Seemed like he was lined up over LG Seumalo/Pryor the most. Peter was helping Seumalo out a lot. Not sure I saw him over RG at all

It was a neck injury. No one knew that he'd play like this. They took a chance with an injury draft prospect the year before and it didn't work out. It's understandable that they didn't want to chance it with DK

Yep. They brought him in, he failed a physical, they moved him out of the second round on their board, as did many teams. It is what it is.

He also wasn't a productive college receiver.  I mean Howie isn't the only GM making bad picks.  It's just there's no reason to sugar coat it.  The Hurts pick this year given the performance of the other rookies and the holes on defense deserves scrutiny.

I was only defending not picking DK because it's understandable in the moment back then. I hated the Hurts pick. Also not happy that Jones didn't turn out like he should have. There's still a question mark on Dillard IMO. Howie also screwed up on contracts recently. So I'm not Howie apologist lol

Yep. I was hoping it would last until the bye

Well when have the Eagles' team doctors been wrong about anything?

At least they aren't Skins bad. That's one thing we have going lol

Pretty sure lots of teams passed on DK because of that neck injury

Only one team drafted JJAW instead however.  It isn't just DK, it's every other WR taken after JJAW and WR this year as well out performing him.

What's worse is that DP said they were impressed with what he did in game 1 and he played well.  This coaching staff defends their WR who don't do squat to no end and it's infuriating.

I'm not sure what this has to do with Howie and processing the information given to him.

That's what people outside of Philly think of this offense.

I like the Reagor pick.  But until proven otherwise, he's a nobody.  Ertz and Goedert are 2 TE's.  One is a probowler who is slowing down, while the other is the emerging #2 TE in an antiquated 12 personnel offense that isn't working.

Desean is a decoy.

That's a bad complement of pass catchers.

He'd have changed plenty.  And not in a good way.

There is absolutely no one with a clue who thinks those 4 guys are replacement level players. A replacement level player in the NFL is a practice squad level player. The term originated in baseball for the typical level production you could call up from AAA.

Just an observation - I am not a Howie hater but I think he went out on a limb with the Hurts pick.  The team is not playing well.  They lack cap flexibility going into next season.  These are all problems.  Of course, maybe they were onto something with the Hurts pick that we are unaware of with regard to Wentz.  Then you have to look at how the Dillard pick may be a miss right now.

You really can't say Dillard is a miss, or a hit for that matter.

He was never expected to play last year and you can't blame him for his injury

Are we sure out medical staff is better than Wash?

Seems like that might be a bigger leap than I'm willing to make with all our medical issues.

Yup. Jury is still out on Dillard, I’m willing to give him next season to prove his worth. JJAW on the other hand, i’m starting to get concerned.

I’ve always been a Howie homer, and after the SB he earned two more seasons as a GM before I’d start really criticizing him. We’re at that point now. I still hate the Hurts pick, I think that was nail in the coffin for me. Nothing to do with the player. But the best argument for Hurts is having a cheap #2 QB on the roster, instead of paying the likes of Dalton for $7 mil a season. I get it, but I still don’t side with that. You don’t grab a guy in 2nd round with the hope he’ll never have to see the field in 4 years.

Taylor in the third isn’t an issue to me, hard to be that upset over project players as long as they pan out eventually. Mahomes was regarded as a project player in 2017.

We need to differentiate between the medical staff and the strength and conditioning staff.

The medical staff doesen't see the players until after they have an injury

Do you not see how Wentz is playing right now? I completely understand the Hurts pick.

It’s easy to justify now. But I don’t think anyone was expecting Wentz to play so poorly back in April. The main goal in April was to surround with Wentz with offensive talent, certainly not find one to replace him.

We aren’t in the room where it happens. We don’t know what’s going on with players/coaches and why we went with Hurts in round 2. As of now the pick look justified.

That’s silly.  If they had that much foresight they would have drafted a QB that was more polished than Hurts.  The first thing that came to mind when they made that terrible pick was they  (Doug and Howie) thought they were the smarter than everyone else and they were going to use him as a bargaining chip.   Or they  thought their roster was a finished product and they wanted a gadget.   Either way, dumb.

Or they thought...here’s a QB that isn’t ready to start right now, but can be coached up just in case Wentz gets hurt/regresses. It’s the same gamble they took with Wentz.

I know everyone is freaking out and want to blame Wentz, but Doug has not done a good job the last couple of years in getting the Eagles ready to play at the start of the season.

Eagles' record:

2018: 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 2-2

2019: 0-1, 1-1, 1-2, 2-2

2020: 0-1, 0-2

Good God, who in the hell is going to coach him up?  Pederson?  Taylor?  If the hope is Hurts gets coached up, his career is already shot with thos group of clowns.  All they do is coach people down.  To me, the two groups the do improve and get more from less are the RB and offensive line groups.  The rest of the team is coached by guys who quantitatively make players worse.

How is it justified when Hurts hasn’t took a single snap at starting QB or thrown a ball in a regular season game yet? How is it justified when they just signed Wentz to a massive payday a year ago? If it was justified Wentz would be on the trade market, and they would of went harder at a QB in first round.

Well keep in mind they do believe they’re a QB factory.

Keep playing Gerry and don’t fire Schwartz, these two are essential to getting LAWRENCE.
