hearing from people that jalen ramsey actually had his hips open to goedert and was trying to bait wentz into throwing to him.  people are saying if wentz had thrown to goedert, it woulda been an easy pick...  so wentz throwing it away was the right call.

Eh i kind of think wentz had to see him early in the play and put it in the back of the end zone leading him there where only goedert would catch it or it’d go out of bounce. By the time wentz went through his progressions Ramsey was in position to make a play. I don’t think goedert was the first read if he was i think you throw it to the back of the end zone he’s either getting it or it’s going out of bounds.

For those who are complaining about Schwartz’s use of Darius Slay, what exactly is the problem? He basically shut down McLaurin and then the Rams stayed away from him.

Stating the obvious from Carson:

Carson Wentz "We have the talent. We have the guys to be an elite offense. The turnovers have been killing us. I have to protect the football, plain and simple. I have to own that. The timing of the mistakes and the turnovers is really hurting us”

Was it just me or was the best tight end on the field on the rams? Going into the game no one could tell me that the eagles TEs > >>> Rams TEs

The rams DC gameplaned and took away the TEs like nothing. Shouldn't that opened up things for Desean and the other wrs?

It did open up Sanders for some big plays out the backfield, so that was good

I disagree. Wentz needs to anticipate the throw. Should've been 6.

Yea, i'm not getting this one either. I guess because Shwartz is playing him off the line? But its not like he's being beat so I don't see the problem either.

I think Ramsey was baiting him.

There’s a lot to complain about, but this one is complaining just to complain.

Higbee is good but he's not better than Ertz or Goedert. That's just due to how bad the LB's and S played

I really want to see Carson succeed and I'm still very hopeful that he can/will.  But this is still uncharted territory.  I was a major Mcnabb critic around here once I realized he just wasn't good enough.  I picked apart everything he did.

I'd say I realized in 2005-2006 that he wasn't going to be a truly great passer or clutch performer.  That was about 6 years in.  Wentz hasn't been nearly as good or accomplished through 4.125 years as Mcnabb was at this point, but I'm still not there yet on him.  With that said, Mcnabb never had a 2 game stretch to start the year where you could truly say he was playing at the level of one of the 2 worst starting QB's in the NFL.  Mcnabb never sank to this depth.

Again, I'm not there yet on Wentz.  It took me 6 years for Mcnabb.  And that's about exactly how long I will give Wentz.  This year and next.  At that point, the final product will or will not be good enough.

I know he isn't, but the rams don't exactly have good lbs either. Thier best lb is in Oakland, (Littleton).

There LB core is Kenny Young (Ravens trade throw in), Kiser (2nd game starting in the nfl and known more for tackling then coverage), and Floyd (Bears reject). I never seen such a quiet day by the tight ends. Even week one the tight ends made a impact.

My guess is Wentz just missed them. He had Goebert against Ramsey and underthrew it.

You can see on this play how Carson is throwing the ball with just his arm as opposed to getting his legs and torso into the throw. It's why the ball is so inaccurate, and why he sails balls over his receivers a lot. He puts so much arm into this throw to JJAW that his left knee almost gives out because of how awkward his feet are. He needs to get back to the basics with footwork.

Retweeted by LeBlanc. This is what's going to start happening if things don't turn around fast, more disgruntled players.

That and how well the game was called.  They identified our weakness and didn't stop attacking it.  Besides the TE, they took advantage of our over pursuit with the numerous stretch run plays and the play action sweep with Goff then rolling the opposite way.

Also haven't seen this discussed much but wasn't the obvious play going for it on 4th and 3 in the RZ down by 8 after the Rams were offsides on the successful FG? That seemed like a prototypical go for it situation especially with Doug.

Hopefully the Bengals keep forgetting how great play action is.

From what I've seen they're just letting him run the offense he did at LSU -- empty backfield, 5 WR, and throw it all over the yard.  They have a pretty good running game with Mixon, but they come out of it fast when they get behind .... almost 'Doug' fast.

I think Ramsey was baiting him.

i think so too...  look at the following screen grabs and keep in mind, this all took place in about 2-3 seconds after the snap:

screen 1 goedert is running to the endzone, carson going through his reads still.  look at ramsey.  hips open to goedert.  if it's thrown to the back of the endzone he'll run with goedert there.

spacer.png

screen 2 goedert looking back, but look at ramsey.  if he throws the ball to goedert there, it's heavily contested / swatted..  or worse picked.

spacer.png

screen 3 ramsey still has his eyes on the backfield, ready for carson to throw.  this is DEF a pick at that point if thrown to goedert.  if thrown to the back of the endzone, heavily contested.  ramsey in perfect position to see both carson and goedert.  he's baiting carson.

spacer.png

screen 4 the "most" separation goedert got.  ramsey still in perfect position to make a play.  the "openess" was because ramsey wanted goedert to look open.  if carson passed it to him, best case scenario is a batted heavily contested ball..  worst case is another pick.

Not to me; I liked kicking the FG there to get within 5 points -- but the strategy supposes your defense isn't going to watch the opponents offense run a track meet the rest of the game.

The way you talk about Jim Schwartz you would think he’s Billy Davis.

Supposes that you have a defense

I'm a Schwartz guy, but he deserves all the criticism in the world right now. His defense was completely lost.

Criticism is fine and fair game. People act like he’s the dumbest DC in the league.
