Assuming we lose to WAS, I wanted to know which teams to root for today and came up with the following. Any of these would result in us jumping above the winning team in draft order:

  • CIN over BAL (1pm ET)
  • ATL over TB (1pm ET)
  • HOU over TEN (4:25pm ET)

If CIN lose, we still have a shot at jumping ahead of them with Strength of Schedule but it's going to require some upsets and doesn't look probable.

Currently SoS is as follows:

  • CIN 0.527
  • PHI 0.531

I've plotted out both teams' schedules (attached) and cancelled out common opponents, today's games where PHI or CIN has played both teams (since one will win and one will lose - doesn't matter which way around as they cancel each other out) and assumed both PHI and CIN lose today.

Based on this I get 4 games that actually impact the SoS of one team but not the other.

We need 3 out of these 4 to happen to jump ahead of CIN to #5:

  • MIA over BUF (1pm ET)
  • CHI over GB (4:25pm ET)
  • CAR over NO (4:25pm ET)
  • LAC over KC (4:25pm ET)

Yeah... need some serious underdog help unfortunately.

TLDR:

Looks unlikely we'll move up from #6. Would need some underdog help.

LAC over KC looks like a good bet. NO lost their entire RB’s room to COVID, so maybe there. I’d be more confident in Miami if Fitz was playing. Time for Maserati Mitch to step up.

I wonder what John Dorsey’s stance was on Wentz when he was in Cleveland and traded out of that spot.  Something to think about.

He was with KC when Wentz was drafted

It'll be really interesting to see what the Eagles can get for Carson Wentz. I think there will be interest from several teams.

Can’t even get excited about a draft where we might have a top 5 pick if Howie is back. It ruins any excitement or hope I have going forward. Just kills it.

BLG said it best in his latest pod. If you’re an Eagles fan, other than the fact that you’re a fan, why would you have any desire to watch this team going forward? There’s nothing to get excited about.

Win one SB and Lurie teats Howie and Doug like the first girl a 16 year old ever had sex with. Put them on a pedestal and think no one will ever be better. Howie could piss in Lurie’s coffee and Lurie would think it gave him vitality.

If they trade him (big if) — NE and DEN will be front of the line.  IND would inquire as well

You’re correct which means there is a scheme and GM problem maybe ?

Coaching yes, but again, even if we had Metcalf I’m not convinced he’d be playing and I’m not sure how well our guys would be performing elsewhere.

For you folks who are wrong thinking Wentz has lost trade value, there are tons of examples from the past of coaches thinking they can fix talented QBs, and teams paying them, and teams giving up a lot for them in trades. Look at the money Bradford made in his career. Look at what we gave to trade for him. Just one example that includes our own team. You should have learned from that.

Wentz is a better QB than Bradford ever was. Yes, hes broken for 1 year. Bradford was never good in the NFL. Wentz has shown MVP ability. Wentz is going to have a ton of trade value.

So maybe you cant get 3 first round picks for him. But you can most definitely at least get one. If you think Jacksonville wouldnt be stoked to trade for him, youre nuts. Even broken hes a much better prospect than Lawrence.

If they have a good draft, it's not hard to get excited.
They might hire a good staff.

Or they might be so bad in 2021, they fire everyone.

Yup. It's why I'm more apathetic than pissed.

Unbelievable. Depressing. Moronic. Negligent. Insulting. Delusional.

No it just shows that there are problems with Carson. Major problems.

The folks in the building clearly don’t think the issues with this team (as of now) are systematic or structural.

We should be discussing what’s wrong with Carson instead of trying to fire everyone.

Please be true. Miami is for sure winning if so

Yes. If we have to suffer, you have to suffer!

This is bad.

Job 1 for Doug since 2016 has been to create an offense around what Carson does well... That's a dumb thing to say.  But... as dumb as that was to say... saying he needs to find a role for Hurts is dumber now than it was drafting him in the first place, which is hard to believe.  As stupid as the Taysom Hill comment was too, but at least Hill plays ST.  Will Hurts be the holder on FGs and the personal protectors on punts?   Doubtful.  He's not Taysom Hill.

Doug should be fired for these comments alone.

Why are we rooting for Miami as it relates to the Eagles?

Yep.  Have to find a way to watch and root for your team to have decent moments yet lose to get a top 7 pick.  It's going to be painful though watching either Pryor or Toth try to block Chase Young. He might have a chance at the sack record if Doug decides to call 50 pass plays.  Hurts might ask to be traded after this game, if Doug does that.

Treat it like preseason (that you want to lose). There's lots of young guys to watch and evaluate for next season.

Doug should've been doing that since he drafted him. The reality is that Doug has no clue how to fix Wentz or how to get Wentz to work on his mechanics.

My wife bought me Madden NFL 2020 for Christmas; I hadn’t played Madden since the ‘95 version.

I received a message early in the season saying ‘player is unhappy about playing time’, and it was a picture of Miles Sanders.  I thought "yeah, I could see that”

The next message I got was ‘player unhappy with his role in the offense’, and it was a picture of Alshon Jeffery.  I thought "they really work to make this realistic”

The next message I got was’ veteran player shares inspirational message’, and it was a picture of Jason Peters.  "Oh well, 2 out of 3 ain’t bad”

The other portion of the game experience that wasn’t realistic at all is the Eagles players return from injury, on schedule.

Add the Saints, 49ers, Steelers to that list.

We will get at least a 1st for Carson. Maybe more.

If we get Smith/Chase, Samuels Jr. and a 1st at Safety, LB, or Dline then it’s the perfect scenario. We can use the rest of the picks on Oline and defense.

Not to mention we will have 81 million in Cap space in 2022. This team can be turned around in 2 years.

Yup.

At the same time, if Wentz is worried about competing with Jalen Hurts, he's not the guy.

He might be more worried about Doug and Howie being whom he has to trust to get him help.  Would you trust them to fix this?  I sure don't.  And if the Eagles run this all back and just rearrange the deck chairs on this sinking ship, I am going to request a trade too.   At least Carson gets paid for this crap... I don't.

Wishlist as possible replacements for gym shorts:

Pat Fitzgerald- he's probably looking for a HC job in the NFL

Jim Leonard- DC from Wisconsin played with Balt

Kris Richard or maybe a Dan Quinn

NICE! The plus side to needing playoff teams to lose is of course them resting starters.

They will just be lazy and promote Burke from within.  Caplan and Mosher feel it's almost a certainty.
