Seattle really sucked last year.  We improved a lot since the first time we saw them to time we got them in the playoffs.

But, we didn't belong in and went going anywhere either way so it really doesn't matter.

They may have sucked but like you say they beat us in the regular season and ultimately beat us in the play offs. Until Doug and this team prove they can beat Seattle then the overwhelming evidence is that they can't.

That’s the QB position. It’s the hardest job in sports, and he’s well-compensated to do it. If he did his job as expected, we’d be 1-1, with an outside shot at 2-0.

Yeah fair enough

but let’s stop pretending that Wentz’ body angle being 5 degrees off has anything to do with it

hes hesitant and uncomfortable and IMO trying to be too precise instead of just slinging it

His mechanics can be a problem, and his foot wasn’t pointed where he was throwing. That stuff matters. Maybe if his foot was where he wanted that pass to be it’s a completion. That doesn’t absolve JJAW of blame, but Wentz made it harder than it needed to be.

Reagor, Jackson, Ertz and Goedert are not "replacement level."

That's a preposterous statement.

That's what people outside of Philly think of this offense.

I like the Reagor pick.  But until proven otherwise, he's a nobody.  Ertz and Goedert are 2 TE's.  One is a probowler who is slowing down, while the other is the emerging #2 TE in an antiquated 12 personnel offense that isn't working.

Desean is a decoy.

That's a bad complement of pass catchers.

He was great at one time but an aging, overpaid Malcolm Jenkins wouldn't change a thing on this team.

He'd have changed plenty.  And not in a good way.

How is 12 personnel antiquated?

It's the quarterback.

Crazy that Even with this we had chances to win both games.

How is it not?  It's not just the look of a 2 TE offense, which innumerable teams will often show.  (Seattle, for instance).  It's the philosophy/investment of actually making the 2 TEs your biggest investments, best players, and highest volume targets.   Bigger, slower, possession-oriented targets in a league that penalizes defenses for brushing against fast players in space.  The very model used for this offense was Gronk/Hernandez in 2010-2012, nearly a decade ago.  So yes, it's antiquated.

But his mechanics are fine.  He isn't the problem.  The line isn't giving him enough time.  Blah, blah blah!

That is the primary issue.  But I always try to shed light on underexposed problems.

Last year, when the weapons and offense were awful, I got in debates reminding everyone that Wentz wasn't good enough.

This year, when Wentz is in the crosshairs, I'll remind everyone that the offensive scheme and weapons are still part of the problem.

To me it looked like his foot was aim exactly where he threw that pass

Reposting the following because I would very much like to stir up a debate about the trade value of players:

Alright, while we are in panic mode...everyone, everyone, has a price.  If you had a yard sale, you'd put a price on everything.  If the Eagles had a firesale at the deadline, what would you take for every player on the roster?  Not what you'd ask for...what you'd take.  And their contract situation counts.  Rookies and first year Eagles don't count.  As always, my valuation of these players will be radically different from popular opinion.  0 means I'd give them and their contract away for nothing...might mean they suck, more likely means their contract is a problem.  Some players gain a bit of value just because they've been coached up in our system, have a role, and we have no one else.

QB: Wentz: 1,1,2, 2.  Sudfeld: 7

RB: Sanders: 2,4. Scott: 4. Clement: 0.

WR: JJAW 0, Ward 0, Jeffery 0, Desean 0 (clean sweep)

TE: Ertz 3, Goedert 1

OT: Peters 0.  Lane 1,3.  Mailata 6

OG: Seumalo 2, Pryor 6, Herbig 7

OC: Kelce n/a (would never trade a lifetime Eagle at the deadline for his last few games pre-retirement).

DE: Barnett 0, Graham 0, Sweat 3, Avery 0

DT: Cox 4, Jackson 0.  Ridgeway 7.

LB: Gerry 6, Edwards 6, Riley 7,

CB: Maddox 4, LeBlanc 6,

S: Mcleod 4, Mills 5, Epps 0, Ford 0

Not a whole lot of players on the entire team that have appreciated from their original draft investment.  How would your price list differ?

That was all on Wentz. He had time, it was a 2 or 3 yard pass. How did he miss? I just can't explain it.

Looks like he rushed it, didn't set his feet.

We spent a first- and second-round picks on wide receivers. We’ve devoted plenty of cap space to WRs.

By the way 12 personnel is so antiquated that it’s gaining in popularity.

Wait until we play San Francisco. They’re really antiquated. They even use a fullback!

They are.  Agreed completely.

Sure it does.  5 degrees off at 15 yards puts the ball off target by 2.5ft to either side, or 5ft to 1 side.   That obviously gets wider at further distance.  Id say 5 degrees doesn't matter if the pass is under about 15 feet.

Sometimes Solak nitpicks stuff that is ultimately inconsequential but in this particular case, it's a legitimate critique of Wentz's mechanics.

Wentz shouldn't need a top 5 OL, a top 5 coaching staff, a top 5 running game, and top 5 WRs to play well. The narratives with this guy are laugable.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Italy "reopened" June 3rd.  If people can't see this new strain of crazy seized upon by every NY based cable news network, not sure if there's any hope.

But that's right, people gave up on "reading" as well.

Oh and if the "WORLD must END" virus is still raging in the US, show me one college student who has died. You can't . Because there aren't any.

You need to go back on your meds. This took 10 seconds on the internet:

What teams are progressive offensively?

Rasul Douglas starting in Carolina.  7 solo tackles.  Led team.  One TFL.  LOL!

While I always felt that Schwartz woefully misused Douglas, there are questions that need to be asked if a CB leads the team with 7 solo tackles....

I'm not diving into another 12 personnel debate.  It doesn't take advantage of the lousy officiating evolution.  I didn't like it for the Eagles when they took their first steps in this direction, and they've done nothing but regress since going more and more 12 personnel heavy.

You like it, that's fine.  Other teams use it as a situational package, precious few as a >50% base offense.  You want to build the offense around the mismatches Zach Ertz can give you blocking in the running game, good for you.

Maddox had 8 tackles for us.

Look at some of the best throws in his career, his feet are a little off

this is overblown.  The quick screen to DJ?  Sure, his form is sloppy as he’s trying to rush the play.

But this "mechanics” issue is overblown IMO.  Who wants to criticize Mahomes’ mechanics?  He literally has thrown no look passes
