The interception in the end zone was both JJAW and Wentz, JJAW ran a terrible route, didn't sell the move at all, rounded his cut and never was open.

Wentz should have seen that, either checked down or thrown it away.

There was the smallest of windows to get that there. Doug himself said it was an unacceptable interception. Wentz owns it.

One positive for Howie is that he’s aggressive enough to sell if the ship continues to sink. On the other hand, if we sputter to 3-4 he might make a dumb trade.

I 100% believe this...if Lurie flat-out tells him he's back for 2021.

I'm also curious to see how Howie acts in "sell-mode". We've never seen this.

It's absolutely critical that the owner starts to understand why the team is in the position.  It's not coaching.  It's talent.

The Eagles have drafted well below average for a very long time, and now they are paying the price.  The team still relies on the same few remaining great players that are at the end of their careers.  There is very little behind them.  Given this and the cap situation, it appears to be a long road for the eagles with several difficult decisions ahead.

Player evaluation and drafting have been awful.  When you look back on Eagles drafts, they could have just fired the entire scouting department, made every selection based on who Mel Kiper or Mike Mayock said they should take, and had a more talented roster.  Total and complete failure.

Sadly, many believe the current GM is highly competent and award far too much credit to him for the 2017 super bowl.  The owner has gone above and beyond to preserve and elevate this person.  Perhaps there is still a role for him, but talent evaluation and acquisition is not that role.  I don't know who or what the answer is, but major changes should be made.

In this division, the eagles will get 7 wins. 2 from the giants, 1 from the skins, split with the boys, cinn, niners (bc they are banged up) and Browns. More likely middle of the draft again.

I don’t know why people just assume we will beat the browns or bengals or niners. We lost to the awful redskins week one. Frankly i think the bengals are better team than the redskins. Better QB and offensive weapons. Their line isn’t great but it’s not like our DL has looked good all year. Their Defense is not great but ours looked awful yesterday and when the game was on the line with Washington we couldn’t get off the field on third down. Burrow imo might be the best QB they have faced so far this year. The bengals easily could be 1-1 if not for their pudgy kicker missing a chip shot field goal against the chargers

AR taught Doug to give pull-string answers to questions.  That's one of them for Doug.

Courtland Sutton now done for the year. Injuries were brutal yesterday

id love To know the more of the reason the eagles didn’t bring back DeFilippo when they had the chance. I think there’s way more to that story then the answer they gave at the time. I think it revolves around wentz not particularly liking DeFilippo’s coaching style.

Mccaffrey out 4-6 weeks with high ankle. However if Carolina doesn’t put him on IR i have a feeling he’s back in by week 5

I’d say Wentz not wanting him back sounds about right

He was baffled during the draft and suggested we go LB. I’d take DJ in a heartbeat. Guy knows prospects.

I'm good w/the Reagor pick as I like what I've seen so far, but I was heavily advocating taking a stud LB like Patrick Queen or Kenneth Murray w/our 1st considering how barren we are at that position.

Was constantly shouted down by homers that "we're fine there" because we "don't value" that position, and its the end of the world if we don't force a pick at WR.

Well, enjoy Nate Gerry and Duke Riley then!

The Eagles have only had a few true "correction years" in which they dipped below 7 wins over the last 20 years since AR became coach.

1999, 2005, 2012.

Part of that is that this has generally been a better than average team.  Part of that is that we always have a bad division with 6 very winnable games.

I don't know that this team is quite bad enough for a correction year.

They could sleep walk their way back to .500 over the next 2 weeks.

I like Hargrave as a player, but it was a bad signing because they allocated too much money at one position. How many teams get the bulk of their pass rush from the interior? DTs rarely get super high sack or pressure numbers unless they’re truly elite. The Eagles declined to invest more on the edge and it’s hurting them. Just another mistake Howie made with roster construction.

Unless he burned some bridges, there has to be talk in bringing back Bradham.

Don't know why Wentz wouldn't like his coaching style. Wentz would have been MVP 2017 if he wasn't injured. He was far ahead of everyone else and I think there was still some games left

The Malik Jackson signing was not a good one. He was older, going on his third team, and was benched the year before. I actually really liked the Hargrave signing. He’s played 1 game so let’s hold off on declaring it a bad signing.

Also, I feel like generating a pass rush from the interior is the best pass defense in a pass happy league. I don’t mind dumping high money and high draft picks there.

I look at it more this way. Even if they managed to win the next two (i doubt they do) you go to Pittsburgh and against the ravens. Likely sitting at 2-4. Got the giants and cowboys at home Then giants on the road and Cleveland. You better win all 4 if you want to win the division cause after that it’s seattle, Saints, packers, at Arizona and at Dallas. I’m not sure you win any of those games. All those teams are better. Even if the eagles are 6-4 before that stretch (which is likely a stretch) there’s a Strong chance they sit at 6-9 heading into week 17. Granted injuries happen and things could change.

It appeared to be a panic move after losing out on signing Byron Jones.  Like Howie had the money burning a hole in his wallet and HAD to just sign the next available "stud" FA, regardless of the fact that we already have a ton of resources sunk into that position.

Only speculating based off what some of the reports that caplan/mosher dropped about wentz not thinking his mechanics were a problem and his general demeanor. Caplan/mosher could be full of crap but there’s been other reports that Taylor is buddy buddy with wentz whereas DeFlilippo wasn’t.

Wentz has been coddled his whole career.  Perhaps his whole life.  Obviously got his widdle feelings hurt by the tough coaching.  Now he's got his boy Press Taylor "coaching" him, and look at the result.  But that's ok because at least Press doesn't get on him!

I think the next 2 weeks might be the easiest 2 games on the schedule.  The Bengals are a bottom 3 team.  SF reeks of a 1 year wonder team that is dealing with the SB loss hangover compounded by the worst injury situation in the NFL.  That may end up being one of the easiest games on the schedule.

Forget about the Steelers/Ravens games.  Sure, they could steal one, but that would probably be as likely as dropping one against CIN/SF.

So 2-4 seems pretty likely there.  I think a split against DC & Dallas with 2-0 against Giants feels very likely.  That closes out the division and puts us at 6-5.

A win against the Browns with a loss against GB/Seattle/NO feels guaranteed.  7-8.

Cards seem to be a new team this year, so I'll pencil that one in as a loss.  7-9.

7-9 with a shot at 8-8 if they clean some stuff up sounds very likely.  I don't see 6 wins and I don't see 9 wins.

Based on how caplan/mosher makes it sound about wentz’s views on his mechanics and multiple reporters adding on press/wentz relationship being buddy buddy it would make sense.

How many teams do though consistently? Outside of Donald, there’s not many DTs that wreck games on the interior. Cox did when he used to actually be good.

This is a highly optimistic assessment.

Malik jackson one was a bad move cause they gave him a really bad contract for a guy who had an awful 2018 season where the jags benched him and wasn’t very good against the run anymore. That’s a really bad contract in how it was set up. Malik jackson hasn’t been good since 2017 and hasn’t been great since he was with the broncos. Hargrave made sense as he was in his prime. It made sense.

however blame still falls on the eagles cause that 2019 draft was supposedly one of the best DL classes in the last decade. And the eagles wound up with shareef miller.

The 49ers did so constantly last year. Both the Chiefs and Titans did so too from what I recall.

Yeah that’s super optimistic in my mind. Again Cleveland is in Cleveland. I don’t think that’s a gimme win either. Baker stinks but it’s not as if the eagles are playing high caliber football on offense or defense

i also think you are making the bengals out to be awful. They nearly and probably should’ve beaten the chargers. Add on burrow has weapons if given time. They put up 30 against the browns. They can score points. With how the DL has played the last two weeks you trust them to take advantage of the situation? I don’t. That’s not a gimme win like you think with how bad the eagles are playing.

they could go 7-9. They easily if they manage to lose to the browns be 6-10. Heck the eagles could lose Both games to Dallas. Every other year since 2016 dallas has swept the eagles.
