If Rousseau had an agent who advised him that he'll be drafted higher sitting out the season and leaning on his one year of production, that tells you everything you need to know about the additional crap-shoot-fest the 2021 draft will be.

There are going to be ~10 players in the entire draft that have both big talent and sustained exposure/production.  Then every team will have to make a choice...go for projection and big talent or go for NCAA production from lower upside players.

Come on people, get on with your lives. In my state the death rate from Covid is  1.60%.  Most of those coming in nursing homes in the St. Louis area.

Just use a bit of common sense. Of course common sense isn't common any more

1.6% of what? Total population? People who are infected? People who show symptoms? It matters.

A lot of the opt outs are coming back, so at least there’s that.

I’m not so sure. He drafted Reagor despite terrible production as a junior. He drafted Davion Taylor in round 3 despite limited production and being 100 percent projection. He drafted Jordan Mailata who never played the game.

And remember, Howie actually doesn’t make draft picks. He just sits around and follows other people’s bad boards and keeps a list of the good picks in his desk drawer to show Lurie after the fact.

7th round.  They've always taken their mid/late round shots on big athletes.

They usually go for low upside production before that.  Reagor and Taylor were certainly departures from that, although Reagor has definitely produced at a high level in the NCAA.  His junior numbers were dismissed on account of the QB....just like his rookie year numbers 😱

Good to know, because it certainly seems like you’re pinning everything on Schwartz, especially with your Chip Kelly comparisons.

Nah, I know Howie has been screwing up a lot lately too. I haven't been shy about vocalizing my concerns there either. You even seemed to take issue when we were just recently discussing his failures in addressing the lack of depth on the OL as well.

Bottom 3rd in offense

Bottom 3rd in defense

bottom 3rd in turn overs

starring down 1-5

What do you think we should do? be happy with the product on the field lol

If we were 1-5, I would agree with you. Wholeheartedly. We're not.

In other words, just because this team likes to do things the "hard way" doesn't mean for the most part they don't get it done.

At 0-2, I'm just lookin to get back to even. I'll worry about the rest later.

I think the OL depth looked pretty good Sunday.

There aren't very many appealing round 1 edge rusher investments, FYI.

Not a great year for the position and a lot of the more tantalizing physical talents are going to be very "low information" guys in this COVID NCAA season.  The Eagles may have turned a corner with respect to drafting better athletes, but they do NOT like to draft players with productivity/experience question marks in the first 2 rounds.  I just hope they don't force-pick another bad edge rushing prospect simply because they sorted through the 2020 NCAA sack leaders.  That blessed us with Marcus Smith and Barnett.

The best pass rushers to come out of this class are going to be guys who weren't ultra-productive and didn't get a ton of game reps on tape to dominate.  They will be harder to find than usual...but the ones with the physical specs will be overdrafted in rounds 1-2 despite less production.  There is NO way Howie ends up being the guy to nab one of them.

That’s what was said about last years draft as well. Unfortunately at some point we need to draft a good quality DE to replace Graham and very possibly Barnett. Can’t keep getting surprised when these middle to late round pick DE projects don’t turn into quality starters. There’s a reason why the majority of good DEs in the league were first round picks.

Our track record with DE's in the first 3 rounds is horrifying.  I know that's no reason to stay away, but it makes me wince.

The frustration is definitely bubbling out from the seems of the NovaCare complex.

Guess this doesn't meet the criteria. NFL's a funny game.  Loooooong season. Lots of bounces... Ebbs and Flows.

Come on let's hear if from "all the Oregon" experts how the Niners didn't just lose ANY Chance of winning the NFC this year lol

The 2021 draft seems like it'll be more of guesses and hopes because of COVID than this year

If Schwartz has this much say and has been this bad at personnel why is he still employed? This organization is pretty quick to move on from assistants that they see as failures.

I've been getting the impression that he doesn't have much say and just uses the players he's given

Let's hope that becomes the rule rather than the exception.

Yup. Imagine blaming the OL on Sunday...couldn't be us.

"WRs are the lowest graded unit in the NFL."

Yep Wentz is in a Funk. He'll snap out of it.  You can spend your days piling on if it gets you through the week. Won't make much difference.

I'm starting to wonder if his "back injury" could be bothering him and he's just playing through the pain.  Could help explain not being nearly as mobile this year and issues with his mechanics.

So pretty much no different than how it always is with Howie drafts.

Back injury was two years ago. He was held out of camp with groin tightness.

CB will be the position we draft in RD1...it fits the talent in the draft, our biggest long-term need and a starter can play day 1. Shaun Wade is my bet right now, but Fairley is an option if we continue to be awful.

"Carson Wentz's 40.7% on-target pass rate is currently the lowest of any starter in the NFL, and he leads the NFL with eight turnover-worthy plays (almost one-third of the way to his 25 from a year ago) after two games. "

It's the QB.
