How could he be any worse, it’s not like you can give up two touchdowns on one play

I get it, but it’s not like Gerry is bad on 100 percent of his snaps. Taylor very likely is worse, maybe even much worse at the moment.

Hopefully he doesn’t flash against the Eagles. That would be really annoying.

Every possession that Gerry was abused on ended in a touchdown.  It can not get worse.

I'm not trying to make the playoffs or win 1 game when we get there.  We've done that the last few years.  I want another Super Bowl run.  Better draft picks are the cheapest way to get there.  I know, we suck at drafting but I would rather go that route than trying to squeak into the playoffs and win a round.

I'm just saying that is a myth in the NFL.  There is no being bad until you are good.  Bad teams stay bad for years.  I mean look within the division.  In the last decade, there have been 2 bad teams and 2 good teams.  The Giants and Redskins have gotten nowhere being bad.

I think you’re wrong, but I’m not trying to fight the entire blog over a scrub like Gerry.

Hopefully the Bengals keep forgetting how great play action is.

Honestly, listening to Caplan and Mosher today just reinforced this mindset for me. They said the front office is adamant that the talent isn't the issue with this team and it's the coaching.

I am terrified of what they'll do if this team say goes 8-8 this year. They'll make limited personnel changes and probably gut the coaching staff.

This front office needs a reality check and I'm willing to sacrifice one season in a **** year with no fans to get the necessary change.

If the defense doesn't get it fixed, I am fairly certain Schwartz will go.  I have seen much more out of the offense out of the last 2 seasons than I have with the defense.

Parks can't cover.  He's a versatile try-hard type.  If he's the guy that we are expecting to fix the defense, we are in for a rude awakening.

The only thing fixing this defense is a better talent evaluator and a new coordinator.

Last year the offensive DVOA was 14th while the defense was 12th. In 2018 the offense was 16th and the defense 15th. They’re basically the same.

they won't.  it always seems like against us, teams use that forgotten part of their offense to great efficiency.  and somehow the defense can't adjust to it.  and the other team just kills us with it all game long.

yeah very rarely does the offense and defense play good the same game , it's always seems to be 1 unit plays good each game. yesterday they both put a crap show on.

Don't confuse my emotions with facts.  I know what I know.  Also, they have gotten rid of the last 2 offensive coordinators.  So it would make sense that Schwartz may be next.

Yup it’s what i said. He’s nowhere close to ready. If you are ok with the growing pains and not expecting to be better short term I’m all for it. But thinking it’s going to be better it is likely to get worse. But argument should be at least Taylor gets on the job training to hopefully help with his development.

I feel thats just 1 small part in the big picture.

Giants have hired literally the 4 worst candidates over the last couple years and everyone knew it.

Daniel Snyder is the worst owner in all of sports.

If I had to chose, a lot of draft picks + Carson and who knows who coaching, I take that every day of the week right now.

If you told me Doug and Carson have 5 more years left together...... FML

The point being that you can win with Carson.

Crazy NFL stat. Teams to score 39+ and have no turnovers since 1933 when they began to track turnovers are 440-0 ... until Sunday. The Atlanta Falcons broke that trend. 440-1.

If this ends up a meh year defensively I’m fine with moving on from Schwartz. I don’t think the defense is loaded, but I think it should be a good unit. And where we’re lacking, Schwartz seems to be fine with it — IE Gerry, Maddox and Mills. That’s part of the equation as well.

It honestly must be impossible/exhausting to be a Falcons fan more than any other NFL team.

I disagree. His mechanics are all over the place. Yesterday was one of the worst I have ever seen in terms of his footwork. You could go back and watch that game and it’s all over the place. his balls were sailing. His balls are bouncing into DeSean Jackson. on simple check down Miles Sanders has to fully extend just to catch the ball. His mechanics and footwork yesterday we’re bad. Add on his decision making it was really bad.

At the end of 2016 and 2017, you saw his mechanics and footwork were very consistent week to week  It’s why at the end of 2016 he began looking better along with lane being out there. In 2017 when had a game where it was Inconsistent you saw him back the following week with good footwork and mechanics.  he has had far more inconsistent games with his mechanics and footwork since 2018. Which tells me if he’s having more inconsistencies week to week with mechanics/footwork imo he’s either not listening to his coach that’s harping on him or his coach is afraid to say something or his coach doesn’t know how to get through to him or he doesn’t think he has an issue which is alarming.  To illustrate this even in that Dallas game at the end of last year he had some mechanical/footwork issues in that game. That throw that got Zach Ertz hurt was because he had poor footwork on the throw and why sailed and left Zach vulnerable

I don’t disagree with your assertion that the Eagles offense is not making it easier on him. I am hundred percent agree. They lack creativity. This has been discussed at nausea since last year.

The phrase is ad nauseam, just as an FYI.

The window is closing fast, if it hasn't closed.

Howie's gonna have to do some serious housecleaning, basically ship out any contract he can, build a war chest of draft picks, and accept a couple rebuilding seasons.

They won a SB, had a shot at going back, now it's time to face reality.

They overpaid too many veterans b/c of green colored glasses that ignored how much of 2017 was a fluke season, now it's time to bite the bullet, I'd shop Cox, see if you can move him before he seriously declines, same with Malik and Graham.

And fire a bunch of scouts and pay premium prices for top scouts.

Stop for a moment and consider that afan (!!!) just made the above post!  I feel like it is officially over now.

We will always cherish the core of this team and the incredible 2017 season.  The guys that were here are all time greats forever.  Many are also warriors for overcoming serious adversity to make the playoffs the subsequent two seasons.  A great period and great players we will never forget.  They accomplished what seemingly would never be done, and in spectacular fashion.

Unfortunately, gross mismanagement of the team in all aspects along with bottom of the league drafting has cratered any hope of seeing the Eagles become a sustainable contender.  New leadership is now badly needed for a new era, but you have to be ready for a couple of tough years.  Hopefully the owner has the courage to do what must be done.  If you see wholesale coaching changes and everything else is the same, you can add on years to the rebuild.

The tragedy is really Wentz and what the hell happened, and whether anything is salvageable.

I forget what Eagles podcast I heard it on, but they were talking about how the Eagles over correct, and I agree with it 100%. They went from "above the rim" physical guys at WR to all speed guys. In week 1 to 2 they go almost all vertical to all shorter stuff.

I'm fine with changing a game plan but it has to be measured. The Eagles as an organization always seem to be in this perpetual state of extreme course corrections. Andy the players coach to Chip Kelly who was a hardliner and cut players the second they stepped out of line. Then back to Doug and his emotional intelligence players coach.

Week 2 they totally remove the vertical game, did they even attempt one pass over 30 yards? You have to at least try and have that threat.

This organization just feels lost right now on so many levels. I can't believe it's fallen apart to this degree so fast.

Thanks. Using the dicta on my phone and it doesn’t pick that up. Don’t care enough to go back and change it.
