I want to know why Wentz is regressing. Is Doug just not that good? Was 2017 just a once in a lifetime year where everything went right and we'll never get anything close to that again under him?

Who has improved in the last 3 years under Doug? Who has played above expectations?

Wentz was never Drew Brees with his accuracy, but even as a rookie he was never this bad. This is painful to watch.

Every drive it feels like they have to run through a field of thorn bushes just to get into the end zone. Nothing is crisp, nothing is in sync. Nothing flows. There's no rhythm. It's such a chore to watch.

I think it speaks to the wholesale changes coupled with new receivers. I would have preferred a more gradual approach to changing the offense. Wentz is clearly uncomfortable.

Feel like it could be a couple things

1. since the knee injury Carson has had moments of greatness but never consistent. So maybe the knee injury changed his trajectory and he never gets back to that level.

2. Maybe we need better coaching for him. Frankly i think he has inconsistent mechanics. Whereas in 2017 when he had a poor game like the bears with his mechanics the next week he was back on track.

3. Maybe he doesn’t trust his oline right now Not being healthy and thinking too much about being hit and the pass rush. or Maybe he doesn’t trust his weapons at WR yet. It’s not as if he’s played with these wrs for a ton of time. His most games played with our WRs are with Greg ward and JJAW (also say we don’t have good enough WRs at the moment)

4. Maybe that groin injury in training camp is worse than we know and bothering him.

5. The creativeness is lacking in the offense and the nfl has caught up to what the eagles are trying to do.

The worst part about that loss is that McVay set the blueprint on how to expose this defense and I don't expect Schwartz to adjust. I'd expect to see teams going after Gerry and NRC. I'd also expect to see a heavy dose of end arounds and misdirection plays. John Ross will probably play a big role in that for Cinci next week.

The bottom line is that we just aren't a very good football team right now.  This year will be Doug's toughest test yet as a coach.

I think we know Doug's fatal flaw at this point. Andy Reid was a great coach. Legitimately great. But had the fatal flaws of clock management, and stubbornness against running the ball. Just a little bit too often, he just wasnt the best game day coach.

I think Doug might be a really, really good coach. But his fatal flaw seems to be preparation.

All too often, since 2017 this team has looked ill prepared. You can watch games and you see so so many opportunities left on the field. Our players open for TDs. But you get drops, or inaccurate throws, or missed reads. And on defense you see nice players with unlimited mental breakdowns- as in miscommunication of coverages, or poor tackling resulting in would be sack turning in to a QB slipping out and throwing for a big gain.  You can watch all of these losses and see, the offensive scheme works. Doug even with other offensive coaches has a really excellent offense. But the lack of preparation resulting in fundamental mistakes costs us in each of our losses.

There are legitimately almost no games we should have lost over the past few years if you go back and count all the easy TDs that were left on the field. We beat ourselves consistently since 2017.  We outmatch almost every team we play against, yet get outplayed often.

The offense, even yesterday looked quite good. Just extremely out of sync. Im giving it a chance to see if Wentz can shake off rust most likely caused by a summer of sleepless nights with a newborn baby and consequently a lack of mental focus in football preparation over the summer. With shortened camps, and no pre-season a lack of both quality mental, and physical reps.

But in addition to that, its likely a continuation of what we have seen from Doug coached teams.

Hopefully, its just Wentz right now and as he gets back up to speed we see that Scarangelo was a big time signing and everything clicks. Because we need this offense good enough to win shoot outs. The D is not gonna be there for us this year at all. There appears to be no hope for this years D.

Zac Taylor is a protege of McVay’s so I think you’re right.

I mean they should’ve been doing to begin with. He wasn’t great last year. He had some nice games but usually against poorer opponents.

I agree but their second half adjustments haven’t been great either. We have scored 3 points in the second half of games so far this year. And outscored 57-3.

I think our second half adjustments would have looked better offensively if Wentz played decent football.

I don’t think anything was exposed tbh. Every pod I listened to literally could see from a mile away what would happen and those are all guys who never even played in the league

Jenkins with the sack 😆

I thought Solak made a great point about Wentz. He’ll never be the most accurate quarterback, but that isn’t an issue when we’re connecting on some chunk plays. Days like yesterday, his inaccuracy can really stymie an offense when the defense is forcing him to be accurate on the short to intermediate stuff. His misses become magnified.

thats BS.Not a good point at all. Its a completely wrong point. Wentz isnt an inaccurate QB. He has an occasional misfire high. But mostly hes extremely accurate. Just not yesterday.

I thought Gerry was pretty good week 1 (and pretty awful last year).  Mcvay clearly made it their priority to isolate and pick on Gerry all day long.

I guess jenk hasn't lost a step after all

meh. that may be a fluke through 1 or 2 games this season. historically under doug this has been a very good 2nd half team. We would either be sealing games with leads in 2017, or staging comebacks after slow starts in the following years where we came out not ready to start games.

Probably. I thought Washington it was a unit wide problem. Yesterday definitely on him.

Jenkins made up for fail linebackers here now he is gone and we have Gerry all by himself lmao

He’s not extremely accurate.

sure he has....1 play doesnt mean hes 25 again.

Yes, I meant yesterday. The Redskins was a failure all over.

Yeeep.  He's lost about 3 steps.  1 sack doesn't mean he's anything better than the total liability in coverage that he is.

People were acting like he lost three steps and Mills would step in no problemo

At least we have Rodgers.

Could very well be a fluke. but first two games of the year so far averaging 16.5 ppg in the first half and 1.5ppg in the second. Frankly sanders fumble hurt them cause they looked good moving the ball that first quarter besides that play.
