I forget what Eagles podcast I heard it on, but they were talking about how the Eagles over correct, and I agree with it 100%. They went from "above the rim" physical guys at WR to all speed guys. In week 1 to 2 they go almost all vertical to all shorter stuff.

I'm fine with changing a game plan but it has to be measured. The Eagles as an organization always seem to be in this perpetual state of extreme course corrections. Andy the players coach to Chip Kelly who was a hardliner and cut players the second they stepped out of line. Then back to Doug and his emotional intelligence players coach.

Week 2 they totally remove the vertical game, did they even attempt one pass over 30 yards? You have to at least try and have that threat.

This organization just feels lost right now on so many levels. I can't believe it's fallen apart to this degree so fast.

It was the birds with friends podcast sheil and bo continuously say that about the eagles. That’s their running joke about the organization.

I think part of the reason you saw such a dramatically different approach on offense this week compared to last week is because of the way the Rams played us. I don't know the numbers, but I would imagine a very high percentage of snaps were played with two safeties deep. They wanted to keep everything in front of them and force us to put together long drives without mistakes. The Rams conceded the running game a little. There were a lot of soft 6-man boxes to run against.

So I don't think it's as simple as Doug over-correcting after trying to hit Washington deep 170 times last week.

Though I do agree with the general idea that the Eagles over correct, especially in the draft.

Yup. We often had six blocking six in the box.

Now Tevin Coleman is hurt too. Holy crap the SB loser curse continues.

This makes me think 2 things:

1. the FO-by-consensus may not be working.  There might be too many hands in the pot.   It’s causing weird issues all over the place, in personnel and game planning.
2.  Doug’s seat may be hotter than we know.  They refuse to give him real power and have routinely undermined him publicly.

This Bengals game is setting up to be one of those fork in the road types of games where narratives are written and breaking points are reached

If the team comes out flat again, it could be the beginning of the end for a lot of individuals

I worry about Howie taking everyone down before he falls. I don't know if he was behind that little hit piece on Doug that McLane put out before the season, but it wouldn't shock me. Especially since Caplan and Mosher say the Eagles believe their roster is fine and the coaching is mainly to blame here.

I don't think Doug has been particularly good since the SB, but he took a team with crap last season to the playoffs. I think he's been better than Howie the last 3 years.

But there seems to be little ego battles all over the organization.

Lots of criticisms for the Eagles defense for the way they played yesterday, which is more than fair, but credit to the Rams for being as crisp as they were. They clearly used training camp very well to prepare for the season. They're going to give a lot of teams problems this year, especially early in the season.

What did everyone think of the Jalen Hurts stuff yesterday?

Creative. I liked it. I'd like to see a bit more. I'd like to see Hurts with the ball in his hands but yeah at least they used him.

Similar to what the Saints did in the regular season game in 2018. They flat out said that their gameplan was to force Wentz to beat them. They gave up almost 8 YPC to Josh Adams and they were fine with that.

felt very early vick-ish when he was brought in to run the wildcat.  different scenario, but same feel.  but i guess you can say that about all the gadget plays.  probably like how saints fans first felt with taysom hill, but hill has developed into an actual option on offense.

Yeah really not sure why it disappeared in the second half. The few plays they did in the 2nd quarter all seemed to work well.

I liked it, but I don't think Wentz needs much help in the red zone. As shaky as he's been this season, he's still fine and excels in the red zone. I would have liked to seen more of the Hurts stuff outside of it. That's where they need help.

i foresee a hurts lined up in the backfield with sanders one play like split backs, fake handoff to sanders...  but toss it to hurts like a halfback sweep, to where he'll run wide and either take the yards he can get with his feet (prob. HEAVY option A which will be drilled into him).  or pass it off to a streaking reagor / jaccpot who the defense lost track of because they have their eyes on hurts.

Listening to Kist and Solak and they confirmed pretty much what we all thought, that the Rams sat back in two high, playing cover 2 and cover 4. They took away the deep shots, which is why you play two speed receivers out of 12. They played light in the box so we were able to run the ball effectively and efficiently. Yet we scored 19 points...

Ugh, what happened to the "Slot God"?

Never was.  Skill level at nickel is way overrated.  I would have played Leblanc, who, despite being a JAG, at least can tackle.

Wentz missed a wide open goedert in the end zone. Easily could’ve been 26. And the int. I didn’t think the eagles struggled to move the ball. Their turnovers killed them. Had 3. Cam only had 2 punts on the day.

I wonder if someone would trade for NRC at the deadline. He’s another candidate I’d look to deal.

This only works if you think you can score at will. Which, sadly, seems to be the case.

The bottom line is that we just aren't a very good football team right now.  This year will be Doug's toughest test yet as a coach.

And if it doesn't get turned around, his last.

hearing from people that jalen ramsey actually had his hips open to goedert and was trying to bait wentz into throwing to him.  people are saying if wentz had thrown to goedert, it woulda been an easy pick...  so wentz throwing it away was the right call.
