Most fans are smart enough to know Covid is an excuse, not a reason.

The offensive coaching structure is an excuse too.  Everyone said and knew it was a dumb, non traditional idea then.

If Doug stays, that’s a hint of sorts that Lurie/Howie forced this coaching structure upon Doug and that Doug managed to forced that excuse upon them as a reason to stay.

I actually don't mind keeping Doug and Howie around for next year.  This is going to be a horrible team in 2021, no matter who the coach and GM are.

Lurie is not going to hire the guy that tells him the cold, hard truth....the one that says this will take 3 years to unravel these toxic contracts, the QB situation is a drama-filled disaster, the roster has no talent, and the team is minimum 2 years away from competing under the best possible oversight with the best possible luck.

And I don't want the guy who sells BS and convinces Lurie they can make some short-sighted adjustments and be competitive in 2021.  That's who we WOULD get.  So let's just stick with the 2 morons who got us here in the first place and who will also try to sell Lurie that they can be competitive next year.

After a horrible 2021, we'll have a top 5 pick, it will be easier to wipe the slate clean at QB (and everywhere else).  GM's and coaches with a vision want to build a new house.  They don't want 2 years of losing and drama lost up front in tearing down the existing one.  I don't want the guy that actually wants to stake his reputation on salvaging this QB situation and this roster.

Let Howie and Doug finish sinking the ship they self-torpedoed and then bring someone in for 2022 to build a new one.

Everything we hear is that Howie will return and if that happens it is going to limit fan enthusiasm. Lurie better be careful or that apathy could start setting in and that is the worst thing an owner can deal with. It is far better to have angry fans than ones who don’t care.

If Howie is back, I will be as close to not caring as I ever have been.

Sad but true. I’m largely apathetic myself. I wasn’t outright rooting for Dallas last week. That would make me feel slimy, but I did have a very...meh...feeling after losing by 20 points.

If you're gonna do that you'd better make damn sure Howie doesn't make the cap situation any worse.

If that's even possible.

Problem with that is Howie is still around to dictate player personnel and draft decisions in a massively important offseason. No bueno.

It bothers me a ton... all they will do is dig the hole deeper.

No reason to dress Wentz no matter what the plan is moving forward.

If you want to move on from him, him being hurt kills any trade value.

If you want to rebuild him, him being hurt kills any chance of that.

And the tackles are likely a guy who should never again where an Eagles uniform.... and Brett Toth.

Nothing can be gained, even if Wentz goes out there and plays well, highly unlikely with this line up though.

The best choice might be playing Greg Ward at QB.

Or the opposite of Jim Schwartz

If Hurts plays well under these circumstances, he's the guy.

How’s he going to throw screen passes to himself though?

He will bounce them off the DL.

Start Sudfeld.

Why take the chnace on getting a running QB injured behind a makeshift O line

Exactly. Id be more excited for them to keep Wentz next year and see what he can do with a new coaching staff. If he struggles again, Id admit I was wrong and trade him the next year when it makes more sense. But one there is no reason to give up on Wentz after one bad season, two you can not keep him and Doug together. So just makes so much more sense to move on from Doug. Esp with with all the mistakes this year. Hes been on a major decline on offense for 3 years now. Bye Bye Doug.

That show was really funny in a wacky off the wall kind of way.  There were a few weird episodes that weren't all that funny, but for the most part there were always several LOL moments each show.

I want Devonta Smith on the Eagles

I wasn't crazy about the fact he physically looks like Pinkstons kid brother so I really didn't want to go this route, but on the field? Man the kid is dynamic. I wouldn't hate the pick around 6. I think I still prefer Chase due to his physicality but maybe Smith turns out to be the better one.

Lawrence is the typical college QB these days who goes in the 1st rd, big arm, top athlete, a lot of one read looks with top WRs. So is Fields.

Problem with all these guys is projecting them to the pro game where the mental side is far more important. If you're throwing to Clemson WRs against college CBs, you get a lot of open looks, it's not like you regularly go through your progressions or throw into a lot of tight windows. Which is why college QB stats these days are almost meaningless.

Jones on Alabama shows the mental acuity but lacks top arm strength, to me he's an early 2nd rd, solid backup who might grow into a Brees like starter.

Smith’s route running and ability to separate are other worldly. Chase is a phenomenal athlete but Smith I think is the better football player.

I'm going to guess, at most, we get a new OC. Howie stays. Doug stays. Some of the offensive voices are shown the door.

They chalk it up to a bad season and Covid. Get ready, it's happening.

I think recency bias is coming into play and people forget how dominant Chase was

Me personally, I hate the screen and think in the NFL level its been figured out by defenses. Its rare to see a screen go for a good gain anymore in the NFL. Defensive lineman sniff out the screens to HBs now with how the oline react. DBs have a great reaction time to WR screens. Yes there have been a few success stories but its rare. the days of the early 2000's and the screen confusing teams is over.

So that stat to me is not a big difference between the two on screen plays. If Im an OC, yes ill throw in the screen once in a blue moon but its not going to be added in much at all.
