he makes this off season he will not be the problem.

Family friend got this for me for late Christmas

Honestly, he's kept the Eagles relevant in a city and state that is not desirable in any way.  Not easy to do.  Terrible whether, taxes suck, and a mostly irrational fan base.  I think you underestimate what he has accomplished.

Has been.  Doesn't give him a free pass at all and part of the problem with the entire organization is they are living in the past and living off of 2017.  Yes, Lurie has been great but he has also enabled the Philadelphia Eagles to get to this point.  It all starts with him.  Look at what Will Parks said about how 2017 was 3 years ago and they need to get over it.  That comes from the top.

Lurie is the only one that can fix this and it starts by getting rid of Howie.  If he doesn't do that then I will lose all faith in this team moving forward.

Being great and the best also doesn't last forever doesn't last for all people.  Just because Lurie has been the best owner doesn't give him a free pass.

I guaranteed you guys before the season that Greg Ward would finish top 2 in receptions amongst our WRs.  Not because I’m a Greg Ward fan, but because of how bad our weapons are and how poorly the offense is designed.

Not only will he finish top 2, hes going to lead the team in receptions.

Let that sink in.  Greg Ward leads the team in receptions.  And targets.

He also has nearly as many touches as Miles Sanders when you include punt returns.

This team is built around Greg Ward.

Curiosity: what does it look like to lose all faith in the Eagles if Howie is not fired?

Well it would mean that I don't trust them to make any of the correct moves.  It takes away all excitement for me.

The Eagles are potentially picking as high as 3 this year.  We SHOULD be ecstatic at the possibilities.  However, if Howie comes back, that excitement will turn into OMG how is he going to mess this up.  We have a premium pick in every round but 4 (again, thanks Howie for the Avery trade).  I have no faith that Howie would make the right pick in any of the rounds.  It's a sinking feeling and it sucks.  But that's where we are.

My post had little to do with Lurie and everything to do with how bad Tose/Braman were.

But keeping the Eagles relevant is not that hard. It’s a football city. Fans have been around for terrible seasons before and will be there for terrible seasons after. 51 years without a championship proves it.

You try to do it.  It takes work.

Let's not get too crazy. Lurie has been a very good owner. He has to do a better job of not micro managing some things and he's going to have to cut ties with Howie eventually. He has his faults, but he's better than most owners.

RIP Mary Ann — what a great character.  I remember reading a quote from Dawn Wells saying she made $750 per week for Gilligan’s Island and saw no money from syndication, while Sherwood Schwartz made about $90M from residuals.

In a way, maybe it was the coconut cream pies, she was hotter than Ginger.

A sweet and pretty woman with a personality is always preferable to a smokeshow who comes off as stuck up.  Even as a little kid I thought of Ginger as nothing more than a good time — even before I knew what a good time was.

Same with the Flintstones — Betty always treated Barney like gold, unless she had Wilma influencing her behavior.  Meanwhile, Wilma nagged Fred day and night and got herself pregnant while not sleeping in the same bed as Fred.

It’s very possible I watched waaay too much TV as a kid ..... 😂

Ok. Let’s review.

His completion % has improved every year.

He had more yards last year than he did the year before.  Just not this year, because of the shortened season.

His yards per game has increased every year.   Freshman year was 218 yards, this year was 305 yards per game.

His yards per attempt and yards per pass has increased every year.

His TD were up last year from his rookie year by 6

His TD per game has increased every year    Only this year is .4 TD a game more than last year.

His QB rating has increased every year.   This year being at 172.7 and Freshman year at 157.6

So I’ll ask you.   What aspect of his "qb game” has regressed?

If you look at it from a stats perspective, yes, he's improved.  He's regressed in his footwork, mechanics, decision making, ball placement and touch.  He's piled up those stats on some stacked teams making dumb throws pretty often.  If you looked deep into Higgins last year, you'll notice that most of his throws make the WR work too much for the catch.  He's certainly a top notch prospect from a lot of standpoints, but he's not a generational type complete talent.  People fall in love with the flashy type talents and they hardly, if ever, work out as hoped.  He honestly reminds me of Mariota with a slightly bigger arm.

The vast majority of men would choose Mary Ann over Ginger. The cute, sweet, girl next door type who doesn't think too highly of herself is an easy call over a super hot yet shallow and high maintenance type who thinks shes better than others.

Girl next door type is always more attractive. Probably because it’s more realistic.

Just had a crazy what if thought...

Eagles land 3rd overall pick and go for full on rebuild, maybe they keep Doug & Howie maybe not I dunno. They decide to trade Wentz & Hurts for a couple high conditional picks. But they know they’ll have a shot at either Lawrence, Wilson, or Fields so they’ll rebuild with a rookie QB (QB factory).

just a stoned thought I had and wanted to share lol

Heard this take...

Doug is a good coach that is having a bad 2020, whereas Howie is a mediocre GM that had a great 2017.

Thoughts?

I think Doug is a mediocre coach that had a great team under him in 2017 that couldn't be stopped. And Howie is  bad GM that had a great 2017
