Yup, my earliest memories are the late 70s.  Of course, it's not like the Eagles up and left town and won a Super Bowl in another city.

True but that is an entirely different team

Reading between the lines, I think Lurie and Howie gave Pederson more power in 2018 and 2019, saw the team spiraling down, and pulled back on the reins this season.

Extending Jeffrey, for example, doesn't sound like a Howie move, but Pederson is a player's coach who prefers veterans.

Putting a lot of money into DTs sounds like Schwartz lobbying.

We'll have a better idea when Lurie fires Pederson, Howie or both - because he's probably the only one who really knows how the decisions were made.

To me, Howie is the consensus guy who tries to do what his people want done, and it works when they have good people who know what they're doing.

Pederson is a HC for a veteran team that needs a light hand, but you want a strong GM.

Okay thanks for your side of it Howie

Its just ridiculous.    Even if Doug is the one who wanted these players... he's not the one who structures the deals.   But can someone tell me what it will take for Howie to actually take responsibility for anything?

I said it a couple days ago, but I'll say it again... If Howie gets credit for 2017, then he gets credit for the mess we're in.   If he doesn't, then get rid of him anyway, because he's not bringing anything to the table anyway, besides being a playmate for Lurie.

Wrong!   Being the best Eagles owner in The past 50 years isn’t much of an accomplishment.  He got his SB win and great for him.  He’s enabled this mess to get worse.  That’s on him.  He is the problem!

Disagree. Its a great accomplishment.  See Bill's, Jets, Browns, WFT, Bengals, Lions, Jags, Cowboys, Cardinals, Chargers, Bears, Vikings, San Fran, Dolphins, and the list goes on.  Eagles, Ravens' Steelers, Patriots, GB, Kansas City are the best owners in the league

Getting the SB was great for us as well.

We'll see how he handles this but each time his decisions did not work out as he hoped and anticipated he made changes.

Dave doesn't give 1 flock about any of the fans and neither do the Eagles. Now if we quite buying stuff, going to games, and watching on tv then maybe they'll care

I guaranteed you guys before the season that Greg Ward would finish top 2 in receptions amongst our WRs.  Not because I’m a Greg Ward fan, but because of how bad our weapons are and how poorly the offense is designed.

Not only will he finish top 2, hes going to lead the team in receptions.

Let that sink in.  Greg Ward leads the team in receptions.  And targets.

He also has nearly as many touches as Miles Sanders when you include punt returns.

This team is built around Greg Ward.

You do realize that when you are right we suck. So stop being right!   And now I have singlehandedly solved all of the Eagles problems..................................................

Or maybe you have issues? 😜

Just had a crazy what if thought...

Eagles land 3rd overall pick and go for full on rebuild, maybe they keep Doug & Howie maybe not I dunno. They decide to trade Wentz & Hurts for a couple high conditional picks. But they know they’ll have a shot at either Lawrence, Wilson, or Fields so they’ll rebuild with a rookie QB (QB factory).

just a stoned thought I had and wanted to share lol

Honestly, it's possible.

I think the only one of those three worth that effort is Lawrence.  Fields and Wilson make me nervous.

That’s certainly one way to look at it. Another would he he has been the only receiver or skill position player to be healthy for all 16 games.

Happy New Year to anyone in New Zealand/Samoa and that part of the world!

But kinda weird how he told us that early on. He was right about more things then I ever thought he would be this year. I wouldn't have seen this coming like at all.

Yep 10 times out of 10 I'll take Mary Anne.

Fulgham isn't hurt, just in the doghouse.

Hightower never got hurt, just in the doghouse.

I know the tweet was posted yesterday but I went back and couldn't find who shared it  I know it's not realistic to IR all 9 guys and purge practice squads but this is the perfect opportunity to see what Hakeem Butler can do at tight end, give Joe Ostman significant snaps at DE, give Jason Huntley carries and they are just silly not to bring in about 4 guys.  They are essentially being given free players from other teams.  Unless there's a rule I don't know about they would have full control over the players signed for 1 meaningless game.  Even if they don't play a down on Sunday they could be on the Eagles roster moving in to next year.

Even if they just bring up 9 guys from their PS they could add 9 more to the PS and have first dibs at signing them to a futures contract.  Perfect time to bring in a kicker to compete, any position to be honest.

Yet another reason Doug should be gone. If he cant control his players and motivate them to work hard then why is he the HC? Thats his number 1 job as a HC.

What happened to Watkins?

Hightower having more targets and receptions would have been an even bigger upset. And Fulgham got figured out after a nice month, but can’t beat press coverage.

Ward had his role all year. Run easy, high percentage routes that defenses are fine with conceding.

It makes perfect sense that he ranks highly in targets and yards all things considered. DJax, Alshon, Reagor all hve been injured or ineffective. That doesn’t make it a good thing by any means.

Lurie has been and is the best Eagles owner over the past 50 years and it isn't debatable.

Leonard Tose-

Norman Braman

Lurie.

He is not the problem.  Without a doubt  he sees the issues of poor drafting and the cap hell.  Lurie has made a lot of excellent and tough decisions since he became owner,  he will do it again.   We may not agree with how it shakes out this off season, but it will be ameasured, considered, and difficult decisions.

I dont think it matters if Lurie is the problem or not. There is zero chance he is selling the team and no one is above him. So thats not even worth discussing.

We are talking about a guy who got cut in Detroit and lasted a few weeks in Green Bay.

He’s been bad after his hot start.

Who knows.

A player I would be interested in bringing in would be DeShone Kizer.  He's currently on the Titans PS so he would have be to be signed to the active roster.  He's only 25 and IMO, he's the kind of quarterback you bring in to mold into a backup.  He isn't a starter in the NFL but he has experience and I think off the bench he's exactly the kind of guy you want.

I'm not talking about 'upsets' or any of this other nonsense.  But talking about how this team seems unwilling to work with young players at the WR position who struggle and let them work through their struggles rather than put them on the pine.    Ward was not the only healthy WR, and of the 3, Hightower, Fulgham and Ward, he's the least talented of the bunch.  But, he's the most refined, because he's been working on it in the NFL for 3 or 4 years.   Meanwhile, these others have a greater potential in the NFL, but this coaching staff refuses to work with them to get them better.

There's no reason Fulgham should struggle with press.  He's big and strong enough to be able to be taught how to deal with it.  But, they won't.  And they seem unwilling to put Fulgham in the slot to work, where he'd see much less press coverage (like Ward does).  Because that would limit Ward's snaps it seems.

But, this season we saw a WR emerge from the dreck, only to get pulled back into it because they wouldn't commit to him and make him a better player.  The moment Alshon showed up again, Fulgham became an afterthought and his snaps have decreased steadily from that time.   Just another reason that this coaching staff needs to go.  Young players struggle at times, and you either commit to them and make them better, or you give up on them.   Clearly Doug was too busy trying to keep his job in the short run, he didn't do anything to keep his job in the long run.   Lack of player development is a major issue on this roster.   The WR position is just a microcosm of it.

We only want QBs that can be starters on this team. Hence the QB factory. The fans need someone to chant for when our current starter has a bad game. Come on what are you thinking :)

Yes.  He was cut by Detroit.  Also by Green Bay.   But, he was performing well here... and then magically it ended.   Coaches need to figure out why it worked early and what they can do to bring it back, not just go back to the old standby of Alshon Jeffery.   Jeffery was equally bad on the field when he took over for Fulgham.  He also didn't get targeted or make receptions.  And in the one game he did a little more, it was mostly due to OPIs that weren't called or phantom DPIs that were.  He wasn't good against the Cardinals, but the refs sure helped him out.    This team and coaching staff are too dependent and far too loyal to old and washed up players.

Interesting story about Jimmy Smith..bounced around to a bunch of teams before he managed to stick in Jacksonville and become a Pro Bowl WR for about 5 straight years.    So, rather than focusing on where a player comes from (Greg Ward, after all, was a UDFA that bounced on and off the PS for a few years), the team should be working with these guys to get them all better and not pull the plug on them at their first sign of struggling, especially when the entire team is struggling like it has.
