I don't understand how Pryor can go from that deep in the dog house to playing that acceptably at LG against Aaron Donald.  It just further makes you feel like they don't know how to evaluate their personnel.

I don't know what the future holds for Pryor, but if he really does have potential and plays well for these several weeks for Seumalo...I wonder if it would be time to cross-train Seumalo for OC.  We need ALL the long term solutions we can get...and if Pryor LG Seuamalo OC is going to be workable, then start the process now.

The interception in the end zone was both JJAW and Wentz, JJAW ran a terrible route, didn't sell the move at all, rounded his cut and never was open.

Wentz should have seen that, either checked down or thrown it away.

Giants may dumb luck themselves into Lawrence or fields.

Seumalo has been cross trained for center and is the heir apparent for Kelce.

Herbig beat out Pryor, and as it turns out, played better the 1st game than thought at first glance, and seemed fine this game.

Pryor is the LG for now, but I think Driscoll is the future.

What's better, going between 7-9 to 9-7 (if a miracle happens) and either missing the playoffs or at best, winning 1 playoff game....

Or

Going 5-11 to 6-10, letting the young guys get some playing time, and starting the rebuild that we need earlier with better draft picks?

Mentioned this in the GDT. It was still not a good throw but JJAW ran a bad route. Kind of feels like JJAW probably thought he wasn’t going to get the throw and just ran it poorly. M I want to see it on the all 22 cause I’m betting it looks worse than the TV camera angle they showed.

I'd say the lack of a TD opportunity was on JJAW for running a bad route and being a horrible WR.  The INT was on Wentz for making a delayed, bad read followed by an inaccurate throw.

Dead last in DVOA after two weeks?  Wow.  The team is even worst than I had thought, and I was saying 7-8 wins before the season.  The biggest issue here, by far, is not the cap or even the horrible drafting and almost total lack of young talent (though those are also BIG issues).  It is what has happened to the young franchise QB entering his prime and early in his big contract.

I don't know what to make of Wentz now.  In week 1, I saw a guy pressing, trying way to hard, almost in desperation.  Even when ahead, trying to hard and pressing.  Yesterday, the protection was better, play calling more conservative, and I saw a guy who is gun shy.  Hesitant.  Definitely not confident.  It has only been two weeks, but these performances were several SD's outside of expected for a franchise quarterback.  He has been the worst QB in the NFL over the first 1/8th of the season.  Horrible decision making and atrocious accuracy, adding multiple interceptions to go with known fumbling issues.

How did we get here?  What the hell happened?  Coaching and scheme changes?  Lack of preparation with the lockdowns and restrictions?  Lack of time with new players?  OL Injuries?

At the end of last year, I was as confident in Wentz and his future as ever I was in 2017.  What he was able to do with such an injured and depleted team was tremendously encouraging.  I don't know what happened and would love any insight here.  I cannot unsee how bad he has been the last two games now.  And this is not because so and so was out -- yes they have o-line injuries, but basically everyone was healthy and playing yesterday.

I stated here that the Wentz era was torpedoed and sunk before it could get going, with the ridiculous selection of Jalen Hurts in round 2 after signing Wentz to a franchise QB mega-deal.  You could argue that a great QB overcomes whatever is thrown at him, and that may be correct.  However, when you have a young player you are building around, it is absolutely and completely ridiculous to hedge against them.  I said after the pick was made, that unbelievably, the team is moving on from Wentz when they were just getting started, whether they know it or not, because that is how this works.

Welcome to the decline.  It looks like at least a couple of tough years ahead, and getting back to contention will require that the owner makes some organizational changes far beyond just blaming and recycling the coaching staff.

The upside is the team has not had many high draft picks they haven't had to trade up for, and that is about to end.  This looks like a couple years in a row of being near the top of the draft, much like the Giants have seemingly been for almost a decade though they don't seem to be getting any better.

511 or 6-10. Going 9-7 you are basically stuck in purgatory where you are not good enough to win anything meaningful and not bad enough to bottom out.

I wonder if they held Pryor out last week because they wanted a back up for Peters.  In other words, Herbig and Pryor are about the same on the right side but Pryor can also play the left.  So make Herbig the RG and Pryor the LG/LT back up.

Agreed.  That was my point.

Also count one against Doug and his posse of offensive coaches for having JJAW run a deep post route from out wide on first down as the (seemingly) first read.  Seriously?  You've got Desean, Reagor, even Hightower and that's the play you call JJAW's number on?  I'd rather call Lane's number as an eligible tackle on that route.

Doug blaming everything on an abbreviated offseason is tiring when the league specifically made the conditions the same for everyone.

Certainly no excuse. Especially for a team with the same QB and coach for 5 years in a row.

You don't need to bottom out to become a playoff team.  I mean Cleveland and Washington have been bottoming out for years with no improvement.  NE and Pittsburgh has been playoff teams for years.  There is no real process of making your team better with high level picks.

the excuse train is out full force today. Tends to not be good when you start blaming everything else but yourself. Shows a lack of accountability. Feels like this season is about to go Right down the toilet

Because he sucks

I agree but surely he is better than Epps. At least I hope so.

I do like Parks, but I don’t know what he will be in this defense yet.

Its all about FO and coaching. Thats the only true way to fix a franchise. For example the rams had i believe 10 straight losing seasons. Tons of high draft picks still couldn't get it right. They fired Fisher, took his GM control and gave it to the GM that was already there, Les. Les hire Mcvay, and boom, 3 straight winning seasons. This year they are 2-0 this year despite losing TG and Cooks.

This is why you can't take guys like BLG & ESP seriously.

Legitimately why was he wrong about in that article? He was pretty spot on with most of it. I get BLG is more negative then others but he Wasn’t wrong in that article. Our DTs make 23, 13 and 12 against the cap and barely have shown up this season. Our drafts have been dreadful for the most part since 2017. The oline held up better than i think any of us would’ve thought. We’ve discussed in the blog and GDT about press Taylor and wentz situation where Carson needs someone who’s tougher on him cause we’ve seen the sloppy mechanics more often under pressure than when DeFlilippo was here. This team easily could lose all the next game or be sitting at 2-4

did I miss something in that article besides his game prediction that he was wrong about? Cause imo he was spot on.

Parks can't cover.  He's a versatile try-hard type.  If he's the guy that we are expecting to fix the defense, we are in for a rude awakening.

There's no question that Roseman has not only overvalued the position but overpaid for talent at the position.  If Cox was Donald, I would understand but right now Cox seems to be just an above-average starter.

I'm not trying to make the playoffs or win 1 game when we get there.  We've done that the last few years.  I want another Super Bowl run.  Better draft picks are the cheapest way to get there.  I know, we suck at drafting but I would rather go that route than trying to squeak into the playoffs and win a round.

Just pointing out NE is an outlier and have one of the greatest coaches to ever coach. People really need to stop using them as an example cause they are the outlier. As for the Steelers they missed the playoffs 4 times and made the playoffs 4 times since 2012. Missed the playoffs the last two years.

Bring up Cleveland and Washington and I’ll bring up the niners who bottomed out and went to a super bowl. I’d also bring up the cardinals who bottomed out and might be the best team in the nfc west at the moment. There’s always examples that go both ways. However if you utilize your picks well when you bottom out and actually have a QB it’s easier to turn it around faster. Cleveland and Washington continue to bottom out cause their organizations are dysfunctional and they have trash QBs

In this division, the eagles will get 7 wins. 2 from the giants, 1 from the skins, split with the boys, cinn, niners (bc they are banged up) and Browns. More likely middle of the draft again.
